Riss (pt 1) (Broken Chains AU)

Based loosely on OoT Dark Link

Created by Ganon/Demise-through-Ganon as a disposable pawn to stop the Hero, is fully aware his only purpose was to kill then be killed

Survived the battle at the Water Temple, albeit barely, and fled

Has spent the last few centuries forging his own identity

He/him pronouns but identifies as nonbinary

Power hungry to the point of foolishness

Has made it his goal to kill the Hero, hasn’t succeeded at all yet

Is a sadistic little fuck and has killed innocents for fun

Shifts to mirror each Hero in both appearance and age, has never matured past a teen

Is functionally immortal but can be killed; greatest fear is death

Is currently a “mirror” of Shaien

In the current BOTW era is loosely affiliated with the Yiga; they treat him as a demigod and he craves the validation so he sticks around despite hating them

Monsters are loosely allied with him, he can order them around as long as there’s no contradictory order from a more powerful entity; they do not attack him

Has traded immortality for sanity; is very unhinged but oddly good at hiding it

Vain about his appearance, cares about his looks

Is seen as a monster by most people and uses that to justify his behavior

Mostly nocturnal and completely homeless, gets chased out of most towns

Very quick tempered, quick to fight

Loud, brash, and very, very self centered, only cares about himself

If/when he is killed he does NOT get a reincarnation, it’s a full Game Over for him

Sarcastic, but uses his words to hurt rather than make jokes

Secretly scared, mostly of death, and very anxious (not that he lets it show)

His pride and bravado are mostly a front to hide fear and self loathing

Wishes (secretly) that he was some sort of “normal” creature, ideally a true Hylian

Does not currently recognize 9 year old Aydri as the Hero of Time he fought way back when but still wants to kill every incarnation of the Hero nonetheless

Has a magical “energy” that tends to elicit a fight or flight response in most people, you’ll know he’s around before you see him

Is essentially everything Shaien COULD be but chooses not to be, is both the opposite of them and very similar

In the Power Is What Matters AU he has the triforce of Power as Ganon sacrificed his claim on it when he turned into the thing he is now

"Here's the thing……" Riss's voice was almost a purr, but anger simmered underneath. "I'm YOU. I'm all that you could be. Refuse to be. Because you're afraid. Afraid of what would happen." He flourished his sword and paced in a tight circle. Shaien watched, on their guard. 

"You've got these stupid little ideas holding you back from your true potential." Riss continued, haughtiness creeping into his voice. "Morals. Responsibility. Heroics. Why not throw it all away? Why do you even bother keeping a reputation? It's all pointless." He moved quickly, too quickly, his sword now at Shaien's throat. 

"You know, for years they called me a monster just for my looks. They were scared for no fucking reason. No reason at all. And now? Well, let's say now they aren't scared enough." He paused, looking at Shaien with glowing red eyes. "The question is, hero, are you?"
