8. SUMMER

“Atem, are you ok? You’ve been a little quiet all day. Maybe a picnic on the beach wasn’t a good idea.”

 Yugi’s sweet voice caught Atem’s attention. Yugi was right, he was thinking many things and he was nervous, even when he spent all afternoon yesterday practicing his speech. I love you from the first time we met.  That was true, but also a cliche. You have made my days brighter. Perhaps that’s too much.

 “Atem?”

“I’m sorry, I’ve been thinking of something that I need to say.”

“I wanna say something too”

 Atem noted that Yugi was nervous and he was avoiding meeting eyes with him. Maybe Yugi feels uncomfortable with me, maybe he doesn’t want to go out with me anymore, Atem thought.

 “Atem, this may sound strange and sudden but… I’d like to get to know you better. I wanna be closer to you and spend more time together.”

 The other was so excited and surprised that he couldn’t say anything. Yugi hesitated before continuing.

 “I know we met a few weeks ago but…”

 “Would you like to be my boyfriend?”, Atem said taking Yugi’s hand.

“You traitor. I was about to ask that.”
