Folks…I just watched How To Blow Up A Pipeline and whew, I have THOUGHTS and EMOTIONS. Please if you can watch this film (it’s on Netflix, Hulu and Sky!)

Not everything that’s “solar” is “solarpunk”. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that wiping out all ecosystems to cover the earth with photovoltaic panels and then selling the energy is not remotely “punk”. There has to be a line somewhere between that extreme example, and say, some kind of permaculture commune. That so many people put things like huge concentrated solar power plants that are incredibly disruptive to local ecosystems, and the ol’ “cities but with more green shit” on the “punk” side of that divide kind of works to discredit the whole movement, imo.
