I wished for a Bioshock movie for Y E A R S
but now that we're finally getting one I don't want it
I do not have faith this is going to be a good adaption, I'm sorry, maybe 10 years ago this could have been a great passion project (especially if Gore Verbinski had been involved like originally planned) but I just know it's going to be an over-actioned, improperly funded (since it's a Netflix production they're absolutely going to either dump too much or not enough money in it then write it off as a failure if it doesn't 'perform' well enough), CGI-laden slop fest that doesn't even acknowledge or properly handle half the themes present in the series.

The one reason I will and always will encourage gatekeeping in fandoms/nerd culture is because without gatekeeping we get the stupidest ass opinions from people on all sides of ideology spectrum.
like the one I saw today:
"Women ruined Mad Max!" Women have always been an integral part of Mad Max and you're a fake fan, does Tina Turner as the smooth jazz queen of the apocalypse Auntie Em mean NOTHING to you

Like all Pokemon fans I also have an innumerable list of grievances with Pokemon despite it being one of my favorite game series, but I think the biggest one that fully turned me away from mainline games entirely (besides the fucking terrible artstyle change from pixel sprites to the awful plastic-looking 3D models) was just how many parts of the DS and up games were/are reliant on online social features and hardware. Such as:
living in a large urban environment with access to people who ALSO play the games (so if you were rural you were fucked, looking at you trading, Pokemon GO, and StreetPass functions)
having access not just to internet BUT ALSO having access to online features that have an indeterminable lifespan and could be shut off at any time, rendering entire swaths of game features inaccessible (secret bases in the DPP games, the Dreamworld stuff in B/W, etc.)
having access to hardware-specific features (MALAMAR MALAMAR OH MY GOD MALAMAR AND THE FUCKING "TURN THE DS UPSIDE DOWN" BULLSHIT)
Anyway, ROMhacks have their own hosts of problems, but at least it's not fucking this.

The fact that my mother is watching yet ANOTHER Yellowstone marathon makes me wish for the sweet release of death the show to end once and for fucking all just so that Wes Bentley can find new work that isn't this shitshow.
I've watched some of the shittiest of shitty indie movies for that man, I watched the shit he made when he was still hooked on heroin and actually stoned on camera, I watched the absolutely DOGSHIT pre-MCU adaptions of fucking Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider out of devotion to that man, but god, I'm not strong enough for this.

Having been in a couple writing circles at this point I can safely say writers come in two flavors:
People who are relatively nice and fun to talk to and at worst might slip into being cringe on occasion (but really, who doesn't have those moments?)
People who have clearly never had interaction with another human being in their entire life and are the most bizarre and obnoxious ever
And there is no in-between.

If you'd told me four years ago that Overwatch would turn into Fortnite but with even less morals (which is saying something) I would have said you were crazy, but here they are, no doubt hoovering up weeb money with a Cowboy Bebop collaboration.
Unfortunately, as we all know from the gacha community alone, weebs will throw bucketloads of money at stupid jpegs, and nevermind the ethical ramifications of it.

Everyday we give weight to the opinions of illiterate teenagers and those who have the emotional maturity of teenagers over actual adults with reading comprehension and I for one am so fucking sick of it.

Coincidentally that last post is why I ended up leaving both City of Heroes servers I was originally in, a lot of those people were just utterly nightmarish comic book fans and people with authority complexes.
