What has made you happy today?
Unprompted questions to the Princess
"...What was that?"
Zelda looked up from where she was knelt before the construct, providing a bit of repair for its withered parts. The question took her off guard, as the constructs and their intelligence so often did—such complex thoughts for a creature meant as machinery...
and yet, she, the one made of flesh and blood, struggled to find an answer.
"...I'm not sure," she finally admitted with a small smile dampened by tilted brows, "I suppose...it isn't something I have thought about in some time..."
Happiness. When was the last time she felt happy? She must have, surely—with Link, she thought, with Purah, and Impa, and—well, studying the ruins, and—her school, of course, her students—she was happy when she was around them. Right? That warmth, that feeling of belonging, however temporary it was, that was happiness...right?
Was happiness found, or was it learned?
Zelda patted the construct and fixed her smile.
"I'm happy being with you right now," she finally settled, and it felt close enough to the truth, "now then—just a bit more, and you'll be all done. Alright?"

Were you afraid to become a Champion?
"Yes." She says plainly. It was a matter of fact. One she cannot deny.
She looks out towards her domain and sighs, gaze regarding her home with a twinge of sadness as she cups a fist against her chest.
There is a heaviness inside of her, but she knows she cannot let it consume her. For despite her fears, she had hope.
"But I wouldn't trade my position for anything else in the world. I know my duty is to Hyrule, and if it means stopping the calamity from destroying so many lives, then I will do it time and time again." She says, bolden by her decision. There is fear in her heart, and there always will be, but that fear was swayed; knowing that she had her fellow champions at her side, as well as a knight whom she trusts with her life, a princess she was willing to lay down her life for, and an angel watching over her. With them, she felt she could do anything.
She is afraid, yes, but she is unyielding.
Should something happen to her, she knew she could trust her people to do the right thing.

What is your relationship with Ghirahim like?
Just hearing the name makes his blood boil, but he keeps an outwardly calm but callous appearance. It's only a question, a curiosity.
"Close before he betrayed my trust. I do not wish to speak of it, so I suggest refraining from inquiring more."

Which minions have served you the best?
A low rumble of humor echoes from the King of Evil as he leans back in his throne, both solid arms draping over the armrests with an air of absolute confidence. Sharp, electric eyes glint with a mixture of both amusement and pride.
"My mothers, Koume and Kotake." The words flow out of him with a deliberate weight; measured, yet unshakable. "They forged me, strengthened me, and upheld my rule with an unwavering loyalty that none of my own sisters could rival."
"The witches were the architects of my rise to power. Relentless in their pursuit of my dominance, they were unrelenting forces of unmatched destruction before I took Hyrule."

How do you keep your skills sharp?
"At least weekly training - daily, if I have the chance."
And that was active combat training - let alone conditioning. Some thought Urbosa's routines a bit much, though perhaps they assumed they were in service purely to the calamity, or that they were in some way abnormal to a Gerudo chieftain.
Truthfully, though she was an outlier in continuing her training at her age, she had followed the same routine since she was a teenager - normal Gerudo army conditioning followed by specialties to keep her from building up too much of an electric charge.

What will Ganondorf do once victory has been achieved?
" Perhaps many would assume I would REST, once I need fight no longer. But they would be fools to think a King has time for such things after victory. " Ganondorf spoke, sharpening his blade.
" I will have to dispose of any remaining threats, as well as relocate my subjects in ways that will best suite their needs. I will need to rebuild what was destroyed, and ensure the survival of my people and all who live under my rule. There will be negotiations with other factions to be considered, too, and an army to rebuild and train. I am not a king who will sit around and give out orders without lending a hand. "

What does the Korok hierarchy look like?
" Hierarchy? Pah– " Oaki shakes a disapproving nub at the Giraffe. " Everyone knows The Great Deku Tree is our father, so he lays down the rules. He isn't like… a King or anything snuffy like that! And he's really kind too! If we're within the Sacred Grove and Lost Woods he knows everything that's goin' on. "
The little Korok then turns a bit, and crosses his arms in a huff. " Then there's my siblings who have duties or talents… They claim they're more mature and should handle the harder jobs and keep the others safe. Which is stupid! They're all boring!! "

@query-bot asked: There's a time for fight and a time for flight, but have you ever frozen? What happened?
"It's... not something I like to remember - but when the Calamity first struck, when Zelda and I were heading back to the Castle, we were intercepted by a messenger from the knight-guard. He was just a kid. More than I was. Couldn't have been past even his first year of training. Fourteen, maybe fifteen years old."
"He was trying to get to us, to send us towards Hateno. His horse was injured - he was injured. Burns and cuts everywhere. He shouted his message to us from a distance."
"There was a guardian stalker following him and that was the first Zelda and I realized the Sheikah tech was compromised."
"The kid shouted for us to run - Zelda wanted to wait for him to go with us, get him somewhere safe. But the guardian's laser killed him in front of us. We were both in shock - a child killed in front of us without mercy, without thought, just pure malice."
"Neither of us could move until I saw that laser targeting Zelda. I had to protect her. I deflected the laser with my shield, hitting the guardian back before she and I finally turned and ran for Hateno."
"We couldn't save that child. He was dead before he even fell from his horse."

