pocky day was days ago :: who cares
🍫 to share a box of pocky, ❤️ to play the pocky game
@runefactorynonsense sent: I know Raguna probably bought 🍫 it to share, but if you dare hand Lyn the box, she's walking away with it.
It's not the kind of snack you can usually get out this way. Oh, making the snack was simple. A long thin biscuit cookie with a side dipped in chocolate. It was pretty simple, wasn't it? And yet something about the way the merchant had made the offer had Raguna... intrigued. Maybe she was just a really good saleswoman. Maybe Raguna is easily swayed and unaware of the urban ways.
What made this box better than something from the oven? Was that even part of the argument?
...Raguna had the box of cookies, that was all he knew for sure. And after trying one had come to the simple conclusion: they were not bad! Intriguing a purchase enough to share with Lynette, maybe she was more aware of this type of thing.
"Lynette, they sell packaged food like this back in Sechs, don't they? Or was that just a rumor... well. I don't want to eat all of these, so you can have some too." The box is offered, and ... hm. Rather than taking one or two pieces (as a normal person might expect) she... has taken the entire box.
"Lynette..." Raguna narrows his eyes, she's thanked him and is now turning to leave. The Earthmate follows after, but she only increases her pace. Another moment and they're both sprinting.
"GET BACK HERE! I SAID YOU CAN HAVE SOME! I WANT A FEW MORE PIECES PLEASE AND THANK YOU."

send ‘i dare you to kiss...’ with a name and well || [ open ]
@shadowcatskey / @runefactorynonsense sent: Why not. I dare Raguna to kiss Commander Lynette.
“Huh?" A voice on high has given Raguna a command that, once it’s seeped and taken root into his mind, the farmer can’t seem to ignore. Kiss Commander Lynette? He sets down the basket of materials he’d picked up just a moment ago, indigo gaze cast towards town square where the former Sechs agent was milling about. Adapting to life in Kardia has been difficult for her. Raguna can tell. It hadn’t been the smoothest process for him either. Earning the trust and blessing of the town, particularly for someone who had once been tasked with empowering the empire to conquer this quiet rural town, had been a process to say the least.
But anything was better than the alternative. Ethelberd. That mad tyrant. To think he was so brazen and disgusting to compel the woman to kill herself in repentance for her failure. It had set a fire in him in the past, one that was now burning with a different sort of emotion. Were his lips dry? Were hers soft?
“Miss Lynette!” Raguna calls out to the pinkette, about a pound of frogs bouncing around in his gut with the utterance of each word. This was usually so easy, talking with her had never been an issue before. The former military agent turns to regard the Earthmate, sizing him up and nearly freezing him in place with
“Raguna.” The woman sizes him up in a moment with wine red eye. She doesn’t smile, and brow is furrowed. Did... did she know what he was going to do? “You look ... well. Is there something you needed of me?” Even this long after the incursion had been repelled and her station no longer having relevance she retained such a formal speech. It was a little scary, but also, in a way- endearing? He’s really thinking about this stuff now. The farmer laughs and rubs his neck, still approaching. Now she seems suspicious.
And for good reason.
“Sorry, Lynette. I just need to uhm--” The fellow warrior, to her credit, stands her ground as Raguna steps before her. Maybe she was just as curious about what all was happening as the farmer was about how it would go. Two different blends of awkward that finally come to a point as lips peck softly against each other. Now Lynette reacts properly. Recoiling away like she’d just been slapped. If her eye went any wider it would catch the sun like its own star.
“What in the hells was th-that for, mister Raguna?!” Had he poisoned her?! Some kind of belated comeuppance for removing his memories or assaulting his home? How long of a game had this naive little Earthmate been playing with her. Said Earthmate, meanwhile, is only thinking about how that kiss had felt. Which is to say... pretty good?
“Aha... ha.. er, well. Uh. It was because... I f.. felt like it. I think.”
Gods, the young man is such an awful liar she’s almost inclined to believe him when he says there’s no other reason. But by doing so wouldn’t that mean...? !!!
“I have somewhere else I must go. C-carry on with your day.” And with that, she storms off with a blaze on her features and a waver in her gaze. There was a lot to think about. For both of them.

