Mystic Falls: Humanity Part I Ch. 16 (Now Edited)

Hello, my lovely readers. We finally get to see Jos, again, and she is about to reunited with a few people. On with the show…

Chapter 16: Inside Cell 016

Jos

It might have been three days. Maybe it was three months. Jos Saltzman found that you could easily lose time in this place. All she knew for certain was on her one trip outside of the detention facility for supes, she boarded a bus and traveled for long enough to fall asleep and woke to eternal darkness. She'd counted the moon rising at least twice before the bus pulled up to a building in an unmarked area. She had no idea what town she was in, or if it was a town. She could still be in Virginia or she could be Maine. But she suspected she was in Virginia, or Virginia adjacent land. Jos figured they were in Virginia because of the flowering dogwood trees Li loved so much the bus had passed a couple turns from the new building.

Currently, Jos as examining the hallway from an upside down perspective. All she could make out was a grey wall facing her. There used to be a cell across from hers. Couldn't have the inmates looking at each other; they might use their powers of telekinesis to form plans of escape. Idiots. Not all supes had that power. Where was Bonnie Bennett when you needed her?

With a sigh, Jos allowed her legs to fall forward and stood up straight. She felt bored and hungry. Mainly hungry. The last meal she ate was the hamburger they'd given her. She thought they probably laced it with something because she'd been groggy the entirety of the bus trip.

Falling into Warrior One pose, Jos extended her bent leg and arms above her head. Might as well exercise. And wish one of the true monsters who marched up and down this hallway would trip and fall on something sharp. The idea made her smirk. Damn. She was so hungry. Yes. She had reduced to the desire to pick blood of the dirty floor.

As if someone heard her thoughts, her door buzzed. This meant she had company. Maybe they would finally allow her into the lunch room and she could meet the new group of supes who lived here.

Maybe not... Her mood darkened when Townsend entered the cell. And here, she'd been thinking that the best part if moving would be never seeing his evil ass again. This seemed like just her luck.

"Good mornin,' Josie!" Townsend clapped his hands together and grinned. Oh good, the maniac was in a good mood. He must have tortured a kitten for his morning routine.

"Morning?" Jos scoffed. "I wouldn't know." She waved a hand to the place where a window would have been.

Townsend shrugged. "Thought vamps didn't like sunlight."

Jos rolled her eyes. Showed how much he knew about what she was. However, she was not in the mood to educate the ignorant.

Making his way to stand over her, Townsend looked her over. "Saw you doing your little yoga bit. Don't want to let yourself go. Not if you're going to live."

Jos frowned. "And here I thought you brought me here to kill me." She cocked her head to the side. "So, is that why you haven't cut my head off yet? Or do your little scientists have more experiments to conduct?"

Eyes glittering, Townsend reached out and cupped Jos' cheek. "That's what I like about you, girl, you're just so spunky. Hate for someone to extinguish that spark in ya."

Jos wrinkled her nose and took a wide step to the side. If she could, she would take a shower to get the feel of his touch off of her. "What do you want?" She demanded, folding her arms over her chest.

A smile appeared on Townsend's face. Her stomach lurched, but she forced herself to meet his gaze. "What do I want?" He placed his hands on his hips and let out a low whistle. "Billion dollars. Mansion of my own. Plenty if land. Cute little wife to come home to." He cocked his head to the side and stated at her while she glared back at him. "Don't worry, pumpkin. I'm just pulling your leg." Marching over to her he leaned down so they nearly nose to nose. "I want what everyone wants: Power. And I aim to get the real deal when the dust settles."

Frowning Jos tried to work through Townsend's warped mental games to figure out what his message meant, but as usual, he could not stop talking. "Right now, you, and me we have our parts to play. Now, why don't we mosey on down the hallway? If you're a good girl, I might even find a way to let you play in the yard tonight. How's that sound?"

Townsend's mouth was far too close to Jos' ear. She shook her head. "If it means I have to be nice to you: pass."

"Have it your way." Clamping a firm hand on Jos' upper arm, Townsend pushed her forward and out, into the hallway. He half-dragged her down the hall, up a flight of stairs and down another hallway. At the end of it, he punched code in and shot her a grin. "Don't try to be smart, Jos. Change these suckers by the hour. Only me, and my men know the new code." He pushed the door open with his free hand and pushed her ahead of him. "Lunch time, girl."

"You said it was morning." Jos shot Townsend a glare over her shoulder.

