Past Photo Favorites - Raven Chasing Red-Tailed Hawk - I remember watching this last March. Ravens are very territorial around nesting season and there was a raven’s nest nearby. It was quite a sight to see these two large birds flying across the sky. Red-tailed Hawk left with the sky to itself. - photos from the larger collage. A View Of A Chase In The Sky - Raven Chasing Red-Tailed Hawk - It was quite a sight to see these two large birds flying across the sky. I didn’t get the impression that this was serious but perhaps that’s because I couldn’t tell what the 2 birds were. After looking at the photos it was close contact a couple times. I didn’t hear the hawk but I sure heard the raven. I wonder if it was doing the raven equivalent of trash talking? 🤔 I have seen and photographed these encounters several times now. These are 2 of the largest birds around; only the Turkey Vulture is larger in this area. As you can see, at the end, the hawk was the bird left in the sky within my view. Fun With Photoshop - Two Ravens Chase A Red-Tailed Hawk Over The Rio Grande A combination of two photos. I “cut out” the raven and the red-tailed hawk from my photo and I cut out another raven from a different photo of mine then placed them into my photo of the Rio Grande as seen from White Rock Overlook in Los Alamos County, New Mexico. It seemed that it’s likely that a chase like this actually did occur over this landmark at some point as I have seen and photographed such a chase over Santa Fe a short distance as the raven’s fly from this location.
