Post-covid cons have had an influx of attendees who have never been to a con before, and that's great! But I've also seen a rise in some slightly inconsiderate behaviour so I'd like to do a little post on what is generally considered good manners when attending a convention:
1️⃣ Ask before taking photos, whether it's of cosplays, stalls, traders, or merch. It's very rude to approach a table, take a photo of their stock without asking, and leave.
2️⃣ Don't comment on the prices of merchandise at exhibitors' tables. If you think something is too expensive, keep it to yourself; traders need to make money from their art and have likely already priced items fairly. Related, but in general don't make negative or jokey comments about someone's merchandise in front of them. Or at all, honestly.
3️⃣ Don't try to haggle or ask for bulk discounts. Conventions are not farmers' markets or retail stores.
4️⃣ Please try not to take up too much of the exhibitors' time by chatting. It can be really exciting to meet a creator, and a lot of traders are really friendly and enjoy talking to customers, but please remember that this is also a workplace for traders and they need to sell. If an exhibitor excuses themself because there are other customers waiting, this is usually a good point to thank them for their time and say goodbye so they can continue working.
5️⃣ Try to avoid placing anything on the exhibitors' tables, including bags but especially drinks and food. This can at best mess up a display and at worst ruin merchandise, putting exhibitors out of pocket.
6️⃣ If you are waiting to look at one table in particular, be courteous of neighbouring tables. Do not stand in front of other tables because you are queueing or just standing chatting with friends, as you are likely blocking other potential customers from seeing that table.
7️⃣ An extra point raised by @pppondi - feel free to ask to have a look through books and comics, but don't read the entire thing then put it back. That's why they're on sale, so you can read them!
☀️ I really do hope this helps someone! Some of these guidelines might not be obvious but it makes for a better con experience for both you and the exhibitors; traders are less stressed and you get to interact with happier creators. If you have more suggested guidelines for people who are starting to attend cons please feel free to share, but also remember that a lot of shy, anxious, and neurodivergent folk attend cons. I'm trying to be constructive, not just list "weird" behaviour.

Daryl Dixon • She/Her Pronouns • When the shelf collapsed on Bob, it wasn’t just Bob under there…and he didn’t get the worse of it • ANGST/SFW • TW: Concussion / Injuries / Unconsciousness / Illness / Mentions of Nightmares / Sleep Deprivation

“Alright. We go in, stay in formation for the sweep” Sasha stated the plan in regards to entering the supermarket a few of them spotted on a run a while back. “After that, you all know what you’re supposed to look for. Any questions?”
“Was there ever a time that you weren’t the boss of me?” Tyreese questioned his sister who couldn’t help the smirk on her face.
“You had a few years before I was born” then the group started to flood into the building.
Except Bob lingered for a moment staring at half of a walker. Y/N took note of his lag and waited for him at the doors that when he turned toward her, she gave him a questioning look in matters of if he was okay or not. All he did was nodded before the two caught up with the others.
Everyone explored the place for what they needed, and of course whatever they needed. Daryl kept to himself mainly keeping an eye out for the standard essentials: food, water, meds…the good stuff. He occasionally would stop when he would find Y/N knelt down to the floor examining something which peaked his interest but before he could go question it, Glenn stepped over kneeling beside her.
“What are you doing?” He kept his voice low, in case of walkers. They all were.
“When I worked retail we kept some overstock in bins under or on top of the aisles…I know this place was used as a quarantine base and people were in here. But it’s worth a shot” Y/N reached carefully to feel for any pull and when she felt something, she tugged on it resulting in the overstock she had mentioned. “Jackpot”
“Thank god you agreed to come with us on this run. How long has it been since you’ve left the prison?” Glenn comments while repeating the action to another 4x4 section and flagging Sasha over to do the same on the opposite side of Y/N.
“Since uhm. Andrea.” Y/N gave him a sad smile before standing up and leaving the two to rummage through everything. Glenn watches her step away and gave Sasha a concerned look.
It’s been some time in the store and Y/N went from being with the group to lingering around after she had grabbed what was asked of her. She wasn’t doing what the others were doing after they had grabbed what they needed for the community. There was plenty of interesting finds that some had grabbed but she didn’t think much of anything she saw. Except for this dorky little keychain at one of the cashier displays, it made her smile and he noticed it.
“Y/N, mind giving me a hand with something? Can’t seem to find what I’m looking for” Bob silently called for her as Y/N quickly pulls herself away to help.
Daryl quietly revealing himself from the aisle he was watching her from and approached the cashiers to take a closer look at what she was looking at. It was indeed a dorky looking keychain of a kiwi. But right as he picked it up that’s when the crash happened.
“You alright?” Daryl asked the second he came over to the fallen wine shelves that were crushing whoever was under there.
“Y-Yeah I’m alright. I don’t think Y/N is though” Bob’s voice was hoarse and in a panic as Daryl quickly ran around the other side to find Y/N facing away from him but when she heard the rushed footsteps she slowly turned her head revealing the head lac.
“Hey, hey—-You with me? You gotta stay with me” Daryl states watching her eyes struggle to stay open.
“Y-…Yeah” Y/N groaned out as she tried to push against the shelf but given her state and the instability of it. It wasn’t a good idea.
“Don’t try and move. We’re gonna get yea both out” Daryl states about to get up when he heard her cough out a ‘wait’, making him instantly go back down. “You’re okay. You’re gonna be okay”
“D-Don’t go” Y/N’s voice cracked when saying such as her anxiety made this situation a whole lot worse but her head was also pounding at an uncomfortable rate that it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that she may be concussed.