"It was. Eleven fifty-five. On the dot. You want to eat. Might want to move." Townsend's hand went to her back and he pushed her further into the room before letting the door close and sauntered off.

"Fuck you!" Jos snarled. She turned and used her vamp sight to peer around the cafeteria. She could see a number of tables. Just like the other facility's set-up. Then she caught sight of Penelope, MG, Kaleb and Roman. Her friends were here. They'd been moved, too. She would have cried if she did not want to appear weak.

Going to the line which was almost none existent, she waited her turn. A tray was handed to her by an instilling woman who did not look at Jos. Taking her food, Jos made her way toward her friends when someone called out her name: "Jos! Josie!"

Jo's head turned, and she found Stefanie Salvatore sitting at a table. Fanny was pregnant which made Jos' brows rise. She hoped that happened before the kid was captured; Jos' second thought was: Fan was not a supe. Why the hell was she here?

"JOS?" Fan looked so hopeful, and desperate, that Jos found herself nodding at her new friends before she made her way over to Fan's table. Looked like they would be a party if three. Again, Jos felt confused at the sight of one of docs being down here. Usually, they spent all their time in the lab, or the examination rooms. Did this guy get lost? Or was this some kind of test? Was another vamp in Jos' head, making her see Fan...

RIBA confirms 2021 and 2022 UK Awards programme plans

Friday 27th of November 2020 – The RIBA has today announced that the next call for UK awards entries will be next year – for the 2022 RIBA Awards.

The 2021 RIBA UK Awards (including Regional, National and the RIBA Stirling Prize) will be selected from the shortlist for the 2020 RIBA Regional, RIAS, and RSAW Awards.

The RIBA will continue to build on its rigorous eligibility and judging criteria, and, from the 2022 RIBA Awards, will require all project entries to have been in use for one year. This change will enable judges to assess projects with even more detail on their performance, more extensive client feedback, and a better understanding of how the project functions within its civic, communal and environmental context. It will also add greater focus to the sustainability criteria – further aligning them with the standards set out in the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.

RIBA President Alan Jones said: “I am pleased that the 2021 RIBA UK Awards will focus on judging and celebrating the exceptional projects that we were unable to visit this year. Not only is this the fairest outcome – reached after detailed consultation with entrants and jurors – but it provides an unexpected opportunity for us to bring forward plans to significantly refresh our judging criteria – with projects having to be in use for one year. The RIBA and our members are committed to the best, sustainable design that will serve generations to come, and I am pleased that from 2022 we will be able to further demonstrate this through our awards programme.”

RIBA president Jane Duncan said,

“The lack of high-quality new housing is a huge issue in the UK so I am particularly pleased to see great examples of well-designed, sustainable new homes amongst our award winners,” she added.

“We all deserve a well-designed, affordable home, wherever we live in the country. I encourage other local authorities, developers and clients to look at these projects as exemplars.”

She praised the inclusion of a number of high-quality schools – including The Laboratory at Dulwich College and new music facilities at Wells Cathedral School – but said it was disappointing to see no new state school buildings included in this year’s awards.

“Well-designed schools support improved student achievement, and staff and student wellbeing and should be part of educational aspirations for all our schools, not just those in the fee-paying sector,” she said.

𝙺𝙴𝙽𝙽𝙴𝙳𝚈 𝚃𝙷𝚁𝙾𝚄𝙶𝙷𝙾𝚄𝚃 𝚂𝙴𝙰𝚂𝙾𝙽 𝙾𝙽𝙴 𝙾𝙵 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚅𝙰𝙼𝙿𝙸𝚁𝙴 𝙳𝙸𝙰𝚁𝙸𝙴𝚂.

𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙴 𝚆𝙴 𝙶𝙾 ( 𝙿𝙸𝙻𝙾𝚃 ) : senior year for kennedy begins , & she’s her usual busy-body self ——— track team captain , mr. tanner’s student assistant for the junior history class , library assistant at the town’s library , volunteer at the hospital on saturdays , & children’s bible study teacher wednesday nights. she has her first mysterious encounter with damon on her way to work. he confuses her for eliza , his childhood best friend , in which she quickly corrects him on the fact before leaving. oliver announces he is back together with vicki , something that causes controversy between him & tyler & jeremy. & while everyone else is fawning over stefan , kennedy is more concerned about oliver & vicki , the latter of which is attacked at the back to the falls bash.

𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙷𝙰𝚁𝙱𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙶𝙴𝚁 𝙾𝙵 𝙳𝙴𝙰𝚃𝙷 ( 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙽𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃 𝙾𝙵 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙲𝙾𝙼𝙴𝚃 ) : a comet seems to elude to upcoming bad karma & death. kennedy runs into damon again at the library , & vicki goes missing during the comet , worry oliver & matt. kennedy picks up a misplaced library book in the alley while looking for vicki. damon moves onto a new target ——— caroline.

𝙵𝚁𝙸𝙳𝙰𝚈 𝙽𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃 𝙱𝙸𝚃𝙴𝚂 : stefan joins the football team , & kennedy learns damon is now dating caroline. although not upset at the news , kennedy is disappointed at this development after all her unusual encounters with him the past week. caroline forces elena & kennedy to come to cheer practice , even though kennedy insists she’s far too busy with her other extracurriculars to be on the squad. damon & caroline crash elena , stefan , & bonnie’s dinner at the gilbert house. stefan informs bonnie her family is descended from the salem witches. meanwhile , bonnie has a premonition about the numbers 𝟾 , 𝟷𝟺 , & 𝟸𝟸 , which reappear when coach tanner’s body is found in the parking lot during the game.

𝙵𝙰𝙼𝙸𝙻𝚈 𝚃𝙸𝙴𝚂 : the founders’ ball is on its way , & kennedy is overcome with a strong sense of déjà vu ( especially when her & damon dance ) , as well as the strangest sense of foreboding. unaware at the time of the ball , these feelings are because every incarnation before her has died on the september 25 of their eighteenth year of life. carol lockwood pressures elena into finding an old pocket watch , & jeremy gets upset because he was supposed to inherit it from their dad. elena learns how badly damon is hurting caroline , & bonnie begins to believe she really does have magical powers. while damon is distracted dancing with kennedy , stefan poisons caroline’s drink with vervain , allowing him to incapacitate damon later & chain him up in the cellar. sheriff forbes , logan fell , mayor lockwood , & carol lockwood discuss the idea that vampires might be back in mystic falls.

𝚈𝙾𝚄'𝚁𝙴 𝚄𝙽𝙳𝙴𝙰𝙳 𝚃𝙾 𝙼𝙴 : stefan has damon locked up in the cellar of the boarding house. kennedy is no longer stuck with a sense of foreboding , but replacing it is a disturbing reoccurring nightmare. the school’s athletic department is having a car wash fundraiser , & kennedy has to help as a member of the track team. damon tricks caroline into freeing him & then proceeds to kill zach. bonnie experiments with her powers , & elena figures out stefan is a vampire.

𝙻𝙾𝚂𝚃 𝙶𝙸𝚁𝙻𝚂 : kennedy dreams get vivider & darker , leaving her freaked out & on edge throughout the day. she begins to notice similarities between certain characters in her dreams to people in her life ——— elena / katherine , damon , stefan , etc. she chalks it up to them being dreams & her mind using her experiences & memories to create them. stefan explains his past to elena. damon keeps vicki at the boarding house with him. vicki becomes a vampire & kills logan fell. kennedy beings to think about her dream & the town events & begins to investigate at the library , sneaking out late at night to do so.

𝙷𝙰𝚄𝙽𝚃𝙴𝙳 : kennedy’s dreams become stronger & more prominent , even violent & creepy. during the day , she keeps seeing bits of them. bonnie & oliver get slightly worried but don’t know who to tell. vicki adjusts to being a vampire & avoids oliver. the high school’s halloween party is underway. kennedy skips out & decides to go to the library instead. stefan is forced to kill vicki , & damon compels jeremy’s pain away. caroline gives bonnie the crystal. when kennedy goes to the bed that night , she wakes up screaming for the first time since her childhood , having dreamt of eliza’s death.

𝟷𝟼𝟸 𝙲𝙰𝙽𝙳𝙻𝙴𝚂 : stefan’s old friend lexi arrives in town for his birthday , & caroline decides to throw a party at the grill. kennedy continues to have odd dreams & homes in on the numerous amount of animal attacks near mystic falls during her free time. along with her weird dreams , kennedy’s drawings begin showing signs of premonitions & past memories ——— some of the things she draws include damon’s crow , eliza’s meadow , & lexi’s face. she bumps into damon at the party & also briefly ends up talking with lexi , but when she brushes against lexi’s shoulder , she again has this awful sense of foreboding. when the police show up & guard the front door , kennedy grows even more suspicious of the events occurring in her town & who all knows about it.