plausible offspring :: open
send a ship for a resulting child
@runefactorynonsense sent: "If they had a kid meme"? Oh you KNOW I need to ask. [Raguna and Lynette]
Name: Tristan Glen
Gender: Male
General Appearance: Average height and athletic build. Light pink hair, which they are not the most particular about keeping in order. Somewhat gloomy at first glance, but there's a twinkle in his eyes.
Personality: Despite the appearance, he is rather upbeat! Quite the observant learner (wonder where he gets that from) but is still more of the quality over quantity when it comes to talking. Says little, but gets right to the heart of things.
Special Talents: Has very little ability as an Earthmate compared to dad. But when it comes to pharmacy and alchemy work, he excels. Probably ends up being a doctor or researcher.
Who they like better: Raguna. Mom scares him a little and can be rough to deal with. And when he learns of their past he's not entirely cool with it. Still loves them both.
Who they take after more: Lynette, ironically. Visually but also in their work and business ethic.
Personal Head canon: The lack of Earthmate talent was a point of upset for Lynette, but when she lost to him in strategy board games she couldn't deny it was well compensated elsewhere.
Face Claim: U.ta O.uta from Actors: S.ongs C.onnection

send one for our muses to meet in a unique scenario~
@runefactorynonsense sent: 7) a sleeper train eight hours from its destination || Would be a darn shame if there wasn't also a chance of Lynguna 'one fell asleep on the other's shoulder'
A benefit of a lengthy trip is it gives Raguna time to piece together a favorable itinerary. It's not often he got away, to say nothing of how often Lynette gave herself a break, so it was important to give themselves a break. Not think about working. To relax. Pick up gifts for their friends back home. Were vacations normally this busy? He hadn't even started the first proper day and he felt a sense of foreboding begin to weigh on him.
Then again, this train had a way of rocking and clacking along the tracks that created a sort of... lull to it. That was another first. As far as he remembered at least. But anything is going to seem amazing when your frequent mode of transport was a powered scooter, right? He smiles, as there was always reason to, and turns to Lynette who was sat next to him, a familiar furrowed expression on her face.
"We won't be able to get anywhere today once we arrive, probably get settled in the hotel then find some nice food to eat."
"Mhmm.."
"But for the second, actually the third... I was thinking we can go go--"
"Mm."
"--and then actually, since the weather is supposed to be warmer, I was thinking this day we--"
"Hmmm....... mmh."
Raguna's rambles were creating a lull their own, for the other. Though the part-time worker saw it fit to make plans and think ahead, Lynette was deciding to start her vacation... now. Right here. One last neutral hum of possible agreement escapes before it turns closer to a sigh. Lungs relaxing out a snake of air as she loses another battle (DAMNIT) and lashes flutter helplessly over her eyes.
Raguna is oblivious of this, scratching another line on his notebook. He goes to ask another question whereupon...
"...ah. Oops." Gentle chuckles escape him on this newfound discovery, but he makes ... no move to dissuade her head from its decided place of rest agaisnt his shoulder. The gentle sigh of her breathing, the occasional wobble from the movement of the train. She looks rather defenseless, doesn't she? It's cute. And. If she needed the rest, Raguna had no intention of taking it from her... in fact...
"...yaaaAAAWn... maybe I should get some rest too. We're still hours away. And there'll be plenty of... time to think about all this... later..." Some would hate Raguna's ability to sleep quickly. Just as they'd curse him for having such a trope-laden opportunity! For as Lynette rested against him, his own head now gently leaned up against hers.
...they may stay like that awhile. Provided the train doesn't hit a particularly rough bump. The only thing they're going to lose, is Raguna's pencil, once it slips out of his hand and rolls somewhere else on the train car-