“Alright. I’m staying.” Daryl reassures as he lifts his head up finding Zack already rushing over and quickly scanned around for another body, said being Tyreese. “Hey! We need a hand” and without a second thought, the man came rushing over helping the other lift the shelf off Bob first.
“What happened?!” Glenn yells over a few aisles when he heard the crash.
“Bob and Y/N are under some shelves!” Zack stated helping secure the shelf stay upright before moving onto the one right next to the middle one, the one Y/N is under.
“I was moving fast, man. I drove right into the drinks” Bob’s voice shook as he spoke while Tyreese gave him a quick hand up.
“You lucked out. If this thing had come down on you the wrong way—-“
“It did on Y/N, now hurry the fuck up and help me get this thing up and off her as well” Daryl interrupted his anger overshadowing his worry.
Right as the three lifted the one next to the one on top of Y/N, the roof collapsed in resulting in the others flocking over to the sound.
“Yeah, uh, we should probably go now” Glenn urges hearing the archer growl in annoyance.
“Y/N’s still stuck in there. Gotta get her outta there” Daryl snaps approaching one side of the shelf as Zack, Tyreese, and Bob joined him to get it lifted.
“I’ve got you covered until she’s out” Michonne states unsheathing her katana and slicing through the occasional walker as they seem to continue to fall from the sky.
The walkers were getting too much and they had to slowly start abandoning the idea of getting Y/N out and take care of the undead coming to give them more of a window.
“damn…sky is falling…” Y/N choked out as she took note of the crawling walker coming close to her while the commotion only continued around the scene. I’m going to die kept repeating in her already aching mind.
“We have to get her out now if we all are gonna make it” Zack states picking up the shelf making Y/N shift slightly but when she tried to sit up she immediately went down.
The archer quickly grabbed the crawling walker by the ankles pulling it back before crushing its skull with his foot. He quickly then ran over to Y/N carefully picking her up bridal style while Zack kept the shelf up.
What happened next…wasn’t..pretty.
A couple hours passed and the group returned to the prison, missing one of their people due to the usual unfortunate turns of events. The news had to be broken and Daryl took it upon himself to go deliver such while the others settled back in.
Beth was writing away in her journal when she heard footsteps to find Daryl by her cell door.
“Hey”
“Hi”
“What is it?” Beth asks with a hint of curiosity but given Daryl’s composure, her shoulders fell slightly.
“Zack” Daryl clears his throat keeping his gaze to the floor.
The young Greene kept silent for a moment before asking if he was dead, only for silence to be her straight answer. Beth quietly got up from her bunk approaching the sign she has that would hang up in some companies this workplace has had ___ days without an accident and removed the three in front of the zero. Making a whole month accident free back to zero. She knew he was still standing there and gave him a confused look.
“What?” Beth quietly approaches the cell door relaxing a bit. “I don’t cry anymore, Daryl. I’m just…glad I got to know him, you know?”
“Me too…” Daryl frowns bringing his gaze back onto the floor watching her feet come into view and a small nudge from her to get him to look back at her.
“Are you okay?” Beth questions, not receiving an immediate answer and decided to ask about what she does know. “Does it have to do…with Y/N? My daddy and the new doctor checked her out. A few stitches and a bad concussion”
“Yeah. Uh. I ain’t talkin’ about it” and on that note, Daryl stepped away knowing damn well he would’ve screamed if he heard the slightest reassuring thing.
He was taking it as his fault when it wasn’t.
The night only continued to stress Daryl out as he avoided her cell even if every fiber of his being fought against him. He took that night watch to be outside of the prison and let the cool night air try to flood the thoughts out. But it was ultimately failing.
________
Y/N latched onto Daryl making it difficult for him to try and get her in the backseat of one of the cars. He decided to just climb in with her and hold her the entire ride while Michonne took his bike back to the prison.
When the group initially returned, Rick knew of their return by the sounds of honking which they weren’t supposed to do because the wall was already weakening and the sound will only attract more to push it.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Rick asks Glenn who was driving as he quickly parks.
“Sorry we need Hershel, or Caleb. Whoever is available” Glenn didn’t even let Rick continue to scowled him as the retired sheriff nodded before running inside to get either of them while Sasha helped Daryl carefully get Y/N who about half way home started to complain about the dizziness that when she got out of the car she didn’t mean to shove Daryl off but she wasn’t about to vomit on him.
Y/N hunched over by the side of the car throwing up once more as she didn’t feel any better. Daryl stuck by her side holding her hair back as Tyreese tossed over his canteen to his sister who knelt down while opening it to try and get Y/N to take a sip. But the world was spinning for her that she tried to reach for it before failing and collapsing against the archer.
“GET FUCKING HERSHEL OR SOMEBODY ALREADY” Daryl snaps not caring for any kid within earshot of his cursing as he picked her up once more deciding to shorten the distance to wherever the docs are.
Soon Daryl found himself hovering outside Y/N’s cell while Caleb got the stitches done for her small head lac while Hershel kept asking questions that one would ask someone who’s concussed.
Do you know where you are
What’s your name
How old are you
Granted the man couldn’t ask what day it was or stuff like that because it is the apocolypse and time became irrelevant but she still answered the ones he asked.
“She’s going to be fine. But we’ll do hourly neuro checks.” Caleb states finishing the stitches and applying the bandage.
“I’ll stay with her to keep her up a little while longer just so we know she won’t hurt herself further with the concussion.” Hershel adds while Caleb cleans up.
Y/N was about to tell something to Daryl but when she looked at the door, he had walked away.
________
She was being taken care of. That wouldn’t have stopped him from also hovering but he was afraid of her slipping and losing her in the process.
Daryl was about to light his cigarette when he heard small tapping on the glass of the watchtower. He looks over and can barely see the small pebbles hitting the glass as if someone was trying to get his attention.
