The 10 days trek to EBC starts with 30 minutes mountain flight from Kathmandu city to Lukla and a short hike to Phakding village. The flight offers cerulean landscape and serene picturesque of the Everest Himalayan range.
From Lukla, the trek begins through Pasang Lhamu Sherpa memorial gate to the Sherpas settlement at Cheplung, Thado Koshi, and Ghat village before the trail ascends to another beautiful green village Phakding. The trail traces through suspension bridge offering the first glimpse of the roaring Dudhkoshi river, Prayer wheels, Painted Mani wall, and around 500 years old monastery.
The trekking trail from Phakding to Namche Bazaar traces through the tallest and long suspension bridges and dense forest of Sagarmatha National park offering the introductory view of Kongde Peak (6,187 m) before the trail come across the villages Toktok Benkar, Chhamuwa, and Monjo. After crossing another suspension bridge at Chhamuwa village, the train halts at Monjo which is the entrance point to Sagarmatha National Park where purchase National Park permit to get the approval of Everest Base Camp Trek.
Everest Base Camp Trek Tail resumes to next stop Namche Bazaar through dense forest of Sagarmatha National park. The park is the highest national park of Nepal which is at 3,440 m altitude, it provides shelter to countless flora and fauna. The trekkers may encounter endangered birds, animals, or plants while treading inside the wood. The trekking trail also offers the introductory view of Mt. Everest under the blue canopy after crossing the suspension bridge over Dudhkosi (river).
Namche Bazaar is a popular ‘tourist hub’ and a popular stop for night stay in the Everest region hail the trekkers and tourists with all modern amenities. Although Namche Bazaar serves delicious cuisine and international beverage, the experts recommend not to eat unhygienic food and alcohol to avoid AMS in higher elevations. The trail from Namche Bazaar inclines towards the holy village Tengboche with the beautiful view of sparkling peaks: Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Taboche, and Thamserku. After meandering through a twisting and turning trail, the water-driven wheel near Phunke Tenga village inspires the trekkers to keep walking to the Tengboche monastery.
Tengboche is renowned for the sacred Tengboche gompa (monastery) which is encircled amidst the gigantic peaks: Taboche, Cholatse, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Khagtega, and Thamserku. The Gompa is the center of attraction for many national and international Buddhist pilgrims during the Mani Rimdu festival in the month of October and November.
The well-preferred stop of many trekkers in the Everest region is ‘The Summer Valley' Dingboche. The trekkers enjoy sun-bask in the village as the sun stays till evening. The village also offers the vista of serene dusk in the dimming sky and grants the opportunity for the perfect shot of silhouette. The peculiar feature of the village is the fields surrounded by stones wall to protect the crops from the icy and sandy wind. The trekking trail from Dingboche then leads to other Sherpa village Lobuche via Thukla. The village lies near the foot of the Khumbu glacier and offers the panoramic sight of towering snow-capped Lobuche east (6,119m), and Lobuche west (6,145m) with a view of Everest Base Camp on the glacier with Khumbu icefall. The village is small and has limited tea houses so the trekkers have to share the dormitory during the peak season. Lobuche is popular among trekkers for night stay.
As the trails leads gradually uphill through moraine glacier, sandpit, and boulders along Imja river valley, the trekkers feel the trail more strenuous while heading to Gorakshep which is (5,180m). The village is the last human settlement in the Everest Himalayan region which serves the trekkers with internet access and cozy accommodation. It is a platform to ascend Everest Base Camp (5,364m) or Kala Patthar Summit (5,643m). The hike from Gorakshep to EBC is the most awaited journey for all the trekkers. Trekkers feel gratitude and blessed for the perfect scenery of Khumbu icefall and Nuptse (7,861m). Enjoy the most precious time at EBC and celebrate your triumph by singing dancing and capturing photos and videos.
The prime highlight of Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek is a short trip to Kala Patthar summit in the early morning for the sparkling sunrise over Mt. Everest and Nuptse. The trip is so rewarding as it offers a 360-degree view of the Himalayan range and panoramic landscape. After spending some wonderful hours at the peak, the trail drops down to Gorakshep where trekkers devour their breakfast before heading towards Pheriche. Eventually, the trail declines to Namche, and then Lukla following the same route accepts Pheriche for the thrilling mountain flight to Kathmandu
