“I thought violence would be the answer.” (from Reynardine the fox to Dark Choco!)
HEARTBREAKING S/TEVEN U/NIVERSE SENTENCE STARTERS
~
Dark Choco, who’d been staring into his half empty wooden mug, lifted his head at the sound of another voice. He’d been so deep in contemplation that he’d completely missed the rustling of the bushes, which he internally chided himself for. For all the things being free made easier, it was the opposite for others. With his head so clear so suddenly, he was much more capable of slipping into his thoughts and sifting through them than before; such a habit that would surely land him in hot water if he didn’t fix it.
But that was then, and this was now.
Expecting to meet the eyes of a stranger, that was exactly what Dark Choco would get as he peered out from under his cloak and towards the other end of the log bench.
It was a little strange to sit down and admit to something so personal, but the former prince supposed he’d been no better. He shifted in place. His leg, bandaged after a short fall he’d taken earlier, smarted.
"I thought that way myself, once...” Dark Choco admitted in return, “For so much of my life, I only sought more and more power. It was the power to help people, at first, but in the end all I was was... violence. I was cursed both literally and figuratively to be the perpetuation of a cycle rather than a solution.”
He sighed. The sound was equal parts satisfied and still troubled.
“It’s only after years that I broke free, and only recently. No matter how similar your own predicament is, when or if you get the opportunity to move on seems to never be certain...”