When he stepped out to investigate by shining his flashlight to whoever it may be. His anxiety rose when he saw Y/N standing at the surface hugging a blanket.
Y/N waited patiently for him to come down and she was prepared for his line of questioning.
“Why are you doing out here?”
“Rick came to check on me about an hour ago…told me where you were when I asked about you. Thought you could use a blanket”
“There’s…” Daryl knew she would do this, she’s done this before whenever he had watch. Come bring him things he didn’t exactly need but he appreciated it every time. “Why aren’t you in bed?”
“I…it’s..stupid” Y/N frowns averting her gaze while hugging the blanket close as Daryl stepped forward bringing him close to her.
“You can trust me”
“I can’t stop thinking about it…almost dying.” Her voice was low as she gently touched the bandage keeping her eyes still averted. “I…Uh…when the realization hit under the shelf and the roof was caving in…I just thought I was going to die and wouldn’t be able to say anything”
“…wouldn’t be able to say anything?”
“Wouldn’t be able to tell y—-“
“Y/N?” Maggie’s voice caught them both off guard as she approaches the two realizing she walked into something but saw past it for what she’s out there for. “My daddy is looking for you. To put a new bandage on”
“I could’ve done it my—-“
“Nah, go get checked by the doc” Daryl interrupts this time as he carefully took the blanket from her grasp. “I appreciate this…and we’ll talk later”
Y/N gave him a soft smile and a nod before leaving to go do such, leaving Maggie alone with Daryl a moment as she waited for their friend to enter the prison for her to speak up.
“I know how scary today was for yea. Next time, just tell her” Maggie gave him a small smile before going back to bed.
Then it seemed to only go down hill for everyone since that day. When the outbreak happened, Daryl instantly ran to where Y/N stood over one of the turned she had taken out and brought her into his embrace carefully. She quickly latched on holding onto him for a moment, or at least until they had to move the bodies and hold a council meeting.
Next to happen was turning Cellblock A into a Quarantine Zone, getting a group together to go out and get drugs, and take care of the fence. So much was happening…
That when the group were leaving the veterinary college after grabbing what they can. Bob dropped his bag into a sea of walkers as he gripped onto the strap to dear life tugging it back ignoring the others telling him to let it go. He swiped it hard enough to bring it back on the awning they stood on, the bottles clanging caught everyone’s attention especially Daryl’s.
Daryl knelt down picking up a bottle of booze slowly standing and giving Bob a glare. “You got no meds in your bag?” He shakes the bottle watching Bob try and look away. “Just this?”
Bob’s silence only started to brew the anger inside of him.
“You should have kept walking that day.” Daryl scoffs about to chuck the bottle, hearing Bob say ‘don’t’ while holding his hand over his gun.
The archer quickly got up in the man’s face keeping his ground as Tyreese and Michonne watched it unfold. The second he grabbed Bob’s vest, Tyreese spoke up.
“Just let it go, Daryl. The man’s made his choice. Nothing you can do about it” Tyreese states as Daryl releases Bob from his grasp. “Just gotta let it go”
“I didn’t want to hurt nobody…” Bob states keeping his gaze to his feet. “It was just for when it gets quiet. Would’ve never grabbed it now if she wasn’t in the aisle that day.”
That’s when he snapped and instead of chucking the bottle in that moment, his fist met Bob’s face making him drop harshly onto the fragile awning they stood on getting him dangerously close to the herd of walkers. Daryl knelt down to his level and before Tyreese could intervene, Michonne stopped him giving her friend the benefit of the doubt.
“You almost got the woman I love killed that day.” Daryl hissed out making Bob flinch as he drops the bottle by his face. “Take one sip. When those meds get in our people, I will beat your ass into the ground. You hear me?”
And with that Daryl left ahead of the others, no more words were exchanged.

Bonne-Fortune Grocery Set
Tumblr media
Published: 9-26-2023 | Updated: 9-28-2023 SUMMARY “The Bonne-Fortune series is the latest hit from Freezer Time Industries, receiving top honors at both FridgeCon and the ShinyThings, Inc. Expo. Give your store some retro-futuristic flair and bring all the customers to the yard!” This is a set of 13 moderately priced objects for grocery stores and other retail spaces. Shelves are designed to help you maximize space in/around displays, including a shelf (endtable OMSP) which holds objects at an angle. The set is intended to be modular but not too complicated – some assembly required (see below). Fridges function like shelves – so they won’t keep spoilable food from going bad. They have space for sale items and additional shelving but need to be shifted upward once. Several maxis-themed recolors and an invisible recolor (in case you need it for the carousel display) are included. Additional recolors are available on this site under the #ts2recolors and #co2recolors tags.
