Theres a lot more text this time so to the read more it goes
Scarlett is a hard working and strict deer with light magical ability due to some distant unicorn heritage (she can lift light or slightly heavy objects and can put out a blinding burst of energy), she never brandishes her antlers towards anyone aside from the occasional monster or bandit and fiercely protects her town no matter what. Of course now not only does she has to be all buddy buddy with the newest trouble makers residents, two earthponies who curiously lack cutiemarks, but she has to work with them too, that definitely wont give her a headache
Ludmila is a changeling in disguise as a unicorn and had been on the lamb for some time now, not many creatures are partial to changelings so she prefers to stay hidden finding “companionship” (or as close as she can get) with other creatures who are outcast from society (aka bandits). one day after their base was raided, and her unicorn illusion no longer on because of her hunger, she met a cutiemarkless earth pony named alice who didn’t have a damn clue as to what a changeling was but was more than happy to accommodate her, going as far as to letting her feed on some of the monsters love in the base… well thats new
Anyways now she lives in rigbarth and was even able to metamorphisize now that shes got a steady flow of love to feed on (both from the shared love of the citizens and the occasional feedings she gets from alice)

Ludmila Cosplay Part 2 - Under Structure
Still working away at Ludmila. Unfortunately i don't have any finished outside costume pieces to show off, but for Ludmila, underpinings are super important. Her skirt is... weird, to say the least. It billows out fairly wide at the sides (and needs to support added weight with those panels) but it really doesn't come out far on the back end at all if we reference her in-game model. This is a structural nightmare for me as I have never made a hoop skirt.
What I ended up doing is making panniers/side hoops (in the lining color) to start out with. I patterned this myself, although there is actually a Simplicity pattern (one of the American Duchess ones) that you can purchase. The reason there is a separate top panel is because I did not make my intial top panel of the pannier long enough so it did not sit correctly. The panniers were not super challenging to construct; I used bias tape for the channels, and the body of the hoops were made out of broadcloth. The worst part of this was cutting the hoop steel - I sourced mine from Farthingale's, and I needed bolt cutters to cut it. It was still difficult even with those. However, they create a nice shape and they're sturdy af.
So, new problem - the sides are big but the butt is way too flat. Enter bustle pillow.
I followed the tutorial and pattern available on YouTube from Kirilee cosplay. The worst part of that was hemming all of those damn ruffles (but I've got more of that in my future).
The final step - a partial petticoat made from tulle for smoothing between the butt pillow and side hoops but not adding a lot of additional bulk. Making this was very easy- i literally kept the tulle folded where it was from when I'd bought it, basted along the top with my machine, and hand-gathered to be the size I needed. Then I attached that with a straight stitch to some twill tape to tie around my waist. I color matched because I want to make this not super visible from the front of the cosplay; if it is, I may trim the back near the bustle accordingly to hide it as much as possible within the skirt.
What I ended up with is a skirt that comes out fairly wide at the sides but not super large at the rear. I'm pretty happy with this shape, so I've started creating my mockup by combining making panels that I think are generally the right size and then draping on my dress form, which I will then finalize to get my skirt pattern from. The skirt will be made from a grey striped cotton and a berry pink lining, so it will be just a bit heavier than my broadcloth because the cotton feels quite robust.
Hopefully soon I will have a proper skirt to show off!
