i should be working right now but instead i wrote out my primer for the sabo/koby agenda. the story linked above explores some of these elements, and i invite anyone to add to or use any of these ideas as they see fit ☺️

revolutionary vs. marine (enemies to allies to lovers dynamic my beloved)

sabo as dragon's protégé, koby as garp's—inheriting their mentors' wills, grudges, values, and prejudices 🙃

the romeo and juliet of it all?? a forbidden romance they have to hide from their peers...

koby as a member of SWORD, potentially having to ally briefly with revolutionaries (or INFILTRATE THEM??)

sabo, furious at koby for being involved in any way with marineford while ALSO deeply indebted to koby for stepping in when he did and helping luffy escape

koby coming to recognize that luffy is who he is in part because he had sabo in his life. seeing their similarities first then realizing all the ways they're different

sabo calling koby, "specs" 🥰

sabo torn up because he's Catching Feelings for his little brother's friend????

the two of them sharing values but disagreeing about how to pursue those values; koby determined to work within an existing (flawed) system and sabo determined to burn it all down

that couple whose idea of Date Night is watching documentaries & engaging in a good faith debate about the subject

finding ways to sneak each other encrypted messages via transponder snail to arrange meet ups

both of them deciding to get close to each other "for information" until it becomes something More

bandaging each other's wounds with their accessories (sabo's cravat, koby's headband). then keeping it on them as a good luck charm? 🫣

meeting on the battlefield and looking like they're fighting when really they're just redirecting each other's blows

koby being captured by the revolutionary army and sabo being assigned to watch him while he lays low post-reverie. or VICE VERSAAAA sabo being caught by SWORD?? koby and his soft heart on watch duty???

helmeppo and/or koala finding out about them and staging an intervention

the "my best friend's cool older brother, who i have a crush on" trope and all the hijinks it might contain 👀

just two rivals brought together by their love of the same guy (luffy—who is only bothered by what sabo/koby are up to when it interferes with HIS ability to hang out with them 😤)
