Reverse Unpopular Opinion: Cassandra (I blanked 😔 and hers is the first name that came to mind)

fave girl! Her dry wit and sometimes brash personality is very entertaining but of course she’s also very compassionate and loyal to a fault. Cassandra... like onion. I feel like I don’t know where to start but as an overview I think that TTS is more enjoyable (to me at least) with Cass framed as the deuteragonist alongside Rapunzel, because aside from the technical narrative aspects Cass is sort of on her own hero’s journey, but it’s mangled up and twisted along the way because of how heavily it intertwines with Rapunzel’s journey. (and I don’t use those terms negatively more just to describe that Cass’ “I Want” song marks the start of a pretty crazy tailspin). 

That’s why I’m largely so invested in what happens to Cass post-series; how does Cass heal from everything that has happened, making up for the harm she caused while reconciling the harm that was done to her? Who is Cassandra when she isn’t serving anyone? What does the world need to teach her in order for her to learn that there’s more to life than Destiny and Heroism, and that she has inherent value beyond these things? 

Also Eden Espinosa brings so much personality to the table through her vocal performance from her witty banter to her emotional outbursts to her killer songs which should not go without mention.

D1! Hands down. Mal’s characterization was peak, Carlos’ hair was natural, Jaylos had hella moments, Evie was serving murder vibes, and the Core Four’s bond was front and centre. What’s not to love, really?

Can I say Moana? I’mma say Moana. She’s a badass queen. 💖💖 (If we’re talking classics, I've always really loved Aladdin and Jasmine though!)

⚔️ Unpopular opinion about Descendants?

Alright, alright, alright. I'll be salty about a thing. I think it’s ridiculous to pull the whole “they should know better!!” card on literally any of the VKs. I see this happen a lot re: the love spell and just... listen. You can criticize Disney for making that romantic and marketing it to kids. By all means, please do. But in the context of the actual world? They were raised to be EVIL. Of course they don’t know better. That’s the point. You want to talk about someone who should know better? Let’s talk about Doug thinking stalking is cute and flirty. 💅

you get an excerpt from my reverse fairytale au, specifically where carlos acts out the plot of 101 dalmations. it takes place in the early 80s in an american city

He was just about to turn off the TV and head to bed when a knock sounded on the door. He set his cigarette in the ashtray and stood up, stretching his arms above his head and groaning as his joints popped. He walked to the door and opened it just a crack, keeping the chain hooked to the door frame.

In the doorway was Mal, and she smirked when she saw him. “Hey.” He unhooked the chain lock and opened the door fully.

“Hey.” He blinked at her. “Evie’s not here right now, she’s still at work.”

Mal examined her nails in a way that was too casual to not be deliberate. “I know. I’m not here to see Evie.” Her eyes flicked up to meet his, eyes shining a startling green in the dark hallway. “I’m here to see you.”

“Why?” His mouth moved before his brain did.

She fixed him with a flat, annoyed expression. “‘Cuz I want to.” She poked him accusingly in the chest. “You promised to come to a show with me.”

He froze. “Aw, shit. I did do that.”

🍎 Snow White: If you could ask any character for a five minute interview, who would it be and why?

If I thought I could expose him for the worm he is, I’d say King Beast. I’d have to be careful though because I wouldn’t put it past him to spin it in his favour. Probably would be way more effective to interview someone like Uma, who’s got natural confidence and charisma, plus I’d trust her to give honest and well thought out answers that would leave anyone who read/watched the interview with a lot to think about.
