The 3 Hour Workday

Hello studyblr! Long time lurker, first time poster. This community has inspired the heck out of me so I’ve decided to start a blog about my own studying (mis)adventures. I’m a 23 year old American Master’s student in London. I think that makes me a bit older than a lot of people in this community. I only wish I had the motivation you all have when I was your age. Gosh, I actually used the phrase “when I was your age.” Put me in the ground already. I’ve made it through high school, undergrad, and my master’s courses. As I begin my dissertation, I realize that I still have trouble putting in long hours of work. My classmates would tell me about their 6+ hour study sessions and I’d be fruitlessly clawing my way towards a good 4 hours. However, when I studied with my classmates, I realized that they may have sat down to study for 6+ hours but they end up putting in the same amount of work I do. My habits are normal. I just need to work with them. I’ve decided to experiment. Instead of planning huge study sessions during the week in which I plan hours of work and a mile long list of tasks, I’m going to break things up. I’m going to attempt a 3 hour workday everyday. I think short periods of highly concentrated work will significantly boost my productivity. We’ll see how this goes.

Excision | Boston | 3.4.16

Considering that I attend an unnecessary amount of shows, you know that I mean business when I say that if you haven’t seen Excision on his Paradox tour, then YOU my friend really missed out on a dope ass show. Not only did I get the pleasure to see BearGrillz and Figure before Excision came out, but they did an AMAZING job to get the crowd pumped up for him. 

Let me first set the scene. I typically go to events at smaller venues, like The Middle East in Cambridge… or I’ll go big and see artists at Royale in Boston. Excision played at the House of Blues in Boston and it took me back to when I saw my first EDM show there, 4 years ago. 

 Although the HOB isn’t necessarily small, it has an intimate setting to it that I love. I was on the floor for Excision and although it was a sold out show, I didn’t feel like I was being suffocated by bassheads. I’m going to give you 5 reasons why you should see Excision on this tour: 

 1. The bass is absolutely unreal- I’m not even kidding when I say that I wasn’t even THAAAAAT close to the stage but I felt my ears were about to bleed (in a good way of course). 

2. The visuals were absolutely out of this world…. And coming from a girl who doesn’t do drugs, I could still appreciate how sick they were- in combination with the sound system, lights, and the actual stage production- it was TOTALLY worth every penny 

3. Excision is just AMAZING- he played his original songs (Robot Kitty | Make Em Bounce), as well as crowd favorites like YOGI- Burial, Propaganda- DJ Snake, Vibrate- Flux Pavilion…. I could keep going 

 4. THE DINOSAUR MADE AN APPEARANCE 

5. Bassheads are beautiful people. I would take the people that came to Excision over the half ass EDM fans I see at all other venues any day, hands down. 

 Killed it Excision, can’t wait to see you this summer for the 5th time YAAAAAA
