The hit would place him in the exclusive 3000 Hit Club, and would solidify his spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Roberto would also become the 1st Latino to record 3000 career hits. The celebration was short lived, as 3 short months later, Roberto would lose his life while delivering aide to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. Roberto epitomized hard work, dedication, and benevolence. Major League Baseball honored him last month and reminded the world of his contributions on and off the field. Recuperarse de un desastre nunca es fácil, pero no tiene (y no debería) ser un proceso solitario. Varias organizaciones pueden ayudarlo, ya sea a través del acceso a la información correcta sobre cómo solicitar asistencia federal o mediante subvenciones de emergencia y donaciones. Encuentre ayuda atreves de NYFA.

NYFA.org ofrece información relevante sobre los actuales recursos por desastre, subvenciones de emergencia, recursos legales, asistencia pública y más. La ayuda en ambas líneas está disponible 24/7.

Antes de hacer una donación o ser voluntario, lea estas Pautas sobre Donaciones del Centro de Información Internacional para Desastres (CIDI). Páginas como Charity Navigator también son un buen lugar para investigar organizaciones benéficas acreditadas, desde bancos de alimentos hasta cuidado de animales. Colorlines y Bustle también han publicado un resumen de organizaciones que aceptan donaciones y otros tipos de apoyo. Hyperallergic enumera varias organizaciones artísticas en la isla que están recolectando y distribuyendo donaciones y abriendo sus puertas a la comunidad a través de la terapia de arte y otros eventos. I made another one of these one of a kind “A-frame” pendants. This one features natural Turquoise Mountain turquoise from Arizona. It is on an adjustable chain so it can sit at around 17-19 or so inches. The chain has been embellished with a selection of tourmaline beads arranged in an ombré flow. California denied Felicita's children the opportunity to attend school because of their Puerto Rican and Mexican background. Felicita Mendez fought back, invested every dollar in hiring an attorney, and challenged the Board Of Education and California in court. The Board of Education relented and permitted her children to attend the school if she dropped the case. She was no longer fighting for her children; she was fighting for every child victimized by segregation. Felicitas Mendez would go on to win the case and desegregate the schools in California. My heart breaks for my family and everyone in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷💔 Many news outlets have had little, if any coverage of the devastation that has rocked much of the island of PR due to almost 1,000 earthquakes (large & small) that have occurred since December. Over 20,000 Puerto Ricans have been displaced because they either loss their homes, or are too afraid of their homes collapsing on them. My cousins who live in Guanica (one of the most effected areas) slept outside in tents with their children for almost a week, ultimately leading them to flee the island. I still have much family residing there, being shaken by earthquakes with magnitudes up to 6.4. Still recovering from Hurricane Maria, oftentimes much of the island goes without water and electricity. My post is not for your sympathy, but to bring awareness to what is happening to our fellow American citizens. Please take the time to research what is happening around the world, and if you can, find out ways you can help. I found and donated to an awesome organization called World Central Kitchen that provides meals for displaced families during disasters and who are currently in PR.