Tumblr media
DETAILS Requires All Eps/SPs. §100-500 | Buy > Surfaces > Shelves Buy > Deco > Sculptures Buy > Lighting > Standing/Floor Lamps Everything is repo’d to one of the following objects: Carousel Display End, and Fridge 001– these items are REQUIRED for textures, etc. to display correctly in-game. The Bonne-Fortune Carousel Lite uses whatever recolors you have for the EverGlow Plutonium Rod (Nighlife EP), including THESE. **Since the invisible recolor was made first, the game may reference it when regenerating thumbnails. This doesn’t impact the look/use of objects in-game at all. ITEMS
Tumblr media
3 Fridges Bonne-Fortune Refrigerator 001 (1328 poly), Bonne-Fortune Refrigerator 002 (1323 poly), Bonne-Fortune Refrigerator 003 (~1400 poly)
Tumblr media
Modular Shelving & Deco Bonne-Fortune Shelf 001 (572 poly), Bonne-Fortune Shelf 002 (534 poly), Bonne-Fortune Shelf 003 (572 poly), Bonne-Fortune Carousel Lite (pictured with a default neon recolor; 1048 poly), Bonne-Fortune Carousel End Shelf (572 poly), Bonne-Fortune Carousel Center Shelf (580 poly), Bonne-Fortune Area Signs 001-002 (576 poly)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carousel Display Bonne-Fortune Carousel Display End (1940 poly), Bonne-Fortune Carousel Display Center (383 poly), Bonne-Fortune Carousel Lite (pictured again with one of my Nightlife Neon Recolors applied)(1048 poly) DOWNLOAD (choose one) from SFS | from MEGA *A known game bug may disable some OFB shelf slots. Not all players experience this bug in the same way, but if you do – there is a long-standing fix for it. If you cannot access more than 2 slots on shelves, download ONE of these fixes: MORE_Custom-objects-placeable-on-shelves (Numenor, 2006) MORE_Custom-objects-placeable-on-shelves+LOCKEDTILES (Numenor, 2006) Object Freedom 1.02 (Fway, 2023) SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1) Place a refrigerator (remember to shift upwards once) or Carousel End/Center pieces (the carousel parts are deco; place end/center parts on the same tile). Use “move objects on/off” and/or “snap to grid true/false” cheats to add the second End piece to the carousel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Use the same cheats to place shelves but make sure to add your sale items to them first. Adding items first makes things easier because if you try to put objects above a shelf with empty slots, the game may think you’re trying to put it on that shelf (including other shelves).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) For the Carousel End Shelf (use it with the curvy part of the Carousel End), place an item on the shelf,  and shift it in place until the item looks like it is sitting on the carousel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) Take advantage of the invisible recolors OR use the OMSP Controller (select SilentLucidity OMSPs) to make this shelf invisible/visible as needed. Do NOT use the invisible recolor if you’d rather use the OMSP controller.
Tumblr media
5) You may need the Tile Blocker to keep sims from walking through parts of the display (i.e. the carousel). It is included with the meshes and in the collection file. Just be sure that you place it between/behind whatever shelving you add to the carousel – don’t accidently block those shelves.
Tumblr media
6) The Carousel Lite is OPTIONAL deco – place it on the same tile as the Carousel End/Center pieces. It is repo’d to the EverGlow Plutonium Rod (neon light) from the Nightlife EP. As you can see in the pics above, the default recolors emit colored light. Custom recolors will emit a soft glow, but no bold colored light.
Tumblr media
7) Area Signs 001-002 are optional deco as well – place and shift them as needed.

birthday haul 2!
this time, it’s monster fest clawdeen!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i have to say, i’ve been excited for this clawdeen since we saw the prototype leaks. she does not disappoint in person! she’s easily my favorite g3 clawdeen by a landslide, and it’s not even close (sorry monster ball… you’ve been demoted.)
she is also saran, and well.. she has monster high box curly saran. rip girl, i’ll try and deal with that later.
monster fest retails at 25 dollars, a while five dollars cheaper than the roughly equivalent deluxe dolls of monster ball. i don’t know how they did that, because in my opinion, monster fest blows monster ball out of the water in basically every way, but im not complaining if it’ll save me 20 dollars collecting this whole line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
face card. this clawdeen has the most gorgeous makeup of any clawdeen so far in my opinion. the gold freckles are everything…. i also love this lip color. it’s subdued, not too dark but not that horrid light pink that g3 is so fond of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the headpiece is actually 2 pieces! the flowers clip around the back, and securely fit around her ears without any plastic ties needed to sit well. the gold piece is actually an earring piece! i have no problem keeping this headpiece perfectly in place, which is very nice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the shoes! these are really fun, i love the lifted heels. and god damn, even just having one color painted really does a lot to keep the shoe from becoming a big solid expanse of one color. these would be a lot worse if they were just solid gold, i think.
Tumblr media
the fur cuff pieces of these are not attached to the shoes, they just go over them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
god, im really just extremely happy with the detail level and execution of these dolls. clawdeens screenprinted necklace stands out, even compared to her solid gold belt. and then, the constellation patterns on the sheer sleeves of her jacket…. a bit obsessed, i think
Tumblr media
accessories! this clawdeen comes with sunglasses (so unexpected) a camera, a ticket to monster fest, a bag, a nachos, a big fancy drink, and two mini ticket rolls. the little nachos are so funny, little moon shapes and kinda crazy colorful for how small they are. G3 has been going hard on the food accessories, though. i guess they’re pretty popular with kids
Tumblr media
a close up look at the bag. this bag is insane in a good way. it’s so silly.
Tumblr media
clawdeen with some of her accessories. the bag looks great with this outfit, and i do love the glasses. probably won’t be displaying her with the glasses, tho, since i do want to see her lovely face.
Tumblr media
obligatory .5 shot.
and that’s monster fest clawdeen! i look forward to picking up cleo and lagoona when they start seeing widespread release in stores… this line is just too good.

Greg Owen at LGBTQ Nation:
Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light. Target and “tuck-friendly” bathing suits. “Satanic Pride propaganda.” Those were just some of the flash points in last year’s Pride merch madness that tested consumer brands’ relationships with the LGBTQ+ community. After all the boycotts and right-wing outrage, where do companies stand when it comes to this year’s Pride merch offerings and allyship?
[...]
Data from corporate executives and Fortune 500 leaders gathered by Gravity Research and reported by PR Daily indicates that 78% of companies are not planning any change in their Pride strategy in 2024. Thirteen percent were unsure, while 9% said changes are in the works. When it comes to consumer goods, though, 30% said they’re reevaluating their approach to Pride.
