I’ve been trying to look at apartments just so I can have an idea and tentatively plan my future when I move out on my own. But like. Searching for apartments, looking for ones that are wheelchair accessible narrows it down to very few options. And even the cheapest options would be half of my monthly income at least, and I also have monthly costs for loan and car payments not to mention medical costs and groceries and such. And there’s a lot of apartments that straight up require you to make a certain amount of money a year for them to let you rent and I super don’t meet those. And I’m like. Hm.

#when I applied at this company I applied for a developer position that the listed salary was like amazing #and i fucked up the interview so they instead offered me a QA position that makes like 30k less than the dev position #i figured the salary was fair since I had failed the interview and I’m fresh out of college with no experience #but now im like. damn

#my boss after giving my QA team a weeks worth of additional work: ‘why are u guys missing the dealine by a week??’#hm i fucking wonder #he gave me an updated deadline and its assuming we should be working weekends???#more specifically- it assumes we were working LAST weekend. which we werent. because our work schedule is M-F #our company FINALLY hired an additional QA person… and he quit within a couple months #and they just. have not hired any replacement for him.#so we just continuously dont have enough people to test anything #scheduling releases that would require QA to be testing multiple totally separate features simultaneously???#every single non-manager is in agreement that we do not have time for the amount of work we’re being given #this has come up every single release cycle #and it never changes

It’s so fascinating that I find so many issues in the EA assets when working on my own stuff, thinking I did something wrong, but it’s actually the original asset that wasn’t 100 % tested.

Just tried to fix something for the last 30 minutes until I thought “huh, maybe the orginal asset has the issue too”, and yes, same issue there.

Love it.

the autism allegations keep piling up

#had an AWFUL day at work there was SO MUCH CRAP in my area #big huge boxes #i hate the company that shares our office theyre so rude #i was complaining to my friends and they said its likely an autism thing that it qas distressing me and confusing me so much #definitely gonna try and remember to speak to my psychologist abojt it when i see her next #...its. too many things to be coincidental hdjdjdj #...is it bad or weird that this is like. idk. taking time to sink in or something? idk how to explain it #but like #the more i think about it the more autism makes sense about some things about my life #and the way some people habe treated me #i reallu dont know jow to explain it but i promise it osnt like a bad thing or in a bad way or anything

#i am behind #i am worried #and i am continually baffled by ea games/bioware leadership #i’m gonna edit these tags once i do a little more catch up but what the fuck #h #immediately sus about letting a contract with a unionized studio expire 👀👀👀#from everything i’ve learned qa contract roles are hellish and underpaid #and for a studio to unionize to protect those workers #only for ea to sever ties with them…#hmmmm #okay gimme a minute #i can’t imagine laying off lead writers and managers on a highly anticipated game like this #and how demoralizing and frustrating it must be for everyone still on the team #idk!!!! what if companies just weren’t the worst!

i love when companies frame them wanting to pay fewer people as some kind of personal development opportunity or job title lol. 'we're looking for full-stack developers', 'we're looking for T-shaped developers'

yea ok so you're cutting costs by expecting people to be able to do everything

#like obvs there's genuinely people who /are/ 'full-stack' or their skillset /is/ “T-shaped”#idk that i'd consider myself to be a “”“T-shaped developer”“” but i think it's helpful to know how stuff works like backend/QA/design/etc #even tho i'm a front end dev. but that's bc it helps me collaborate w other people and understand where they're coming from better #there's nothing that annoys me more than developers who think they're better than testers/designers #but whenever i hear T-shaped or full-stack from a company esp right now it just sounds like 'we want to pay less people to do more'#maybe this is a hot take idk

#started my new job on monday and ive been in pretty intense onboarding sessions #which is very cool because my last job had like NO onboarding and i felt like i never even worked there lmaooo #after this 3-day general company training there's an entire QA Automation onboarding course too!!#which i have NEVER seen before. like damn. that's thorough #and THEN later this month there will be a three day product training!#like yes omg finally a place that wants us to actually understand the product lmao #anyway thats why im not around much right now!#just gettin into the swing of things :)#how has everyone been??

I finally finished story missions in SRV today! I still need to build the last building and get all of the regions 100% though but it was a great time still.

#i cant say it was exactly smooth i had to restart the game regularly but i did it!#despite the bugs i can tell there was a lot of love put in this game #kinda funny finishing this while wearing the purple bathrobe i bought 10 years ago when i got rly into sr #aaaa little sad that my mental health is still where its at but hey Yuri's been with me this whole time and im still here #shoutout to megafreeman in the credits gg #also saw my employer company in there but we dotn talk about that they just bought too many qa firms (including mine lmao)
