SERENDIPITY
“The phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for." This definition lacks of something. Serendipity is not just good fortune. Serendipity happens when your eyes are wide open to the unexpected. It starts with a state of mind, and somehow, it’s something you provoke. In other words: to win the lottery, you must play the game. Let’s Play!

“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,” ‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭4:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

ULABOX DAY
As part of our RESET, we’ve started an experiment: going to work one day at the offices of companies and projects we are curious about. The idea is to be an implant for one day, joining their meetings, sharing mutual experiences and observing like if we were invisible. Ulabox, the online supermarket which is redefining online shopping in Spain, has been our first stop.
It was a great day, plus two sentences to think about:
“Never Trust Someone Who Doesn’t Enjoy Food.” “There are two types of salesperson: the unrelenting salesperson and the salesperson who doesn’t sell at all.”
Do you want us in your office for one day?

LEARNING HOW TO STOP
Confucius said: “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” Words of Wisdom. But we could go a little bit further. Earth is moving at a speed of 30 kilometers per second, so does our society. Therefore, in a world in constant movement we can pause for a while without really stopping. Stop-and-go.

ABOUT FAILURE
“Failure is a stepping stone to greatness.” (J.K. Rowling). The cult of failure has been growing in the past decades. “Failure Is Good for Success” they say. But this mantra hides a potential danger: conformity. Failure per se is not good. Failure is something to avoid. Failure sucks. And sometimes we simply cannot afford failure. Is it there something good on failing when solving important problems like climate change or refugee crisis?
Anyway, shit happens and failure occurs time after time. So when it happens, it’s time to make the most out of it. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn”.

Inspirational Projects. 001 yök Casa + Cultura
“At yök Casa + Cultura we offer eco-friendly accommodation and cultural activities based on the real Barcelona, for both locals and travellers!. yök Casa + Cultura is based on good design. Eco-friendly, social, local, practical and fun, paying special attention to aesthetics, authenticity and the world around us. Think of it as a professional B&B, good for people, planet and profit.”
The yök manifesto
1. Reflect the real Barcelona at all times: that of its locals, not of the tourist guides. Do not practice mass tourism, foster elegant tourism. 2. Be a social hub where visitors meet locals and unusual things happen. This is a place to be, not a place to stay the night. 3. Invite guests to bring and share their culture because everyone is a local somewhere. 4. Think Slow. Co-create experiences by actively involving like-minded, independent, local brands in the business. This is a place that couldn’t be anywhere but in Barcelona. 5. Be transparent and truly sustainable. Drastically reduce the ecological footprint of the activity through eco-innovation and sustainable design thinking. 6. Be more than an eco-project. Use embedded sustainability without sacrificing lifestyle. Less preachy, more inspirational. 7. Be good for People, the Planet and Profit. Create a successful business that makes the world a little bit nicer for everyone. 8. Size matters. Stay flexible and keep it personal. Guests should not feel like a room number but instead feel like they are staying at somebody’s very special house. 9. Apply good design (useful, beautiful, fun, detailed, eco-friendly, functional, affordable, long-lasting, honest, local) to everything: interiors, business model, service, activities, and shop. 10. Be social, online and offline. Be connected to guests, locals, the city, modern culture, tradition and nature., online and offline. Be connected to guests, locals, the city, modern culture, tradition and nature.

RESET
Restart.
Reinvent.
Reorganize.
Regenerate.
Reevolution.
Reboot.
RESET.
After 8 years working to create brands that will change the world, on January 1, 2016, Carlitos and Patricia has started a RESET.
Back in 2008 when we started this unconventional "idea company" called Carlitos y Patricia, Lehman Brothers was still operational and mortgages were granted for almost nothing; Facebook was something just for insiders, no one knew what a hashtag was and hipsters had not yet grown their beards.
In 2008 our model based on a core senior team supported by an ecosystem of external talent was still somewhat unconventional. To think on projects not clients nor campaigns was also an exception.
Eight years later it is time to restart. The world has changed. The industry has changed. And we, the people behind the company and the company itself have changed. We reinitiate because change is always positive. Because we believe that "always in beta" is more than a nice t-shirt slogan. And above all, because our guts feel like changing.
Our RESET will not be Sagmeister's Sabbaticals (we'd love to have the status to stop for a year), although many of the reasons that move him to it do so every seven years are ours too. We are inspired by El Bulli which closed to reconvert itself into something else or by R/GA that reinvents itself every nine years changing its business model (they are in their 4th reinvention). If we look for inspiration for change and innovation, better to copy the good ones :@) :@)
We have set ourselves three months to RESET, although they may be six. And because we want the result of this RESET to be free of legacy systems, we said goodbye to our office La Plaza with a big party (eight years well worth an epic hangover). Additionally, we sold all the stuff we had in the office, raising money for a beloved charity project. We feel that our new headquarters might be at a surprisingly location and we want to build it from the scratch
During this time, we will add extra energy to our parallel enterprises leaded by our social project 1010 WAYS TO BUY WITHOUT MONEY, now on its way to become a non-profit foundation. Whatever we'll become after the RESET, these projects will be a very important part of it.
As a company, these RESET months will mean to be more active than ever in what we've called "Business as Unusual". Our core team won't leave, but we will use the RESET period to rethink how we work together and with you.
We are open to talk about any new project o idea never seen before. We will use these months to share fresh approaches with clients and partners, to incubate new business areas. Follow us here to be part of the daily life of our RESET and to give and receive feedback. RESET is mostly about observing, experiencing, talking and listening, simple things far from reach at the frantic daily life.
Welcome.
The conversation is open at [email protected]