𝙷𝙸𝚂𝚃𝙾𝚁𝚈 𝚁𝙴𝙿𝙴𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 : kennedy & the new history teacher alaric bump heads as she tries to maintain her student aid position. the girls have a sleepover at elena’s & hold a séance , where bonnie gets “ possessed ” by emily bennett. while caroline doesn’t buy into it , kennedy is freaked out by hearing the ghost haunting bonnie is named emily , someone who has been appearing in her dreams. elena insists there is nothing wrong & runs off to find bonnie , leaving kennedy to go home worried.

𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚃𝚄𝚁𝙽𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙿𝙾𝙸𝙽𝚃 : logan fell returns to town in time for the career fair at the high school. kennedy , who still hasn’t figured out her odd dreams but is pretty convinced the salvatores are vampires from her research ( but not convinced enough to confront them with this information yet ) , only stays for about thirty minutes before changing into her track gear from her locker & going on a late night jog in the woods to clear her head. logan attacks her on his way to meet damon. some other vampire , later discovered to be katherine , saves her before the two of them run off. alaric kills logan , & damon finds kennedy bleeding in the forest before getting a call from sheriff forbes that logan is dead. damon heals her , learns she has already discovered he & stefan were vampires , & decides to take her on his road trip to georgia. on their way out of town , the two find elena’s car crashed on the road.

𝙱𝙻𝙾𝙾𝙳𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙴𝚂 : kennedy & damon find elena’s car crashed on the road & a man in a hooded jacket running away from it. damon helps elena our of the car , & the three begin their journey to atlanta , with elena passed out in the backseat. kennedy plays twenty questions with damon about vampires & the supernatural before elena wakes up , confused & curious about how kennedy got involved in this. they end up at a bar , meeting a which named bree. bree eyes kennedy curiously but doesn’t say anything to her. kennedy hangs out with damon at the bar but doesn’t drink because she doesn’t trust him yet. when lexi’s boyfriend shows up & tries to kill damon , elena & kennedy plead for his life. on their way home , kennedy asks damon if it’s possible to remember a life you’ve never had , & damon answers maybe.

𝚄𝙽𝙿𝙻𝙴𝙰𝚂𝙰𝙽𝚃𝚅𝙸𝙻𝙻𝙴 : kennedy begins keeping secrets from her parents about where she is & who she’s hanging out with as she begins to spend more time with the salvatores. damon enlists her help with finding his father’s journal , & elena gives her a vervain-filled bracelet for safety. kennedy goes to the decades dance dressed as sandy from the end of 𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚎 & dances with damon. she makes small talk with alaric at the dance & tells damon that she thinks alaric seems like a regular guy. damon scoffs & remarks “ so does every other vampire ”.

𝙲𝙷𝙸𝙻𝙳𝚁𝙴𝙽 𝙾𝙵 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙳𝙰𝙼𝙽𝙴𝙳 : the race for johnathan gilbert’s journal begins , & while stefan & elena are pretending to help find the journal for damon , they decide to leave kennedy out of their scheme because of her new “ friendship ” with damon. kennedy looks in the library for the book because it has a small collection of founders’ journals. there , she stumbles upon her own face in eliza gilbert’s journal & goes to find answers from sheila bennett. sheila explains reincarnation to her & her own friendship with evelyn warren , kennedy’s previous incarnation. she gives kennedy evelyn’s ring. meanwhile , damon catches elena & stefan in their lie & takes the journal but not before asking if kennedy knew what the duo had been up to. anna kidnaps elena & bonnie.

𝙵𝙾𝙾𝙻 𝙼𝙴 𝙾𝙽𝙲𝙴 : elena & bonnie have been kidnapped by anna & ben. kennedy , who has been with sheila ——— studying as much as she can about evelyn & eliza ( & avoiding damon ) , & sheila agree to help stefan find elena & bonnie. bonnie & grams open the tomb. while stefan goes to get his arsonist tools , damon uses kennedy as leverage to get in the tomb. ben threatens to harm jeremy & anna uses it as her opportunity to get her mother , taking elena into the tomb with her. bonnie asks why grams didn’t stop them , & she responds that no vampire is getting out of the tomb. stefan comes back & hears that elena & kennedy are in there & rushes back to save them , but sheila stops him. pearl bites elena , & elena runs off. damon learns katherine is no longer in the tomb. stefan & kennedy convince him to get out , & everyone ( elena , kennedy , damon , stefan , pearl , & anna ) make it out of the tomb. grams passes away. another vampire from the tomb escapes.