fall and halloween season starters :: open
@runefactorynonsense sent: ❝ Let’s go get hot chocolate then go for a walk. ❞ For all that it sounds like a demand, she sure looks hopeful. Already on her feet. Already near the door.
Reading Lynette for her tone is inviting a feedback loop that compounds frustratingly into, well, more frustration. She speaks in ways that conceal her intentions. Raguna's learned some of these tricks. Some of them. Certainly not all. But he knows to watch her face. Even with one eye hidden behind the patch there's some things betrayed by her breath just as much as they are by her hands.
Were they loose? Had she balled them up into fists? Her voice, after all, was still acclimating. Her previous life working to further a career in the military that did not appreciate her in turn left her with edges and swords that were unsure how to plow the soil. Or, sometimes, ask someone to indulge her in sweets, as it were.
"Do... I get a chance to get ready?? Or were you planning to carry me there? Just one sec!" She probably could do that, now that he thinks about it. Boots are pulled on over a double layer of socks. The weather was chilly, but a nice cup from the tavern would do nicely. Sure, he could make his own hot chocolate. But there's a particular here!
Lynette wanting to go out and socialize? Be in more social situations? That would be for Raguna, too. So much of this time of year compels one to stay inside once they're done working. Cozy it can be, but there's more to do and more to see, isn't there?
"Is there anywhere in particular you wanted to walk once we warmed up with a drink?"
"Not exactly." Ah, was that bashfulness or was it indecision? Raguna unfortunately doesn't pick up that much, ignorant of how it doesn't quite matter long as it's with you.
"How about we go along the lake, then. I love seeing how the water reflects the leaves when they're changing color. Don't you?"

things oft spoken to cats :: open
@runefactorynonsense sent: "Would it be offensive if I called you a rodent?" Likely said while reclining with feet up on the arm on some couch/chair.
That's a statement that would give anyone pause. Even though Raguna wasn't speaking at the moment, if he were, words would have quickly stopped. Instead, as he was entering the building after stacking up some wood outside, he pauses in his gait. The walking stick is set aside, and a brow furrowed at Lynette quizzically.
Her eye contact in this remains stable, and her own features were somewhat scrunched at saying that, which must mean there's some measure of sincerity to her question. That doesn't make it any better, mind you. Raguna's mouth hangs slightly agape. And one brow lifts.
"What?! I mean- Would you be offended if I said that to you? How about we start there. But why would you- is it my-" Raguna reaches up to his head, and a few touches tells him what's needed. It's a mess, and a compliment to the dusty jacket he'd tossed on for the aforementioned chore. "Pft." The farmer scoffs.
"Well with how catlike you can be I think you're just trying to get a leg up on me." The huff that follows is amused, as though this expansion of the metaphor leaves Raguna somehow more the victor rather than seated at the ridiculous table. "If you're looking for petnames, start with something more... I don't know. Nice??"
#runefactorynonsense#muse :: raguna#inbox :: answered ic#she remains an enigma#but frankly with how raguna springs every trap by participating#maybe he should be called that#but rodent is a little harsh...#if she called him her favorite mouse that'd be even weirder tho

@runefactorynonsense replied to your post “Raguna has appeared! What to do? Insult Blow a...”:
Kneel down- because Lyn's learned of those games where women are challenged to hoist their s.o. over their shoulders and she KNOWS she can do it.
"Huh? Why... Lynette? What are you doing?" Completely out of the loop here, the farmer is all but a perfect target for the endeavor. All in good sport, of course. But nobody would be surprised if Lynette didn't put a little... je ne sais quoi into it. That is, to hoist him more like a sack of potatoes than a gentleman of her fancy.
"WHAT JUST HAPPENED?"

