In 1946, the very first X-File of the FBI was opened by J Edgar Hoover about a series of murders in and around the North West. The murders had the characteristics of both a wild animal and of being done by a man. Due to the bizarre and unsolved nature of the crimes, Hoover had the files locked away in the first X File (“Shapes” X Files, TV)

✨Trivia for “Anasazi”✨
-  The tagline for this episode is Éí 'Aaníígóó 'Áhoot'é, which means "The Truth is Out There" in Navajo.
-  Since the Vancouver canyon's rock was naturally gray, it was painted red to seem more like the Southwestern US.
-  To create the impression of a buried train carriage, a depression had to be blown into the ground and thirty-two dump trucks worth of debris removed.
- Peter Donat (Bill Mulder) had been in a really bad car accident just prior to shooting. It's a testament to the show's expert make-up department that you can't see any of the bruising on his face.
-  Renae Morriseau plays Josephine Doane, a Navajo translator. She previously played Gwen Goodensnake in the X-Files episode “Shapes”.
-  Chris Carter has a cameo as an FBI Agent.
-  Both Mulder and Scully are shot for the second time in the series. Scully gets a scratch on her head while in Mulder's apartment, and Mulder is shot in the shoulder by Scully to avoid his killing Krycek.
-  "Anasazi" is ranked #5 in the WatchMojo countdown "Top 10 X-Files Episodes"
- When early seasons of the show were re-released in 16:9 widescreen for home video and streaming services in 2016,  sections of gray, unpainted quarry were visible at the edges of the frame which would not have been viewable on 4:3 televisions at the time of original broadcast
 -  This episode's story was inspired by series creator Chris Carter being fascinated with the Anasazi tribe of Native Americans and was further influenced by a vacation he took to Sedona, Arizona.
-  Carter said of the installment's creation, "This episode was the culmination of a lot of ideas [....] David Duchovny and I worked quite closely on the story and he had a lot of input, and then I sat down and wrote the script."
 -  According to Carter, Duchovny was instrumental in coming up with the idea of seemingly killing off one of the series' two lead characters at the end of the episode.
- The fistfight between Mulder and Krycek in this episode was choreographed by David Duchovny and Nicholas Lea themselves, as the stunt coordinator had been stuck in traffic. Since Lea was required to repeatedly snap his neck like he was taking a punch, Director ordered a massage therapist to Lea's room the next morning.
- Even years after this episode aired, David Duchovny routinely left phone messages for Nicholas Lea that jokingly accused Lea of having murdered Duchovny's father, due to Krycek killing Mulder's father in this episode.

The X-Files S1, E19: "Shapes"
The X-Files S1, E19: “Shapes”
I’ve been delving into the popular sci-fi series The X-Files for a while now, making many attempts and failures to engage with its first season. Since the summer, and I’ve been weaving in and out through the series’ various episodes, trying to piece the gigantic enterprise together. It may seem strange for me to go back and recap an over two decades old television show, in some ways that type of…
