Radiant Souls is my ongoing post-movie Infection AU fic with Draxum as the protagonist, in which two of the turtles fall ill with a mysterious infection immediately following the Krang invasion. The family must then go on an adventure to figure out what it is and treat it before time runs out.

Chapter 12: A Turtle Tank Named Krangstine

Honey scanned his creator-father from head to hoof. If he was being honest, the older man didn’t look too good either. Honey had seen it before when he first started down the path to the good side: he was out of magic juice.

“But what about you?” Honey asked with concern-filled eyes.

Isyris faced away from Honey. “We will find another way in.”

“Dad, you didn’t answer my question,” Honey asserted.

Isyris’ ears flattened as he was called that word. The kid always pulled out the parental names when he wanted him to do something. He knew this, but the pressure to appease the youngest rendered him more pliable than he would have liked. More sentimental types might call it ‘going mushy’. Like many times before, the ornate box turtle molded him like clay. Isyris inhaled loudly in annoyance. “If you do not use your Ninpō, then I will not use my mystic powers either. Deal?”

Honey’s eyes brightened. “Deal!”

BTW I have a fun little reveal!

Back in June, I started writing fanfic for the first time ever, specifically a ROTTMNT fanfic. This is something that I had wanted to do for a long time; I have always been a writer. For a while I had a job as a college English writing tutor, and most of my creative or fandom writing was done in roleplays, often private or semi-private. So making a jump into writing fanfic and putting my ideas out there for the whole internet to see was a big deal.

I was deeply worried about being bothered about my fanfic and AU, because the ROTTMNT fandom is AU crazy and unlike any fandom I have ever dealt with before. So I chose to write my fic under a pen name for comfort. This was fine for a while, but eventually I got that itch to want to draw what I'm writing. However, it's kind of hard to do that when you want to keep the authorship of your fic a secret. So on this account, I pretended that I was simply a fan of the fic rather than the author when making art of it.

But y'know, it's getting a little too annoying to do that. And so I just want to make the reveal so that it doesn't look like I am stealing ideas or whatever. The story and art is all my own.

I am @cinnaster , the author of Radiant Souls. And it has been my baby, a big project of mine, since March, so I want to share it with you all!

I will likely be drawing art of my own fic, which will be posted here. I may insert art I make into the fic on AO3 itself too, we'll see. I'm not a good comic artist like many in the ROTTMNT fandom are; I really struggle with the art of comic making. But I'm decent at writing and illustration as separate crafts, so my plan is that I will be writing my fic and illustrating a few scenes here and there as I go.

This is something I'm a bit nervous about revealing, but I hope you all understand. There's many personal reasons why I did pen name stuff and why my fic is what it is, but that's something I'll probably only tell friends.