our flag means death :: open
some starter prompts
@runefactorynonsense sent: [Maybe she was keeping an eye out for him to get back from Trampoli this past time, hm? And didn't have an excuse at the ready? ] ❝ i, um…i missed you. ❞
The road back into Kardia could be said to be lacking in spectacle. Once you hit the north-south highway heading west from Trampoli, it's a rather straight passage. Worn cobbles, a wide berth given by most of nature. For travelers and merchants that's a good thing. Safe! But... it's just not a lot to look at. A far cry from the winding trails of the frontiers of Norad.
Raguna had found way of transport back east with Lute's cart, but the merchant painter was heading north from here. No dice. The final leg of the trip back this time would be taken on foot.
The sun was falling to the wayside by the time the familiar clearing and smooth stones of the town square came into view. And. Someone else.
"Who's that?" He asks, to the zero people within earshot. Not that the figure needed to be to react. On seeing them, they also leave their post leaning against a column to step over at... what even was that pace? Something fast. Something measured. "Uh..." Raguna stops, the sun impeding his recognition until the familiar bob of hair gives accent to the attire. "Lynette! What were you doing out here-"
Because certainly, it couldn't have been related to him, right?
❝ i, um…i missed you. ❞
Or maybe it was... Hold on! Much more importantly than that! Doesn't Lynette look ridiculously cute right now?! That faint furrow of reluctance settled within an altogether flustered expression. Which, of course, Raguna's dumbfounded staring does nothing to alleviate.
"You... have a really nice look on your face right now. Sorry, I couldn't help but notice. It's cute. Nothing bad. I promise. Uh! But! It's good to be back!" Raguna makes sure to tag on, not intending to tease her too much. "You didn't have to wait for me here though. I would've found you to say hi."
Raguna chuckles good naturedly.
"Because I missed you too."

@runefactorynonsense sent: [ The wind around here has been pummeling my work and poor car today. Have a sappy windy prompt ]
The door was pushed shut in one decided flick of the wrist as she passed by, with steps taken almost as swiftly as the gale outside. A lone leaf swirled in, danced almost mockingly around her feet, before the sharp lock of the door cast a more comfortable quiet in the hall. Lynette gave the leaf a pointed, almost offended look, before her natural path took her away from the door she'd (well, rudely) taken from the Earthmate's hands. "The weather's only getting worse. Don't prove yourself a fool and go back out in that." She felt as though another gust, and rasp of a few branches, proved her point. "Work yourself to death tomorrow, instead. Meanwhile-" A hum in thought. A nod at some unshared thought. "Why not breakfast for dinner, unless you're forsaking the rights to those blueberries you so bravely rescued from the storm?"
Well! That was... startling to say the least. And it's a miracle that Raguna hadn't just walked into the door once Lynette had shut it in front of him. Wouldn't have been the first time he went on automatic like that... some embarrassment saved. A drop kept from the bucket. Small. But something!
"Ah- But I was just going to--" His words are locked away just as swiftly as the door was. He was not going to speak just yet, just as he was not going to work more just yet. Tomorrow... a pained look is passed outside the window. It had a strange air to it, like a moving painting that dipped and bowed from everything outside yielding to the whims of convection.
"Mmm..."
Whatever reluctance Raguna felt at the denial of completing unfinished tasks was quickly dispatched by shared thoughts from Lynette. It was as though an unseen stone had pricked at the window to his mind, something shared perhaps unwittingly. Why was it that damn Earthmate always seemed to know something others didnt? The smile, oh so familiar, graces his expression as he sets aside the work gloves and frustrations they created.
"That's a good idea. I like it! So with breakfast for dinner in mind... Would you rather I make blueberry pancakes. Or muffins? What do you like more, Lynette?" She is, of course, welcome to take however long she likes to divulge this sensitive information to the other. In the meanwhile he'll get to preparing bowls and other ingredients, the fresh berries getting a gentle wash in the sink.
Raguna turns after a moment of this, resting a similarly gentle gaze on the woman with a slight cant of the head. The weather outside was volatile, aggressive, but none of that permeated the walls of his home. In here, with this company, he was all but dismissive of whatever threat was poised. But who are we kidding? He wasn't worried about the storm to begin with.
Upsetting Lynette, however? Well we couldn't have that.
"And~ what else would you like to go with them? We'll need more than just that for dinner. Maybe some eggs? Hash browns?"
