101- Another twist
So I did listen to all the extra stuff and I really enjoyed it! But since none of it was really directly Magnus Archives related (except maybe the assistant interview which was also lovely but I don't have much to say about) I decided not to try and write out a reaction to any of it. The fan stories we're super cool and I loved both of them a lot.
Ok maybe I have one thing to say about the assistant interview and that is that Tim breaks my heart even more now and I demand a blooper episode soon.
Anyway, on to the episode. Micheal related perhaps?
Nikola!!
Hsbdksjjon! Jon!
Jsjdjd what's happening? So so Jon has been kidnapped and Nikola found his tape recorder?
Oh? Does she think Elias will listen to this? -or that he IS listening to it? Maybe cause the tapes seem connected to beholding and Elias is apparently somewhat all-knowing and is maybe connected to the tapes? Is Jon connected to the tapes in the same way? He didn't seem to know about Tim and Martins's conversation on the tapes, at least not as they were being made, but Elias is a lot closer to Beholding I guess?
Oh, they still have the coffin? Why do they have it here?
So... Are Breekon and Hope somehow tied to the coffin?
Nikola: "Sarah wanted to use nails"
Jon in the background: mMMM!!?
Same Jon. Please do not NAIL Jon to the chair. Tho... The symbolism? ...
Ok, so Jon is gagged cause he wouldn't stop asking questions. I mean that seems like the sensible response to too many questions, more sensible than setting him on fire or launching him into the vast anyway.
Also, Nikola talking to Elias like he's Jon's parent or something... There's some weird thing going on with Elias in regard to Jon. I suppose probably cause he's the head of the institute and seen as being like in charge of the archivist? I wonder if the previous heads we're involved like Elias is... Does Elias count as an avatar?
I can tell that Jon just tried to say "fuck you" through the gag. Great. Excellent.
"You're quite powerful yourself" mmm I don't like how she says this in comparison to the skin...
Is... Is she planning on skinning him..........
Was... Was Jon just trying to call for Elias? ;-;
XD Nikola is unhappy with Jon's skincare.
Ok but yea she is going to skin him..... Don't like that.
Jon is so frustrated with the gag. Especially when she asks him stuff and he can't answer.
Time skip? Jon sounds a lot more tired now.
Hdjdks Michael!!
Dhksdjnomicbeal!!! No!! Don't kill him!
Jon's just resigned sigh that yet another person is threatening to kill him.
Oh no, Jon sounds like he's about to cry.
Oooo Michael backstory!!
"Micheal Shelley"
Gertrude betrayed Michael? ):<
He trusted her.
He trusted her.
He trusted her.
"Am I evil? Is a thing evil when it simply obeys its own nature?" That is the question.
Oh, Jon. No.
"Ok" No no no! Jon no! He's just gonna open it no!
What's happening? Micheal? gdhshdbdvdbshsjshsjbsmicheoalsbdidgdjbddnhdhdbdnononsosbrhdjdnzkbksjdkdksksjon? Jshs what?
Micheal just became Helen?
Rip Michael??
Oh ya, how long has Jon been here?
I knew there was a reason I never liked Gertrude. So I guess "Michael" has(had?) a grudge against the archivist cause of that but Gertrude was too hard to kill. I wonder if the archivist position has a sort of collective consciousness like the distortion seems to? Although I guess having such a confusing state of being fits the personification of delusions and insanity better than something about knowing things, but I wonder if there's some shared knowledge for the archivist or something? Are all avatars kinda like that? Like there are rolls that get passed down and to some extent other avatars don't really care who is actually filling the position so much? I'm curious to see what stays the same about the distortion with Hellen and what changes. Obviously, Distortion doesn't have a grudge against the Archivist anymore and Helen seems to like Jon, maybe she knows he tried to save her?
And the Distortion itself was around for forever? Was there a time when it wasn't a person at all? It seems like its role would be hard to carry out without the human element. Was it someone else before Michael? Also, distortion mentioned that Michael's friend was taken by "something like me" so not them, but it seems like they were taken by something from the spiral, so are there other spiral avatars? Are they all like Michael?
So it seems like the distortion is the overall consciousness but the people who find it's door (whatever that means) form the personality? Do the personalities carry over any?
I also find it interesting that Michael said that Jon is a better Archivist than Gertrude. Perhaps he's figuring stuff out faster than she did initially? Or is he doing crazier stuff trying to gain knowledge? (Seems unlikely)
Boy do I love weird mind stuff like this, it's so fun to play with.
Oh!! I've just had a thought, maybe the-man-who-wasn't-there was a previous incarnation of the distortion which was why it seemed so different than Michael but Jon still recognized it as being Michael. Maybe? Idk is that episode ever explained cause it really fascinates me but I'm still so confused about it. (Note: someone has to some degree explained the episode to me since I originally wrote this.)
Ya know? Until now I'd been trying to decide whether I was more eye, lonely, or web aligned, but I've just realized. Spiral is the thing that kinda combines all three of those. Web with the focus on lies, lonely cause isolation, and it seems pretty easy to go crazy trying to serve the eye... *glances at Jon*. And I think I'd be more the-man-who-wasn't-there vibes than Michael's bright crazy unreality stuff.
I want to hear more from pre-distortion Michael tho. Gosh f*ck, he trusted her...
Even half out of his mind he trusted her.
I'm literally actually tearing up over Michael Shelley. F*ck Gertrude! Probably shouldn't trust the distortion but f*ck Gertrude!
Guys,,, this still isn't even the finale ;-; Jon i fear for you.