𝙰 𝙵𝙴𝚆 𝙶𝙾𝙾𝙳 𝙼𝙴𝙽 : the group deals with the aftermath of opening the tomb. the vampire who escaped the tomb , later revealed to be harper , attacks a hiker & steals their clothes. elena learns more information about her birth mother , & jenna confronts alaric about the possibility his wife isobel & elena’s mother are the same person. meanwhile , damon deals with katherine’s betrayal by partying at the boarding house. kennedy concerned about his behavior & takes a break from researching reincarnation to check on him. sheriff forbes asks damon to participate in the bachelor auction , & damon asks her about alaric. damon reveals he knew isobel during the auction. kennedy stops by at the boarding house again that night to talk to damon about his behavior in the bar , but alaric comes over & confronts damon. damon kills alaric , but he is magically revived somehow , leaving damon & kennedy confused. elena receives a warning from isobel ——— 𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚢 𝚊𝚠𝚊𝚢.

kennedy’s personality outside of school is full of bad puns , enjoying parties , etc. she is both innocent while being a sneaky troublemaker. she sneaks out on occasion & goes out with oliver & vicki to college parties , but as far as her parents are aware , she always follows the rules. she is a perfectionist , but she enjoys letting loose & having fun with her friends. but because of her behavior at school over the past years & her usual nerdy , goody-two shoes personality , many people find her weird & annoying.

kennedy’s curfew is earlier than the rest of the gang & getting home on time seems to be very important to her father. this becomes an increasing problem as kennedy becomes aware of the supernatural world around her & remains unaware of her own family’s supernatural secrets ——— i.e. bryan being a witch. bryan on his part does a good job pretending he has no idea what is going on in the town & merely appears to be overly protective.

damon was going to honor eliza’s death ( 1.04 , the day after the founders’ ball ) by planting flowers in the meadow where they used to stargaze or escape giuseppe & johnathan & then go sit by the lake & just think & talk about his life to the air , but he doesn’t get the chance to because stefan put vervain in caroline’s drink , effectively poisoning damon so stefan can lock him up in the salvatore cellar.

stefan & kennedy’s interactions are very awkward in early season one because he keeps seeing eliza , who was only a few months his elder back in the day , instead of kennedy when they talk. her mannerisms tend to mock eliza’s a lot.

sheila bennett constantly alludes to evelyn throughout her season one interactions with kennedy , & when kennedy finds out about sheila’s history with her previous reincarnation , she wonders when sheila realized kennedy was evelyn.

from episodes 4-10 , kennedy begins to feel left out & even isolated as her dreams continue to bug her & her friends get absorbed in their own problems.

kennedy begins to have strange dreams about her past lives , as well as dreams involving premonitions. at first , she dismisses the dreams as nightmares & trying to make sense of all the new things that have happened this school year , but she begins to believe there might be something more to it. the first time kennedy dreams of dying as eliza , she wakes up screaming for the first time in years.

some of kennedy’s premonitions & memory recollections appear in her sketches. she’s seen drawing damon’s crow at one point , only with fangs. she’s also seen drawing the meadow eliza & damon frequented.

again , kennedy’s very on edge before being attacked by logan. she feels like she is going to die very often because of her dreams. it’s almost as if her body realizes she’s past her original death date , having survived longer than any other incarnation after living past 1.04.

in 1.10 , kennedy gets attacked by logan fell , & unbeknownst to her , she is saved by katherine pierce. damon finds kennedy stumbling in the woods , bleeding & heals her. they are not far from the meadow in this scene.

kennedy & damon play twenty questions about vampires & the supernatural on their way to georgia. on the way back to virginia , kennedy asks about whether it’s possible to remember something she’s never lived through , & it gets awkwardly quiet after damon answers maybe.

bree had seen photos of evelyn from her mother. bree’s mother knew evelyn & her aunt & had run into the younger witch on more than one occasion back when evelyn was vampire hunting.

in 1.12 , kennedy dances with damon at the 50s decades dance. she is dressed up as sandy from 𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚎 , resembling a look evelyn wore while dancing with j.d. kennedy helps the gang with research on several occasions ——— getting katherine out of the tomb , isobel , her own reincarnation mess ( with help from bonnie & sheila ) , johnathan gilbert , among other things as the seasons go by. kennedy is damon’s leverage into the tomb. kennedy agrees less reluctantly than one would imagine since she has started to see damon as more of a friend than a foe , especially because at this point she has read eliza’s journals & knows how eliza felt about him back when he was still human. when damon asks about the journals , she leaves out eliza’s true feelings for him & merely informs him that eliza considered him her best friend. sheila & bonnie are not okay with kennedy being used as leverage , & neither is elena or stefan , but at this point , stefan believes kennedy won’t be hurt by damon’s hands.