One of those is Target, which bore the brunt of last year’s far-right rainbow backlash. While the retail giant says they’re “committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month and year-round,” they’re slashing Pride-themed merch from at least half of their nearly 2000 stores. They’ll continue to have a presence at Pride events around the U.S., the company told LGBTQ Nation. A collection of Pride products, including adult apparel, home products, food, and beverages, will be available in select stores and on Target’s website, they said, and “we will have internal programs to celebrate Pride 2024.” That retreat contrasts with other brands with a long history of LGBTQ+ community engagement. Hyatt describes their longstanding commitment to Pride and the LGBTQ+ community as “the right thing to do.”
Good news: most brands are thankfully not caving to the right-wing fake outrage mob in regards to LGBTQ+ Pride displays in stores during Pride season.

A Christmas Nightmare - Spencer Reid
Tumblr media
Sorry, I had forgotten about this one so it ended up going out on Christmas day instead of a few days earlier. But here's some comfort for you
Summary: Neurodivergent!Reader struggles with the Christmas crowds and calls a good friend in her panic.
Warnings: Slight panic attack/meltdown
Christmas was a time of joy and celebration, a time for friends and family to join together and celebrate what was originally, the birth of Jesus. Nowadays, it was more of a capitalistic holiday, of large spending for gifts and large amounts of food. For those non-religious folks, it was more about friends and family spending time together, celebrating connections. Some still go to church, gathering for the early service to listen to the words from the priest and the choir sing. But most chose the more capitalistic route.
Of course, with the capitalisation of the Christmas holiday came along a lot more than just gifts and decorations. Sinter Klaas already existed, but the birth of the idea of Saint Nicholas came along, and not long after formed into Santa Claus. And then along came songs and movies, TV shows, books, anything the entertainment and retail corporations could come up with. It got so popular that almost every house growing up was decked with decorations and lights that could cut through the snow. Every shopping centre had a ‘Photo with Santa’ opportunity, and every store donned decorations to celebrate the festivities. Music would play over the speakers, drowned out by the loud chatter of the crowds that were out to do their shopping.
Normally, you’d do your absolute best to avoid having to go into the crowded malls. Stocking up early and getting perishables from the corner store has been your go-to tactic since you went to college.
But a series of unlikely events required you to brave the crowds of the shopping mall for one Saturday afternoon. Albeit, you would have preferred during the weekdays, but the team had been on a case all week, only arriving back today. And your work Christmas party (courtesy of Garcia’s convincing) was meant to be tomorrow. It was a very last minute thing, as you were gathering in the conference room to brief the case, Garcia was convincing Rossi to host the work Christmas party - that was 4 days ago. Rossi, with a bit of pushing from Hotch had agreed, and the plan was set into motion.
Garcia was organising the decorations and catering, which included multiple trips to the bottle shop to make sure everyone had their preferred drinks. And a theme for the night had been decided ‘A Touch of Festivity’. What that meant, you had no idea, but you were sure you could pull something together from what you owned.
The hardest part though? Was buying gifts for everyone. When you agreed to attend the night, you were under the impression that it was going to be a secret santa. But much to Garcia’s arguments that nobody aside from JJ, herself and Hotch, had a lot to buy in terms of presents. Especially since everyone had already purchased presents for their families weeks ago and already sent them off.
That led you to where you are currently, standing in the middle of a very crowded shopping centre, being pushed and pulled by the crowd. It was all very overwhelming, many people were brushing past you, others pushing you without even noticing you were there. You looked like a ragdoll in the midst of the crowd.
The overstimulation set in very quickly, people’s arms brushing your body, the stifling air, the bright lights from all of the stores. Christmas music was playing loudly in the background, and you could hear the noises of the mechanical displays from a nearby shop. Chatter from the crowd was overbearing, and the occasional ‘ho ho ho’ from the Santa display further down the corridor rang in your ears. It was barely ten minutes in and you already felt like you were going to explode from all of the overload on your senses.
But, you had to at least attempt to get everyone’s gifts - for yourself. You knew that you could very easily go down to the bookstore and pick out a book for Reid. JJ and Garcia were easy with the candle store down the road. Morgan you could just buy a new cologne for, and try to convince him that women would like it better than his. Rossi was easy, he always wanted you to grab something from the deli that was on the corner of your block (he insisted they were the best). Hotch was a bit more difficult, but you knew that the candle store also sold various accessories, including ties. And Emily loved shoes, bags, belts, anything she could accessorise with - and you knew all of her sizes.
However, you made a promise to yourself to at least try going to the shopping mall. As one of your New Year's resolutions, you had to try something you found difficult or hard at least once a month. And you hadn’t done one for December yet. ‘You can overcome this, you’ve got this’ you kept trying to convince yourself.
But the more time that passed, the denser the crowd seemed to get, to the point that it was suffocating. Senses kicked into overdrive as you searched frantically for the exit, knowing you had mere minutes before the meltdown would begin. No relief came though, as the crowd was too tall for you, and too thick for you to see through clearly.
In a last minute effort, you pulled out your phone and scrolled through your contacts. Normally, you would hesitate to contact the person in mind, but today you needed to hear his voice. Pressing the call button, you held the phone to your ear, anxiously chewing on your nails whilst the call connected.
“Hello?” You let out a sigh of relief as his voice rang clear through the phone. “Hello? Is this Y/N?” His voice was thick, like he had just woken up to answer the call. Shuffling could be heard over the line, and a thump as he probably fell over a pile of books. “Y/N? Are you okay?” The words were stuck at the back of your throat, your voice destined to fail you when you really needed it.
“Help,” you managed to barely choke out. The crowd was impossibly close, and felt like they were closing in even more.
