HE COULD SENSE her fiery looks, everywhere he went. Dakota stared at him from the opposite side of the quad, and he stared back. Their whole routine had started becoming entertaining to him. He was sure he had started provoking her just for the thrill of it. The girl beside him had no idea, but it didn't really matter. During the whole party, he had bought her a beer, planted a kiss on her forehead, and put his arm around her shoulders - that was the perfect recipe to piss Dakota Campbell off. He took another sip of his beer before excusing himself and standing up, walking in her direction. "Something's bugging you or what?" he asked, knowing exactly what she was about to say.

❝  please  tell  me  you’re  having  a  better  day  than  i  am,  ❞  bellamy  begins  with  a  huff,  landing  in  a  melodramatic  heap  next  to  dakota  on  the  blanket  she  has  laid  out  in  the  quad.  the  sun  is  shining  and  warming  her  cheeks  with  its  rays,  yet  there  seems  to  be  a  perpetual  metaphorical  raincloud  over  bellamy’s  head.  chocolate  hues  squint  away  from  the  sun,  holding  up  a  hand  to  block  the  light  so  she  can  get  a  good  look  at  dakota.  ❝  you  look  super  cute  in  that  top,  by  the  way.  i  hope  you’ve  been  getting  compliments  on  it.  ❞

rowan met dakota when he was nothing else but caught in the chaotic whirlwind of life. she was fun , gorgeous , and distant—the perfect recipe for rowan's noncommittal rage. he knew not to expect anything grand out of a relationship that he cannot fully open himself into , and before he knew it , it ended as fast as it began. for awhile rowan couldn't find himself reaching out to her. perhaps , the guilt? the embarrassment? bottom line , the ego of the man was bruised for being inadequate. ❝ quite surprised to see you outside , basking in the sun and not holed in the darkroom. ❞ rowan comments as soon as he found the nerve to come up to her. he thought that perhaps it is the right time to turn a new leaf. ❝ how are you? i would assume the kickoff party took a toll on you too , seeing as i bought two cups of coffee. but i guess one's enough for now. ❞ rowan hands the other coffee cup towards her. his own version of a peace treaty.
