Quake 2 gets an AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for its models

Quake2RTX is perhaps the best way to experience id Software’s classic shooter. However, this version basically requires an RTX graphics card. As such, and for all our non-RTX readers, there is a new AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for Quake 2 that you can download and install right now.

The Quake 2 Neural Upscale 1.0.0 uses AI techniques in order to enhance and improve the game’s textures. This pack currently only overhauls the textures of its 3D models, and does not feature any textures for its world/environments.

You can download this HD Texture Pack from here. This add-on also provides upscaled bright player skins from nQuake2, making it suitable for competitive play. Do also note that you will need a source port that supports PNG images, such as Q2PRO, in order to use these new textures.

As Calinou noted, for HD world textures, you can use the HD textures add-on from nQuake2.

Lastly, the modder provided the following comparison screenshots. In this comparison you can see the visual improvement that this pack brings to the table.