“Where are you?” His asked, his voice urgent as he tried to figure out your location.
“T-the mall, outside of the Bath and B-body Works.” You stumbled over your words, trying to focus on the sound of his voice instead of your overloaded senses.
“Okay, I know where you are. I’m on my way, but can you do something for me?” You nodded, not realising that he couldn’t see you. “I want you to go down towards the foodcourt, turn left when you see the Nordstrom okay? There’s an exit down that corridor, there’s no bus or taxi rank there, so it should be pretty quiet.” Turning in the direction that Spencer mentioned, you tried to memorise the instructions. “I’m going to hang up so I can drive. Just get to that exit and wait for me.” A harsh tone beeped, signalling the end of the call.
Pocketing your phone, you focused on trying to spot a sign for Nordstrom, which was difficult through the density of the crowd. After a minute of searching though, you finally found a sign, more of a map-directory kind of sign pointing towards Nordstrom. To your left, was a corridor with bathrooms and an exit at the end. Surely this is what Spencer meant, he hadn’t been entirely clear about the instructions and you were in too much of a panic to keep searching for a different sign.
Walking down the corridor, you noticed the sweat that seemed to break out on your brow, a tell-tale sign that you were nearing a meltdown. Someone exited the bathroom, the bang of the door closing making you panic more. They almost touched you as they hurried past, back towards the mall, and would have if you hadn’t pressed yourself against the wall. The corridor was quite narrow, and seemed to only narrow further down towards the door. Though you couldn’t tell if that was because of your panic or if it actually did narrow. But it was quieter, the lack of speakers bringing some slight relief to your senses.
Outside was a small loading area, not big enough for actual trucks to fit into, but its proximity to the parking lot suggested it was more for cars than actual delivery trucks. Small and quieter than the bustle near the entrance, it was almost perfect. Almost being the key word in that sentence, if it hadn't been for the screaming children and annoyed mother right next to the door.
You tried to keep calm, picking a spot on a bench that was several feet away, but you could still hear everything, the cars, the kids, the exasperated annoyance from the mother. Tapping your feet in a certain rhythm usually helped to distract you, but today it wasn’t enough, so you tried repeating it with your fingers, counting the beats, anything. It was all in vain though, as nothing drowned out the noise.
A sports car pulled up, the revving sending you more into overload as a young woman proudly got out. You started to hit your thighs, trying to ignore the kid asking his mom what was wrong with you. Before you retorted something that surely would have made him cry, his mother had whisked him further away. Silently, you thank her for her awareness - though it was probably more out of fear as you definitely weren’t acting like a ‘normal’ person.
That was a problem for another day, today you were too overwhelmed to approach someone about the stigma surrounding autism and the spectrum in society. But her moving further away also meant the screaming was quieter, more bearable. You just didn’t want to think of what she had texted the person picking her up about you and why she changed location.
Thankfully, you didn’t have long to think about that because moments later a familiar car pulled down the driveway. It slowed to a stop right in front of you before a familiar man stepped out of the driver side door, almost doubling in length.
“Y/N,” he breathed out, kneeling in front of you. “Are you okay?” You nodded shortly, avoiding eye contact whilst trying to calm your senses. “Try that trick I taught you, focus on different things, okay?” He had noticed that you were still in a state of panic, and your impending meltdown. And he wanted to try to prevent it, reminding you of the focusing tactic he had taught you. Glancing at him, you nodded, still avoiding eye contact as you took in notes of his appearance.
The clothes he wore were the same as yesterday’s, probably having fallen asleep in them sometime early in the morning. But he had loosened his tie, to the point it could fall off if you tugged it slightly. As usual though, his socks were unmatched and showed off his slightly dirty converse that he always wore. A wind rushed through, and you picked up on the familiar scent, a mixture of books and vanilla . His hair looked clean and fluffy, like it’d be nice to run your hands through. The two of you sat in silence for a moment as you hesitated about bringing your hands up to touch his hair.
“Can I hug you?” He questioned once you had visibly calmed down a bit. You were no longer hitting your thigh, and the foot tapping had slowed to almost a complete stop. A hug right now would feel nice, comforting and encasing.
“Okay,” you whispered gently. He was careful about his approach, allowing you to stand up before wrapping his arms around you, in a safe and secure embrace. It felt comfortable, but still empty. “Tighter,” you whimpered, relishing in the comfort that comes from his arms wrapping tighter around your body.
“I’ve got you, it’s okay.”
—--
Hours later, you were curled up on his rather comfortable couch, your legs covered by a weighted blanket. Old Doctor Who reruns were playing on the TV, but you didn’t have the energy to pay attention to it. At first you had just wanted to sleep the exhaustion away, but Spencer convinced you to go back to his place with him. You questioned it, of course, and he had convinced you by saying that he’d order your favourite comfort food, and make some calming tea that Garcia had gifted him. And the idea of spending more time with someone who was your comfort place didn’t sound like such a bad idea.
“Here, I didn’t know how much you wanted so I just put a bit of each onto your plate.” Spencer explained, handing you the plate of Indian food from your favourite place. “And I’ll put your tea here,” he said, placing it down on the coffee table in front of you.
“Thank you.” Your voice came out as a whisper, afraid it’d break if you talked any louder.
“It was the crowds wasn’t it?” You glanced at him, confused. “I noticed that when Garcia mentioned a Christmas party, and gift-giving, that you panicked. I assumed that it was because you hadn’t planned for any of that, or had already made plans. But when you called me earlier today I realised it’s probably because of how busy the malls are this time of year. I remembered that you really don’t like crowds, and formed the hypothesis that you avoid malls this time of year because of the crowds.” Your stomach filled with butterflies as he recalled various things about your behaviour, things that you hadn’t even picked up on.
