People keep tagging my redesigns for Broken Chains as LU even when I state I'll be using the designs for my own au and I dunno it kinda rubs me the wrong way. Makes me feel like my stuff isn't good enough standalone. I know that's not the intention but......still

I also don't want to police tag usage but plz not every redesign/AU is LU and nothing i do is working

boy can see ghosts INCLUDING a partial ghost of Shaien where they died near Fort Hateno. I think that’s pretty neat.

He knows what’s up with Shaien before Shaien tells anyone (their death is a sore spot and therefore a semi-secret)

Shaien (Broken Chains AU)

I said I’d post AU stuff so here

Based on BOTW Link, early/mid game

Age 115 (read 15)

Has chronic pain and a heart condition (made much worse by the Shrine of Resurrection) that prevents them from sprinting/swimming/climbing for long periods of time at once

They/Them pronouns! They’re pretty closeted at first tho and frequently have anxiety about if it’s being “ok” for the Hero to be nonbinary

Very reckless, it’s rare for them NOT to be injured

Anxiety, depression and PTSD rule their life to a greater extent than they let on

Autistic but very good at masking to unhealthy levels; special interests include cooking, archery, and physics puzzles

Very closed off emotionally; prone to shutting down

Very independent to the point where they refuse help most times

Selectively mute, rarely verbal, signs to communicate

When comfortable around people they make a lot of puns and have rather dry humor otherwise

Overly blunt to the point of (unintentionally) rude in both sign and verbal speech, also honest to a fault even if it’s not quite tactful (except they always lie to questions about their wellbeing)

Did lie about their age pre Calamity

Has a very large burn scar over their shoulder and arm from the guardian blast that did them in, and permanent nerve damage that causes them significant pain

TERRIBLE short term memory, uses a notebook and the Slate to take notes so they don’t forget basic things and experiences

Has a “Must Save Everyone” mindset even when it puts them in unnecessary danger

Prefers being alone (usually in the wilderness) over being around people, even though sleeping on the ground can cause pain flares

Very temperature sensitive (another side effect of being revived, excessively high or low temps can cause pain flares and fatigue/shortness of breath)

Feels like a failure over what happened 100 years ago, doesn’t think they’re worthy of being the Hero anymore and would greatly prefer to shed the title-name of Link

Excellent cook even though they will eat anything, cooking is one of the few things that makes them genuinely happy

Very skilled fighter, their ability to focus in the moment has led people to believe they can slow time (and maybe they can unknowingly)

Much more clever than they appear, but only about hyper-specific topics

Has insomnia, or more specifically prefers not to sleep over having terrible nightmares

Blames themselves for the Calamity

Has a fear/phobia of Guardians that they can't quite explain

12. not at all <3 They try their best but understand that they're not quite getting it.

17. Very hard to be convinced outright, but tricked? fairly easily but they'd feel horrible once they realized what was going on

12. Mostly, yeah, but he doesn't have the funds or resources to actually BE stylish. He thinks he's hot shit tho

12. Yep, he's pretty good at fashion. And it's all unintentional.

17. Extremely, extremely hard, if not downright impossible. Trickery would be difficult too

12. More than you'd expect, and yep he thinks so

17. Not as hard as you'd expect, but still not the easiest task. A trickery approach would earn you immediate distrust

17. If it was for the greater good or someone they cared about, sure he'd put his own morals aside

12. Depends on the colors, the day, and how they feel. Usually is semi fashionable. Not sure if they try or not, it depends.

17. Depends on what it is and how harmless it is. She's careful about the consequences of her decisions these days, but might be able to put personal morals aside temporarily.

Ivie (Broken Chains)

Based on Four Swords and Minish Cap Link

Genderfluid, they/them are ok “default” pronouns

Age 11

Has different alters similar to DID and usually a mix are active at a time, they refer to these as the Colors

Joined the others through a portal a few months after retuning the Four Sword

Red

Sensitive, emotional, bit of a crybaby, naive, kind

Green

The leader type, focused, determined, headstrong

Blue

Hotheaded, arrogant, quick-tempered, independent to a fault, grumpy

Vio(let)

Calm, collected, intelligent, a bit scheming, logical, mature

A mix of Red and Green usually “front” day-to-day with facets of the others showing up when necessary, Vio is rarely in the spotlight

They will try to hide that the Colors act as separate entities, this was Vio’s idea to console Red about being “different” from other people

The Colors did not show up as separate before pulling the Four Sword, and even after being combined back into one body they continued to be separate

Most days they are extremely compassionate, friendly, and actively social

Was a blacksmith’s apprentice before their adventure, has some but not much smithing knowledge

Considers making friends as or more important than the end goal of a quest, especially if the goal is not urgent

Very adaptable to different situations due to the Colors switching places and collaborating, but can seem like different people depending on the day/task

Most days people forget about the Colors and see them as a kid prone to mood swings

When one Color is completely in charge eye color will change

Being shrunk countless times stunted their growth and they will always be very short

They tend to not really know what to focus on without clear direction

Picky about food, and WHAT foods are “bad” changes with the day

Are usually the one keeping everyone together and insisting that they work as a team

Tend to be very curious about anything new

Can’t swim without assistance

(This is Damron from my Broken Chains AU in a modern setting)

"Here's the thing……" Riss's voice was almost a purr, but anger simmered underneath. "I'm YOU. I'm all that you could be. Refuse to be. Because you're afraid. Afraid of what would happen." He flourished his sword and paced in a tight circle. Shaien watched, on their guard. 

"You've got these stupid little ideas holding you back from your true potential." Riss continued, haughtiness creeping into his voice. "Morals. Responsibility. Heroics. Why not throw it all away? Why do you even bother keeping a reputation? It's all pointless." He moved quickly, too quickly, his sword now at Shaien's throat. 

"You know, for years they called me a monster just for my looks. They were scared for no fucking reason. No reason at all. And now? Well, let's say now they aren't scared enough." He paused, looking at Shaien with glowing red eyes. "The question is, hero, are you?"

Matdas (Broken Chains AU)

* Based on Skyward Sword Link

* Age 18 (entered the portal a few weeks after his adventure)

* He/him pronouns, cisgender, fluid presentation

* Very empathetic to the point of caring too much

* Will drop everything to help others

* Horrible cook, do not let him in the kitchen

* Good at puzzles; is the dedicated puzzle solver

* Can be very naive at times

* Seems to have the most level head and doesn’t get angry easily, but when angered can be extremely scary

* Has gone down in legend as “The Godslayer”

* Has woodcarving as a hobby

* Easygoing, appreciates his downtime

* Is fully in denial of any and all hardships he faced during his adventure

* Has a small stutter that got him teased as a kid, now is hesitant to talk around strangers even though it’s gotten much less noticeable

* Gets out of breath easily, probably asthma

* While he has formal sword training, he is far from the best fighter in the group and is actually somewhat bad at it compared to the others

* May have hand/eye coordination issues

* Needs more sleep than he really gets, or possibly has some sort of sleep disorder; usually tired

* Tends to worry too much, possibly to the point of anxiety

* Optimistic to a certain extent

* Grew up in Skyloft at the Knight Academy as an orphan, doesn’t remember his parents but also doesn’t feel like he’s lacking a family

* Tends to speak really softly/quietly (sound carries better at high altitudes so it’s just habit)

* Needs to fiddle with things near constantly, mostly to focus

* Really bad at remembering names

* Great memory otherwise

* Slept through most of his classes while he was in school, still managed to get excellent grades

* Was considered a bit of a prodigy in everything but combat

* Also the team medic when need be
