     He was rigid. Like a piece of metal holding the weight of an entire building. Hands were clenched at his sides, shackled to prevent him doing any damage to either of them; the threat of them cutting his hands off should he try to shift the only thing keeping him from utterly losing control. He’d long ago learned that no one here would help him. He was trapped. A mouse in a scientist’s cage. No one knew where he was. No one was going to come in and save him. Besides, what stories had tales of anyone saving the dragon? 

     Ice blue eyes were ablaze as he stared Fera down. In a fair fight he eat her. Perhaps that was the reason he was never allowed to have a level playing field. His lips were curled back in a feral snarl as his chest burned from the injury having been inflicted on him. Nearly black blood stained his bare chest as it rose and fell with staggered breaths. Just because they wouldn’t kill him didn’t mean that they’d wouldn’t take him close.

    The faintest tinge of smoke could be seen trailing from his nostrils and between his clenched teeth. An inhuman growl rattling in his chest as every breath was agony. 

                            “Get the fuck out if you’re not going to kill me.”

She’d hit the floor when Xiao had come through the window.Her breathing was labored and her hands covered her faceand mouth as she tried to steady herself. Echo had been absorbed in her work and missed the fact that Xiao had decided that it would be wise to come through the window.

     Gasping her eyes finally opened and she stared upward at the dragon king. 

                         “You’re going to make me lose the baby at this rate.”

HE IS most definitely more exhausted than usual. HAND running down the back of his neck as he crouches, OUT AND AWAY from where other people might be. Solitude was the best medicine for him, or so he’d gathered but it never made dealing with the circumstances of having to outrun his own TIRED THOUGHTS easier. 

It takes him a moment to draw in a quiet breath and refocus on the paper before him, THE SCRIBBLED writing barely legible but after a moment he finds peace in managing to get a BASIC direction before grunting and plopping into a seated position against the wall, FINALLY relaxed before uttering a quiet phrase.

“Thank fuck...”

       That wast a statement from Abigail that Emery wasn’t ever expecting to hear. Something they didn’t discuss was the past. It left them both more bitter than they ever wanted to be. Not that Emery wasn’t ever not bitter. It was just a different sort. Their mutually compatible tragedies and desire to never discuss it made them the perfect business partners. Hazel eyes flickered upward for a moment as she couldn’t decide if Abby really wanted to delve into the past or she was just making a passing comment.

when the end of the world came about, renora was only able to watch as the world burned. albeit she was confused about who, or what, brought on the destruction, the hellhound was mildly amused by it. here she’d always imagined it would be her who would be the one to snap. maybe another time. so she made a trip to hel, taking with her those souls she could ferry, & asked what had happened. hel informed her of abby, & from there renora went on a search for the harbinger of end times.

now that they’ve met, ren is surprised -- quite frankly because abby isn’t at all who she had expected. but ren knows better than to underestimate someone based on looks. so far, renora only holds a mild respect for the woman ; & an even greater mind to steer clear of her for now. she’d rather not have to fight her.

let’s be real -- abby’s accent immediately caught ren’s attention & she loves to hear the witch talk. ( partly because it sound soothing. partly because ren is attracted to her for it )

they don’t interact too much, however, at least for now. ren is busy reconstructing some semblance of a life for herself among the rubble. it’s a good thing she’d always been handy. when they do cross paths, they don’t often get along but perhaps over time abby will see ren’s side of things -- it’s better to work together than be enemies. imagine the world they could rule.

🖊 + Xiao

   Xiaolong is the crown prince of the country of Pavisia, and confirmed to be of draconic lineage. dragons are akin to demigods in Riorrim, each one gifted with incredible power and able to harness many different abilities. there are thought to be fewer than thirty Hessians left that legitimately carry dragon blood, and even fewer that can harness its potential. Xiaolong, however, carries in him two prophesied draconic deities; though many great powers have surfaced in the man, Xiao is only a chrysalis — a cocoon for whichever dragon is strong enough to emerge. dragons are not malevolent creatures by nature, they simply do not follow the typical human set of morals. good and evil are foreign concepts to them, they simply follow their own code and generally do as they please. this is one of the reasons that the prophesied dragons’ myth is so muddled in history, leading those to think one dragon will be a benevolent god and the other a destroyer of worlds. only time will tell what will become of the first draconic god born in over ninety-eight million years, for only one gets to live.

   Xiaolong has taken part in the Wars since he was able to hold a weapon, making him a master of many talents in his almost three hundred years of life. killing is not against any laws in almost all of Riorrim, so war holds much less meaning to him and many others. it is simply something he was thrust into and ended up being good at, and why change that? Xiao is the son of the esteemed empress Zhanna, whose family is of strong draconic descent, and the high king Li’jun, one of the last pure dragon-blooded Hessians. his father began the wars before Xiao was even born, carrying out atrocities against those who were deemed too dangerous to the throne. Li’jun has committed mass genocide against the Vulki species, who had discovered a way to hide themselves from the throne and resist the dragon’s ability of mind control. fewer than a hundred Vulki remain to this day. because of this hatred, Xiao, himself, carries disdain for the species --- though he seems to carry a lot of disdain for most non-dragons in general. he does, however, carry the utmost respect (and perhaps even fear) for one of the Olde Gods (Death), as well as the Keepers, without whom the land (and his family) would never have prospered. Xiao works quite closely with the Keepers due to his intense interest not only in their impressive abilities (world-jumping, language deciphering), but because he is absolutely enthralled with the Keeper known as Haru. the two are affianced, and there is precious little Xiao would not do for his beloved.
