I'm again using references to study, but also I wanna share my story ig??? the reference will be below.

It's kinda trivial and not very interesting, but anyway, when I was like 12-13 yo my mother took me to art school. I scraped up some works that weren't tooo shitty to show (all of them were bad at that time). So, the principal of the school glanced at them and said poetic and laconic phrase, that if I wasn't already Aivazovsky, then nothing would grow in me. Well, I'm 22 now. I'm still learning stuff and probably for my age I'm still not Aivasovsky or good enough but I do love drawing and progressing, even if I'm sad and angry when it's a shitty art in the end.

the moral of the story? idk, but I can literally tell only one thing: just keep going. there always will be people who mock, bully you or simply say that you're a piece of crap. do it for yourself, your joy, you can even not having goals for the things you do. if you're having fun - that's enough.

Wayyy too often I see people ship RoxyHal in such a boring way where they scrub off everything interesting about their dynamic at all to just have them be nice and cute together. They're actually kinda fucked so it bothers me seeing them together as like the go to Hal gets everything it wants and is treated nice ship.

That's the AI of the 13 year old version of the gay guy Roxy has a crush on (she has a crush on all her friends but Dirk especially because she wants to be him very much), whose original has literally tried to force himself to be attracted to her but couldn't, so she sexts the 13 year old AI version of him instead. And on Hal's side, reciprocates Roxy's affection purely to prove it can where Dirk can't as a way to rub it in its face as being the superior Dirk considering it is also gay and only attracted to a guy.

I don't think Hal getting a body would make their relationship completely fluffy and smooth considering their entire dynamic was predicated on Roxy using Hal as a replacement for Dirk and Hal using Roxy to get back at Dirk in turn. Give Hal a body and it's going to have to contest with now that it has a body that could actually be engaged with sexually it's gay and cannot be attracted to women. And maybe that part could be fixed by, y'know letting Roxy be transmasc like she canonically is but can't say I've ever seen more than one piece of fan content that engaged with the fact Roxy is canonically transmasc and it wasnt a RoxyHal.

Anyways I'm not against this ship or anything I just think the interesting part between them is the growing pains they'd have and I like interesting better than "Hal has body and blushes because untransitioned girl Roxy is giving it a hug" shrugs, if you're not gonna do that like at least replace it with something equally interesting.

My second unspoken gripe with how I see RoxyHal shipped is they never give Hal a cool kinda freaky robot design 😔
