Hello, everyone!

As you may know, a couple of years ago I wrote a Good Omens fic called Sit Tight, Take Hold. It kicked off an amazing friendship with a group of people who have now come together to organize a fundraiser to support an LGBTQ+ non-profit.

I'm really excited to announce that we are running a charity drive to support Rainbow Railroad alongside the release Good Omens Season 2 and the third and final part of the #rainbowroad series, Fools Rush In.

What is Rainbow Railroad?

Rainbow Railroad is a non-profit organization that works to relocate at-risk LGBTQ+ individuals to safety globally.

"As a result of Rainbow Railroad, more LGBTQI+ individuals can access lives free from persecution, and ultimately, we envision a world where LGBTQI+ people can live lives of their choosing, free from persecution."

If you've read STTH and AALS, you may remember that Formula 1 visits a multitude of countries that have poor human rights and are unfriendly to LGBTQ+ individuals. I vacillated between many charity organizations before settling on this one, which encompasses the global nature of the #rainbowroad universe and some of the challenges the characters face. Thank you, @kookaburra-laugh, for suggesting this charity!

Great! How can I help?

@dustandhalos, @blairamok, and @cinnabarmint are releasing prints of their art for #rainbowroad on Etsy. Art options include:

a. A 5x7 postcard pack of 6 prints featured in STTH!

b. An 12x18 poster of Crowley's C8ZR1 from part two, Accept A Little Spin

c. And last but not least, an 18x24 print of Ezira's signed Anthony Fucking Crowley poster.

Preorders open TODAY and will run for a month until Friday 9/1. Once preorders close, we will submit the orders to the various printers. All proceeds will go to Rainbow Railroad, minus the cost of printing and shipping orders. We hope to start shipping out merch mid to late-September. Depending on how many orders we get will depend on how quickly we can ship everything out, but we will keep you posted once preorders close.

Hopefully, if you order something and live in the US, it will arrive by the time Fools Rush In finishes posting on 10/13.🤞🤞🤞 We will be shipping internationally as well!

What the heck is #rainbowroad?

#rainbowroad is a trilogy about our favorite Good Omens characters reimagined as Formula 1 drivers. I have no idea how this came into my head beyond binging Good Omens and Drive to Survive at the same time. The final part of the main trilogy, Fools Rush In, is currently posting and slated to end on 10/13. It is COMPLETE.

Hey man! Just wanted to say that I just finished Accept a Little Spin and oh boy I have things to say! (all good things I promise). This is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever read! Your works are absolutely amazing. I love the way you portray the characters (esp. Danny winning lmao I’m a huge Danny fan). I’ve spent countless nights staying up (regrettably) too late reading. Your fic single-handedly got me flung into the pit that is F1 and now I look forward to race day in Sundays. I’m so excited to start on book 3 of the series!! As far as the book order goes... I do have an update! The order shipped and is supposed to arrive today! I haven't gotten shipping supplies yet, however. FAQ #rainbowroad for Rainbow Railroad Charity Drive

Hi everyone! As we've rolled out the first week of preorders, we have been getting a few questions, so I'm going to add them here.

FAQ under the cut! I will continue adding to the post if more questions come in.

Edit: Apparently Tumblr didn't like my numbered list and applied numbers to every paragraph I wrote, which was not my intention. Sigh.

1. This is less a question and more of a PSA to start. Why did I choose Rainbow Railroad as a charity? I wanted to conserve space on an already astronomically long post about the charity initially, so I'll take some time to elaborate here.

Rainbow Railroad works at a global level to secure safety for individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. They also are very transparent about how they spend their funds! I saw this news article today that Iraq has banned the word 'homosexual' because it doesn't align with the country's values. Rainbow Railroad is working to protect people in these countries, and it seemed like a good fit for a story about Formula 1.

If you remember from my notes, Formula 1 visits many countries that have poor human rights. The FIA--the governing body of F1--has banned any protests supporting BLM, the LGBTQIA community, and women as to not upset their sponsors. McLaren, Ezira and AJ's team, is owned by the Bahraini government and high profile members from Saudi Arabia. Both countries have scored low on their human rights.

Other examples of the FIA disregarding human rights include: continuing to race in Hungry where they banned any education about the LGBTQIA community in schools, hiring an openly homophobic race director to lead the Portugues GP, and refusing to allow drivers to boycott racing in Saudi Arabia by grounding all their flights unless they raced after a bomb went off a mile from the track. Former WDC Nelson Piquet openly used the N-word when talking about Lewis Hamilton and made crude, derogatory comments about Hamilton and his former teammate, Nico Rosberg, that were both homophobic and misogynistic in tone. While the FIA did ban Piquet from entering the paddock unless he did sensitivity training and community service, Max Verstappen--current WDC and basically Piquet's son-in-law--gave a very bland, dismissive statement about Piquet's comments and Redbull failed to comment at all.

