Le format idéal ?

Hier, j'ai lu un article sur le photographe Bernard Descamps, cofondateur de l'agence Vu, enseignant, maître de stage... Il y est question du passage progressif puis définitif de l'artiste, du rectangle au carré. Pour lui, c'est une façon d'aller à l'essentiel en enlevant le superflu. D'après l'auteur : " Toutes les images que l'on voit sont rectangles : cinéma, peinture, écran d'ordinateur, pare-brise des voitures... Le carré lui contraint le champ de vision, il oblige à traduire l'espace dans ses limites... On doit prélever un morceau de l'espace pour préserver le hors champ... Cela incite le photographe ensuite le spectateur, à regarder autrement, à s'attarder un peu plus." L'auteur de l'article questionne l'artiste, il pense que ce format permet de s'extraire de la narration pour atteindre la contemplation pure. Depuis longtemps, ce format m'interpelle, me questionne. Je me suis mis à le tester au Polaroïd, au 6X6, et même au smartphone. En tant que graphiste l'espace de travail, le cadre en photographie a toujours été ma préoccupation première. Bien avant l'exposition ou la mise au point, remplir l'espace, équilibrer le cadre ou le déséquilibrer est mon premier réflexe lorsque je photographie ou que je dessine. Et puis le carré est aussi un rectangle... Je pense que le carré et moi allons faire un bout de chemin ensemble et nous verrons ce qui en résultera...

Cayeux sur Mer looked an interesting place. Lots of March land for duck hunting then lovely soft sand by the Somme River also has a seal population that stayed well out of view. Arrived exhausted at Saint Valerie sur Somme. Think I fell asleep for half an hour before we headed off to find provisions. Sausage, chicken, potatoes, broccoli and dill for dinner. Exhausted!!!!
