my favorite rgg bit is how they include etsuko in every release and she's usually ridiculously overpowered. she's a crew member in pirates and she wields two magic wands & kicks ass

i love daigo. he's stupid, useless and ugly. he talks like he's always either constipated or after a long night date with the porcelain friend after food poisoning he got in a filthy dodgy ramen shop. he wears eyeliner at 50. he's never had friends his age and only hangs out with 10+ years his seniors, which is why he always comes off as a snotty sad kid nobody respects. his mom called him a failure in front of his work buddies. he was the latent reason japanese patrick bateman bulldozed down an orphanage once. his hair is always greasy despite daily bathing. very fun guy

ok rgg8 was fairly enjoyable i guess... not in the way the actually good installations were but not as bad as i expected either. the excuse of a story that holds together by cheap glue and a prayer is definitely even worse than the rest of them (considering that they're all already awful) and the side stories were all disgusting. to be fair the latter has been true for 6 too so WHATEVER. the side content was fine though a bit unpolished... i liked the island. i still prefer normal combat but turn based is ok if you get used to it, i guess to me the most fun was going through the dungeons while underleveled and getting my ass beat by randos. like this is great for unwinding from the stress of daily life (by raising your blood pressure from video game fights), it was good for me. i liked chitose and seonhee, hated everyone else on the cast. kiryu's part starting in chapter 8 which is past the halfway line was a joke. overall i wouldn't say it's a complete waste of money and i don't regret this purchase but i will not be playing either 7 or any future releases with ichiban as a main character

i feel like kiryu shouldn't be breaking katanas with his bare hands and taking his shirt off to fight off scoundrels and villains... girl don't you have a chemotherapy appointment to attend

why is ichiban so slow to level up? it took me one or two runs of the yokohama underground to get kiryu to level 60, with his awakening not completed at all. while ichiban has been the main playable since the beginning, i maxed his stats out ages ago, went through the dungeons like 5 times, and he got to 60 extremely reluctantly (i'm on ch 13). and despite that he's at 1200 health only. his exp from big battles doesn't leave a dent, and his unique job besides his main one (sujimancer) has no weapon. he's such an unpleasant character both in the story/personality aspect and as a playable main