As royalty, one would imagine you've partaken in many fine desserts. Are there any particularly memorable ones?
“Well my favorite desserts are always pies or anything with custard,” she explained, though she wasn’t sure if those would be considered ‘fine desserts’ since they were pretty common across Hyrule. Everyone in Castle Town ate pie regardless of status.
“I suppose the more unique desserts would be items that have marzipan. Or leaches! I have seen some skilled bakers make very lovely colors and shapes from the jelly preserve!”

What is something you've lost? Did you ever find it again?
It's the way he looks at her when she's not looking back, or the way he searches for her in a crowded room and runs to her aide when needed; the care and devotion he puts into her wellbeing and how he would do anything for her. It's the way he loves her unconditionally. Why couldn't it be me?
Something she had lost... Was it ever hers to begin with?
"Uhm, next... next question, please."

What do you associate with the word Spirit?
"Typically, the visual of a soul or a nonphysical entity comes to mind, but there is another. Spiritual Magic gives a rainbow-colored visual, which divinity uses instead of Elemental or Ethereal Magic. Thus, it is an ability of the Six Sages, the Dovehearts, and Boarbloods like myself."
"You could say I see both representations melded together."

"Spirit" is unlike any other Sage designation. What does it mean to you?

" That's putting it lightly. I didn't really understand what it meant for me. It wasn't as self-explanatory as helping forests grow, or controlling water or shadow or light, or shooting fire from my fists. " Back then, she felt some of those others would suit her better as a warrior, or help her and her people more in general. Sage of Spirit...it was a nebulous title that meant very little to her then, in more ways than one. Until she began to understand the depths of her power. What she could do with them.
" Spirit is about balance, " she continued, tone taking on that of a teacher explaining a complex subject to her students. " It is life and death. The balance between the two. Usually, when we think of spirits, we associate them with death, what we become when we die. But our spirit walks with us in life, too, and it desires balance. When they are out of balance in any way, it shows, and it can affect the person in life just as much as it will when they pass on. It can determine whether they can pass on to the spirit world and rest or if they cannot. That is what it means to me...in short, anyway. "

Do you know how to dance?
"Kinghood is not simply a title bestowed upon a Gerudo man. Yes, it is my birthright, but before I could don the crown and ascend from Princehood to King of the Gerudo, it was my responsibility to embark upon a journey of comprehensive learning and arduous training: it was a regimen that spanned a multitude of subjects, all of which were vital to my succession. A wise Gerudo king must not only be learned, but he must have the experience to match his claims of knowledge."
"Among the many disciplines I was taught, dance held quite a prominent role. I was immersed in the traditional dances of my heritage and later on, I gained proficiency in a handful of Hylian waltzes in order to maintain formality and good faith among Hyrule's Royal Family and its many dignitaries."
"...You didn't ask, but among the many dances I have learned in my long life, there is one that resonates with me above all else and it is combat. It is a visceral, intimate change between adversaries, a ballet of blades, or fists, of wooden poles or steel staffs that demands both grace and precision. This particular dance is a true test of one's mettle and I find it is an art form that sharpens the senses to a razor's edge. Just like your typical dance, in combat, there is an unspoken dialogue that unfolds, it is an interplay of anticipation: each step taken is a measure of the your partner's movement. To engage in combat is to engage in a dance that lays bear the essence of one's character. A pursuit that demands not only mastery of the techniques themselves, but also an acute understanding of the opponent or partner. It is a dance that transcends mere physicality, delving into the realm of instinct for every performance."
"I hold a deep appreciation for the elegance and cultural significance of a myriad of dances, I have forged many cherished memories through dancing, particularly within the embrace of my own people. Through the language of traditional dance, I have cultivated many deep bonds and profound connections with a diverse array of cultures and the people they belong to. However, combat is a type of dance that speaks to the very core of who I am... It resonates with essense of my very being. Powerful and unrelenting."

Do you think you could be trusted to save the world alone?
"I don't know if anybody can be trusted to do that alone."
She leaned her head back, eyes closed as she imagined what her advisor's would say at her honesty.
"I would do everything within my power to do so, certainly. I would give everything that's mine to give, up to and including my life. And there are certainly forces which threaten the world that I could put down. But all of them? Nobody is that powerful. Not even our sisters in the stars."

Do you have a preferred weapon?
"My body is a weapon of its own and I do prefer close combat. I have trained in many traditional Gerudo martial arts and I favor my own fists and legs to fight when appropriate."
"Otherwise, I do find myself preferring a good spear."
