Trying to get Mammon to Confess

Thank you to @ravenvelith for both beta reading and editing this for me. Best wife ^_^

Mammon sits there, staring at M/C for what feels like the longest time. They still haven’t noticed him, their nose buried in the textbook they are reading, getting ready for the upcoming exam on Devildom history. He didn’t know how much longer he could hold in his feelings, but every time he tried to tell them, it was like he couldn’t speak in coherent sentences.

As he is lost in his thoughts, he doesn’t notice Beel approach M/C, snacks in hand.

“Hey M/C, I know you’ve been studying for a while, so I brought you a snack!”

M/C jumps in surprise and clutches at their chest, not having heard Beel approach. “Beel, I appreciate the thought, but you really need to announce your presence sooner! I almost had a heart attack!”

“Sorry...I just thought you might like something to eat, you’ve been studying for hours. Take a break.”

Why is Beel here? I, THA GREAT MAMMON, should be tha one bringin’ M/C a snack!

Before Mammon can walk over and interrupt, M/C leans up to give Beel a kiss on the cheek.

"I really do appreciate it." Their stomach rumbles, causing them to chuckle. "Apparently, my stomach does, too. Thank you, babe." M/C takes the food from Beel, smiling.

Wha-why would they kiss Beel?! Babe?!

Mammon bursts out of his hiding spot, shouting.

"Whatdya think yer doin'?! Ya should be kissin' tha Great Mammon! I was yer first, so I'm tha one ya should be doin' that with!"

"Mams, what are you talking about? Did you not know Beel and I were together?"

Mammon's face drops. The person he loved, his M/C, was already dating one of his brothers. Would they be with him if he had already confessed?

"No, I, uh, didn't…'m happy for ya. I'll leave ya to it then…" Mammon walks away feeling dejected.

M/C sighs. “Beel, I don’t think that worked. I just want him to admit his feelings, you know? But instead, I think I really hurt him. I’m gonna go talk to him.”

Beel nods. “Maybe we shouldn’t have listened to Levi.” *munch munch munch*

“I guess. I just thought an anime trope might actually help in this situation, not make it worse…”

M/C walks down the hallway to Mammon’s room and reaches up to knock on the door, when they hear muffled sobs. Is...is Mams crying? Fuck, I really messed this up. While trying to figure out whether they should go ahead and knock or just give him some space and come back later, Mammon opens the door, tear streaks evident on his face.

“EEEEHHHHHHH?! M/C, what are ya doin’ here? Why aren’t ya hangin’ in the library with...Beel?”

“Mams, I-fuck, how do I say this? Beel and I aren’t dating?”

“WHAAAAA?!?!?”

“Levi and I thought if I made you think I was dating someone else, it might get you to finally confess how you feel, like in the slice of life and romance animes we watch. I should have realized it would have hurt you, but I was getting desperate.” M/C waves their hands around in exasperation.

“What are ya talking about? I don’t have feelings for ya!” He looks down, trying to hide the blush on his cheeks.

Fuck this, M/C thinks. Since I’ve tried just about everything else at this point, might as well just be direct.

“Look, Mams, it’s not Beel I want to be with, or any of your other brothers. It’s you, always has been.” Mammon opens his mouth to interject. “No, let me finish, please. I’m sorry for trying to make you jealous, it wasn’t fair to you. But dammit, Mammon, it’s like nothing seems to get through to you! I love you, Mammon, as more than a friend, more than my first. Everyone else can clearly see it except for you. I knew you were oblivious, but jeez.” M/C takes Mammon’s hand in theirs. “I’m in love with you, Mams.”

Mammon stares at M/C, eyes wide and mouth open, gulping air like a fish, not knowing what to say, causing M/C to laugh.

“Wha?! What are ya laughin’ at?!”

M/C wipes a tear from their eye, still laughing. “You, ya big dummy. I pour my heart out to you, and you get that look on your face.”

Mammon begins to stammer. “W-w-w-w-well of course ya’d confess to lovin’ the Great Mammon! I was your fir-” M/C cuts Mammon off with a kiss. “Mmmh…”

They pull away from each, both blushing. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long now, and I knew that’d be the only way to shut you up. Now, you’re also my first kiss with a demon.” M/C smirks.

Mammon looks at M/C. “Can...can you do that again?”

“Oh, does the Great Mammon want another kiss? I guess I, the little human, can grant the big, bad demons' wish,” they say with a sly smile.

“Well, yer no longer just any human…” Mammon’s voice lowers as he starts to mumble. “Yer my human…”

“What was that? I didn’t hear you.” They definitely heard, they just want to give him a hard time.

“...I said yer my human.”

“Damn right I am.”

Nagisha and Rinrin darling look at you and without a second thought they both pitter patter towards you, not before making sure that both Hawoo and Sou join them. Nagisha grabs hold of his older brother’s hand while Rinrin does the same with Sou. They are both led to your side, two darlings in each. Nagisha and Rinrin waist no time and begin to give you a big warm darling size hug. It takes Sou a little longer to finally join in the hugging… a little awkwardly but is soon wagging his tail in content. Hawoo however, is more shy than Sou and decides to gently hold and caress your arm as he whispers very sincerely that everything will be okay…
