my first draw for 2024

Meija and her little tongue peeks to say Hullo!

am still learning how to draw with my pentel fude (gotta be light-handed); my mech pencil is pilot eno 0.7 (pink). Meija is a character in my (currently rebooting comic) RCH, formerly Sakuraday. I'll be sharing more about it sometime this year, hopefully. that and posting more art will be on my list of NY resolutions.

ink and sketch (i got excited to ink the sketch but ohwell). images have adjustments on contrast & brightness for presentation's sake. note to self: draw better arms next time =_=)...

progress update on the sakuraday reboot

seems i've been slumped about the writing part that i haven't shared some artworks so here they are: (in order of appearance)

Meija, Jonas, and Josef

the three main characters of sakuraday, if you haven't met them yet. They'd like to say "Hi and hello"", except maybe Josef who's not very good with first impressions (look at him grumbling in a corner).

re-drawing these characters helps when i get antsy and frustrated with the writing process. gotta balance the two. cuz apparently writing is a whole 'nother beast, though it has its fun times too i guess.

time to get back on the writing saddle and hope i dont fall.

my first illustration for 2022. I had too much fun with gradient maps but I settled with 8 variations and i have to share em! did you know googling "colour of the year 2022" gave me two different hues: "veri peri" (Pantone) and "evergreen fog" (Sherwin-Williams); guess which key colour I picked. aesthetics-wise, I've always leaned with eclectic but tbh this result wasn't entirely planned. still I had the most fun putting these influences all together to make this.

Meija is getting woozy and sleepy(?). Don’t worry dear, I’ll catch up soon... commission work is making me struggle a bit, but I’m managing now.

whew...I shouldn’t have used burn tool for shadows. Lesson learnt.

Not a recent one. Somewhere in 2016 that I forgot to post. My bad. Just added in a logo (maybe the tumblr watermark was redundant, oh well). It’s a redraw from my old post here.

Seems like I have very few redraws recently. Maybe I’ll post a redraw again of somthing from Sakura Day, or one of my old drawings. Redraws seems fun.