He kept rambling on, mentioning other things about your behaviour and his hypothesis. But you had already zoned out, thinking more about how captivating he could be when he talked. Ironic, right? Since you had zoned out.
“So?” He questioned.
“So?”
“My hypothesis. Is it correct?” He looked at you longingly, awaiting your answer to his rambling.
“Yeah, yeah I guess so.” You giggled lightly, he could be such a genius and still so oblivious sometimes. Though, as the team would argue, so could you. And in a blissful ignorance you both sat for the rest of the night, unaware of the other’s feelings.

-->It was finally back to the store! Where once again they all had to wait outside while I fiddled with the layout. XD At least this time it wasn't thunderstorming! Let me take you through all the changes I made --
A. As you can see, the major change I made was to replace all of the double-sided shelves with single-sided ones on either side of a large half-wall (with a glass half-wall trim on top to stop Sims trying to put plates or other objects up there) -- I was having some trouble getting everything to face the right way on the double-sided shelves, and I genuinely do believe this looks better. More like what you might actually SEE in a grocery store.
B. I also reduced the number of shelves overall slightly by rearranging the first "produce" aisle -- now when you walk in, you have Brazen Lotus's produce stands on one side, and the more traditional Get To Work refrigerated displays on the other holding various oversized crops on the other! Fewer slots to fill, and it means all the fruit and veg aren't bunched up together right next to the door.
C. I also added another refrigerated display next to the meat section -- this one is for fish, with Brazen Lotus's "Iced Fish Retail Fridge" (which requires her mod to allow fish and herbs to be placed in a retail fridge) in the bottom section! (I tried putting it on a counter, but it looked kinda weird and wouldn't slot correctly -- and then I discovered it fit near-perfectly into the bottom of the regular refrigerated display and went with that! It doesn't fit so nicely into the top bit, so fresh fish will be placed there to be bought directly.)
D. Along with that, I added the fossil displays from @somecreativecc as "endcaps" for the aisles, as the perfume bottles Victor can make from Simsonian Library's "Perfumery" mod fit on them, and they were the best-looking shelves I had for the purpose. *shrug* If anyone can suggest anything better, please let me know!
E. I also started trying out some "color-coding" on the SrslySims consignment shelves to try and see at a glance what should go where -- like, the shelf with Smiler's synthetic food tablets and herbalism potions from Simsonian Library's "Apothecary" mod is white because that's the "pharmacy" section, and the shelf with the canned green beans and green peas is bright green to represent "veggies."
F. Oh, and you may notice that I've started spacing out the various items on each individual shelf a lot more, so I'm not trying to cram multiple products onto one single shelf in any particular display and wondering how I'm going to fill the others. . .now, one display can hold a shelf of canned green beans, a shelf of canned green peas, and the boxed versions of said products on the bottom. Makes my life easier and makes filling up this grocery store a hell of a lot faster!
-->Okay -- once THAT was all done, it was time for the gang to spread out and get to work! And everybody had their specific jobs:
Smiler: Since we now had a fish fridge, I sent Smiler down to the fishing spot behind the store to angle for some big catches to fill it up! They managed to land a pufferfish and a tilapia to display above the fridge, and a betta to put in it -- it's a start!
Alice: Her thing today was bulk food processing and canning -- specifically, I had her make some more canned green beans and green peas to fill in a couple of gaps on the shelves, then move onto making jars of meat substitute for the discerning vegetarians who may come by. Gotta have something for everyone, after all! :)
Victor: Victor started out making perfumes, in "Focused" (bluebell) and "Playful" (daisy) scents, which (along with another bottle of the deodorizing scent) got him to level 2 of the Perfumery skill and allowed him to make "Happy" and "Energizing" scents if he so wished. However, his REAL job was to head upstairs and start Copypastoing everything that could be Copypastoed. XD Because while I DO actually want them to make some of the stuff they sell themselves, I am not above using Victor's magic to make the process easier on them and me. Victor's such a skilled spellcaster now that he's basically in no danger of the spell failing, even when he gets to a pretty heavily charged state -- and hey, I found out during this Copypasto spree that he can in fact copy the plates of raw meat Alice brings back from her hunts! So THAT is going to be freaking handy! :D

The Dynamic Duo: Cardboard Paper and Shrinkable Film for Packaging Solutions
Tumblr media
In the ever-evolving world of packaging, businesses constantly seek innovative materials that enhance product protection, sustainability, and consumer appeal. Two standout materials that have gained significant traction in recent years are cardboard paper and shrinkable film. At San-East, we understand the importance of these materials in creating effective packaging solutions that meet the needs of various industries.
Understanding Cardboard Paper
Cardboard paper is a versatile material that comes in various grades and thicknesses, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Known for its lightweight yet durable properties, cardboard is an eco-friendly option that can be recycled and repurposed, aligning with global sustainability efforts. Its ability to be printed on easily makes it a popular choice for branding, allowing businesses to showcase their logos and product information directly on the packaging.
The use of cardboard paper extends beyond just aesthetics. It provides essential protection for products during shipping and handling, reducing the risk of damage. For businesses, this translates to cost savings, as fewer items are returned due to damage. Additionally, the customization possibilities with cardboard allow companies to create unique packaging designs that stand out on store shelves, catching the eye of consumers.
The Role of Shrinkable Film
Complementing the protective qualities of cardboard paper is shrinkable film, a type of polymer film that shrinks tightly around the product when heat is applied. This unique characteristic makes shrinkable film ideal for securing products, providing an airtight seal that keeps items safe from external contaminants. The film is commonly used in conjunction with cardboard packaging, enhancing the overall integrity of the product.