I love this sport. I love the drivers. I love the engineering and technology that goes into creating rocket ships that eclipse 200 mph. I 100% loathe the politics and funding sources for the sport, and I wanted to do a charity drive to help offset that in any small way I could. /rant

2. Is the art included in the book? No, unfortunately. Initially, when the idea came around to print the book, we talked about including all the art and Notes and References. This book is now 428 pages and over two lbs. It is a behemoth, and a lot of our grand visions had to be cut to keep the book a reasonable size!

3. Why is shipping so expensive? Unfortunately, shipping internationally will cost us $20-40 dollars depending on where you live. Dust and I are shipping from our homes in two separate states and are already eating the cost of shipping for individuals who are ordering both art and the book. We averaged the cost of shipping and are going to cover the difference. This was the most affordable option, sadly!

4. Are you planning on printing parts 2 and 3? Tentatively, yes! If there's enough interest in the first part, I will consider doing AALS and Fools Rush In. I would probably release them at the same time. My goal is minimum 100 books for STTH, so if you're interested in the next parts, please spread the word!

I'm working with Mixam to get the damaged copies replaced, after which, I can open up the waitlist. I will have about 4-5 copies available. If you would like to be on the waitlist, reach out to me!

This past summer, I did a print run of the first part of the series, Sit Tight, Take Hold and printed 94 copies for charity. Many readers asked for books 2 & 3, and I had many others express interest in a 3-part bundle who missed the first run. I've spent November, December, and January prepping the next parts for print, and I'm so excited to share them with you.

So, what is included?

Option for a 3-book bundle including:

Book 1: Sit Tight Take Hold 424 pages on matte 80lb text paper, color printing throughout. Cover has matte lamination in color. Dimensions of the book are 6x9x.93. Weight ~2 lbs Art by Blairamok (See cover art above)

PDF copies of all three parts

Option for a 2-book bundle including only Parts 2 & 3 + PDF copies. This is an option for people who already own the first book.

Limited option for Part 1 discounted damaged books (15 available). This does not include PDFs. These books have cosmetic damage to the covers from shipping. Damage does no affect the print quality of the text.

Where are the proceeds going?

Rainbow Railroad is a North American-based organization that works globally to ensure safety and asylum to LGBTQIA+ individuals. This is the same charity we donated to last time, and it was a resounding success. Last time, we were able to fundraise $1,600!

How much does shipping cost?

For US residents, bundles will cost a flat fee of $10. They will ship via media mail through USPS.

For anyone outside of the US, shipping has been estimated through the cheapest carrier, either USPS or UPS minus $10. Unfortunately, I cannot control the cost of shipping, and I know that it is extraordinarily high. The bundles will weigh anywhere between 4-6+ lbs, which is expensive to ship.

Wait, I'm from the US. Why am I paying more for Media Mail?

While Media Mail typically would cost $4-6, the increased price is to offset international orders, whose shipping will cost anywhere from $20-60 with the discount. I hope you understand. I want to make this as accessible as I can without personally eating any costs. I am not making any profit off of this project.

When do orders ship?

Once pre-orders close on 3/13, I will order the books. There is typically a 2-4 week turn around for them to be printed and delivered to me. I then have to package and ship everything from my house. I hope to have everything shipped 1 month after pre-orders close, but I am only human.

US mail should take 2-8 days. International orders can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, so please be patient.

If you are only ordering a damaged copy or postcards, both of which have already been printed, I will ship those out sooner.

When do I get my PDFs?

The PDFs and book proofs are the same, and they are 90% done. PDFs will be delivered via email by me once pre-orders close. I am still doing small changes and edits to make sure they are perfect!

If I order a bundle, do I also need to order PDFs if I want digital copies?

NO! PDFs are included with the bundles and only the bundles. You will not have access to them immediately, only once pre-orders close and I email them to you! Like I said, they are 90% finished, and I am stilling making small adjustments. (Kerning, I loathe you!)

What percent of proceeds are going to Rainbow Railroad?

100%! This excludes the cost of printing and shipping. For reference, the first print run cost $1,254 for the books alone, not including shipping and packaging supplies. Anything remaining goes directly to charity. I am not keeping any costs for labor or making any profit on this.

Wait, there's bonus content?

Remember when I said I was done after the trilogy? Well, @tut557 popped into the Discord server and said, 'Hey, what if they played Mario Kart...' This spiraled into a long conversation about all the different media promos they might do, and then I spent this past November writing another 50k of the #RAINBOWROAD universe for NaNoWriMo. This is also available on AO3, and I will be posting weekly while preorders are open. You can find it here.

#RAINBOWROAD for Rainbow Railroad fundraised an additional $1000 with the most recent book run! I cannot stress how grateful I am to everyone for participating by spreading word or purchasing copies of the #RR trilogy.

Supply costs: $97.18

Shipping costs: ~$300

Book:

Printing Costs: $1293.00

Delivery + taxes: $210.82

US shipping costs: ~$370

International shipping costs: ~$600-800

Rough estimate of net revenue: ~$1500 (this is assuming maximum costs)

Once everything is ordered and shipped, we'll be able to provide more solid numbers as well as our receipt to Rainbow Railroad.
