(“This.. is the business.. we have chosen..” what’s that from!?!? 🔥🎥 Happy pre-weekend lol) . #Repost @thewritingchampionsproject ・・・ Every once in a while I’ll stumble across something that makes me stop and take a deep breath: Yes. That. I’ll pause, take it in for a moment, chewing on it for a bit, tasting it, before swallowing it and making it a part of myself.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yesterday, that happened in a random moment spent on Medium, when I came across an article by Ayodeji Awosika called “The Difference Between Good and Bad Writers,” (2018). Here’s what he said that crashed against me and stuck:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ “Your job as a writer is to distill the chaos and the complication of the world into something that people can understand, use, relate with, and pull apart at the same time.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Deep breath: Yes. That.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ How that happens in the space between your head and the ink as it hits the page is often a beautifully ugly process that drops junk onto the counter and then cuts and mixes the ingredients into chewable, tasty morsels that sit on the palette just right.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There’s a viral video going around today of a teacher in Oregon stopping a school shooting. The video shows the teacher taking the gun, handing it off to another teacher, who disappears from the frame. What hits me in the heart, though is the teacher wrapping his arms around the wouldbe shooter, holding him, and heart wrenching emotion that unfolds between the two people. The image hits me in the chest, hard, and tears punch against the backside of my eyes. This video captures both the ugly and beautiful in a series of images. It’s a micromoment of both the hardship and hope of humanity captured in that hug that says, “I’ve got you.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Deep breath: Yes. I am not a writer

but I want to tell stories and share my thoughts. Stories make life more interesting. Stories hold our history, our memories, and our dreams. However, most stories are orally passed and thus easily altered. Thoughts constantly flow. They are about anything and everything our brain comes up wtih. The sheer amount of thoughts each person has in his/her life makes it difficult to remeber even the best of them all. That is why there is value in writing them down. That is why I want to write these down.
