Stewart Royal Tartan

The tartan you see portrayed in this painting is called Stewart Royal. It is possibly the most well-known tartan worldwide today and the foundation of many of the Stewart Tartans. 

An incredibly inspiring exhibition at the Queen's Gallery last year, exploring the relationship between Britain and Russia, The Royal Family and The Romanovs.I took this picture while admiring breathtaking artwork of showcased paintings, objects and dresses. "The family of Queen Victoria in 1887" by painter Laurits Regner Tuxen. Her Majesty commissioned this painting to commemorate her family gathering as well as to celebrate her Golden Jubilee, 50 years of her reign.

The Royal House of Stewart or Stuart, the "High Stewards" of Scotland can be traced back to a Breton nobleman in 1097. Later, the reign of James V ended in 1542, continued through Mary Queen of Scots to James VI who died in 1625. The house of Stewart come to an end on the death of Prince Charles Edward (Bonnie Prince Charlie) in 1788 and his brother Prince Henry Cardinal Duke of York. Thereupon, Queen Victoria adopted this tartan for the Royal Family and onward by the Royal Family today.

Colour is magnetic, can represent a mood and is storytelling. As the Christmas season slowly approaches, it brings us warmth from the colour red. A good time to reflect and plan, for the festive season ahead, although slightly different this year amid current covid situation; let's still make it remarkable treating our self to something special. There are many colours and fabrics available for you to choose, for kiltmaking or a bespoke jacket or a comfortable winter coat.
