I finally had luck when it came to producing and developing film. These images I took in the area of wapping and crystal palace at night. Throughout this shoot I was appealed to reflections and the effect of artificial lighting on objects and shadows. It is hard to distinguish the images in the contact sheets as they are all so dark, but each work in their own way.

This was my first attempt at pushing film. I pushed the HP5 400 speed film to ISO 800 while shooting, and developed them at 800. I did this in order to increase the lighter part of the images, with the shadowed areas staying the same. Shooting at night without flash at a slower speed can prove problematic, so this is my reason for pushing the film by one stop. It additionally increases the contrast.

Whilst developing the second film, the developing spiral was faulty and once I had put the film in it, it started splitting apart so the film fell off into the middle, but I hadn’t realised it had completely fallen off until I had finished the developing process. This is the reason for the bright white marks, but luckily I got away with only losing a couple of images.