Shrinkable film is not just about protection; it also enhances the visual appeal of packaged goods. The clarity of the film allows consumers to see the product clearly, which is crucial in industries like food and beverage, where freshness and quality are paramount. Moreover, the glossy finish of shrinkable film can elevate the perceived value of the product, encouraging purchases.
The Synergy of Cardboard Paper and Shrinkable Film
When used together, cardboard paper and shrinkable film create a packaging solution that offers unmatched durability and aesthetics. Cardboard provides the structural integrity necessary to withstand the rigors of shipping, while shrinkable film offers an additional layer of protection against moisture, dust, and other environmental factors.
One of the most significant advantages of this combination is its ability to reduce waste. Cardboard paper is biodegradable, and when paired with shrinkable film, businesses can create lightweight packaging that minimizes material usage. This approach not only contributes to a reduced carbon footprint but also meets the growing consumer demand for sustainable packaging options.
Applications Across Industries
The versatility of cardboard paper and shrinkable film makes them suitable for a variety of industries. In the food sector, for example, products like pre-packaged meals or snacks benefit immensely from this duo. The cardboard box provides structure and branding opportunities, while the shrinkable film seals in freshness, ensuring the product remains safe for consumption.
In the retail world, businesses can use cardboard paper for boxes or displays, and shrinkable film for multipacks. This approach not only enhances shelf presence but also encourages bulk purchases, as consumers are drawn to attractive, well-packaged products.
The cosmetics and personal care industry also reaps the rewards of using cardboard paper and shrinkable film. Products like perfumes, lotions, and gift sets often employ this packaging combination to convey luxury and quality. The combination of a beautifully printed cardboard box with a sleek, shrink-wrapped finish can significantly elevate the consumer experience.
Sustainability Matters
At San-East, we prioritize sustainable practices in all our packaging solutions. The synergy between cardboard paper and shrinkable film aligns with our commitment to reducing environmental impact. Cardboard is inherently more eco-friendly than plastic, and when businesses choose recyclable shrinkable film, they further enhance their sustainability credentials.

The Versatility of Laminate Tubes with Octagonal Caps: A Game-Changer in Packaging
In today’s fast-paced world, where convenience, sustainability, and functionality are key factors in packaging, laminate tubes have emerged as a popular choice for various industries. Among the different types of laminate tubes, those with octagonal caps stand out for their unique design, practical benefits, and aesthetic appeal. If you're looking for an innovative packaging solution that offers both style and substance, laminate tubes with octagonal caps might just be the answer. Let’s dive into why these tubes are a game-changer in the packaging industry.
What Are Laminate Tubes?
Laminate tubes are made from layers of materials, typically a combination of plastic and aluminum, that are laminated together. This multi-layered structure provides a barrier against moisture, air, and light, making laminate tubes an excellent choice for products that need protection from environmental factors. Commonly used in the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food industries, laminate tubes offer flexibility, durability, and the ability to retain the freshness and quality of the product inside.
The Importance of Cap Design
The cap of a tube may seem like a small detail, but it plays a crucial role in the overall functionality and user experience of the product. A well-designed cap ensures that the tube is easy to open and close, provides an airtight seal to prevent contamination, and enhances the product’s visual appeal. This is where the octagonal cap comes into play.
Why Octagonal Caps?
Octagonal caps are not just a design choice; they offer several practical benefits that set them apart from traditional round caps.
Enhanced Grip: The eight sides of the octagonal cap provide a better grip, making it easier to open and close the tube. This is particularly beneficial for products that are used frequently or by individuals with limited hand strength, such as the elderly or those with arthritis.
Distinctive Appearance: In a market flooded with products, standing out on the shelf is crucial. The unique shape of the octagonal cap gives the packaging a distinctive look, helping it catch the eye of consumers. This can be especially advantageous in competitive industries like cosmetics, where packaging plays a significant role in influencing purchasing decisions.
Improved Stability: The flat sides of the octagonal cap prevent the tube from rolling off surfaces, providing added stability. This is particularly useful in settings like bathroom countertops or medical kits, where the tube needs to stay in place.
Efficient Storage: The flat sides of the octagonal cap allow for more efficient storage, as the tubes can be placed closer together without rolling. This can save space in both retail displays and consumers’ storage areas.
Applications of Laminate Tubes with Octagonal Caps
Laminate tubes with octagonal caps are versatile and can be used for a wide range of products. Here are a few examples:
Cosmetics: From hand creams to facial cleansers, laminate tubes with octagonal caps offer a stylish and functional packaging solution for beauty products. The caps not only add a touch of elegance but also ensure that the product remains fresh and uncontaminated.
Pharmaceuticals: For ointments, gels, and creams, the barrier properties of laminate tubes protect the active ingredients from degradation, while the octagonal cap ensures easy access and secure closure.
Food Products: Condiments, sauces, and pastes packaged in laminate tubes benefit from the product protection and convenience offered by the octagonal cap, which also enhances the product’s shelf appeal.
Sustainability and Environmental Impact
As sustainability becomes a growing concern, the packaging industry is under pressure to reduce its environmental footprint. Laminate tubes with octagonal caps are a step in the right direction. Many laminate tubes are now made with eco-friendly materials and are designed to be recyclable. The use of lightweight materials in laminate tubes also reduces transportation costs and carbon emissions.
Conclusion
Laminate tubes with octagonal caps represent a perfect blend of form and function. They provide an innovative solution that meets the demands of modern consumers for convenience, durability, and aesthetics. Whether you're in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or food industry, this packaging option offers significant advantages that can enhance your product’s appeal and performance. As the packaging landscape continues to evolve, embracing such innovative solutions will be key to staying ahead of the competition and meeting consumer expectations