kennedy is captured by the tomb vampires with stefan because of her resemblance to eliza gilbert. during this , she has her first physical encounter with her own magic , setting something on fire , but dismisses it as a daydream because of her blood loss.

kennedy hides what she knows from her parents about the supernatural , especially her father. in doing so , she begins seeking other adult figures for advice ( such as sheila before her death & later alaric ). as kennedy & alaric begin to bond more , she begins to see him as an uncle figure / older brother figure.

at the founders’ day parade , kennedy is helping run the library’s booth , promoting its founders’ archive & collection of civil war era novels. damon pesters her as stefan tries to talk to him about elena. elena arrives in costume , & the brothers do a double-take at her resemblance to katherine. kennedy notices their staring & asks damon a moment later if that’s what katherine looked like back in 1864. he nods before shrugging , saying the dress reminded him more of eliza’s style , but yes.

at the end of 1.22 , damon walks kennedy back to her house , where she tells him she’s glad he’s okay & not dead. he makes a quip back that technically he is dead & has been for 145 years. kennedy just rolls her eyes & kisses his cheek. she tells him goodnight before walking inside her house. damon is left standing here momentarily stunned before he leaves to elena’s house where he has the talk with jeremy & encounter with katherine.

KENNEDY THROUGHOUT SEASON ONE OF THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

HERE WE GO ( PILOT ) : senior year for kennedy begins , & she’s her usual busy-body self ——— track team captain , mr. tanner’s student assistant for the junior history class ( & later alaric’s as well ) , library assistant at the town’s library , volunteer at the hospital on saturdays , & children’s bible study teacher wednesday nights. she has her first mysterious encounter with damon on her way to work. he confuses her for eliza , his childhood best friend , in which she quickly corrects him on the fact before leaving. oliver announces he is back together with vicki , something that causes controversy between him & tyler & jeremy . & while everyone else is fawning over stefan , kennedy is more concerned about oliver & vicki , the latter of which is attacked at the back to the falls bash.

THE NIGHT OF THE COMET : a comet seems to elude to upcoming bad karma & death. kennedy runs into damon again at the library , & vicki goes missing during the comet , worrying oliver. kennedy picks up a misplaced library book in the alley behind the grill while looking for vicki. damon moves onto a new target ——— caroline.

FRIDAY NIGHT BITES : stefan joins the football team , & kennedy learns damon is now dating caroline. although not upset at the news , kennedy is disappointed at this development after all her unusual encounters with him. caroline forces elena & kennedy to try out for the cheer team , even though kennedy insists that even if she makes the team she won’t be cheering because she’s too busy with her other curriculars. meanwhile , bonnie has a premonition about the numbers 8 , 14 , 22.

FAMILY TIES : the founder’s party is on the way , & kennedy is overcome with a strong sense of déjà vu ( especially when her & damon dance ) , as well as the strangest sense of foreboding. this is due to the fact that every incarnation before her has died on september 25 when they were eighteen , although she is unaware of this of course. while kennedy & damon dance , stefan poisons caroline’s drink with vervain , later allowing to chain damon up.

YOU’RE UNDEAD TO ME : stefan has damon locked in the cellar. kennedy is no longer stuck with a sense of foreboding , but replacing it is a crazy nightmare. she thinks it nothing more than an odd vivid dream. the school’s athletic department is having a car wash , & kennedy has to help. damon tricks caroline into freeing him , & then kills zach. bonnie experiments with her powers , & elena figures out stefan is a vampire.

LOST GIRLS : kennedy dreams get vivider & darker , leaving her freaked out & on the edge throughout the day. she begins to notice similarities between certain characters in her dreams to people in her life ——— elena / katherine , damon , stefan , etc. she chalks iup up to them being dreams & her mind using her experiences & memories to create them. stefan explains his past to elena. damon keeps vicki at the boarding house with him. vicki becomes a vampire & kills logan fell. kennedy begins to think about her dreams & the town events & begins to investigate at the library late at night.

HAUNTED : kennedy’s dreams become stronger & more prominent , even violent & creepy. during the day , she keeps seeing bits of them. bonnie gets slightly worried but doesn't know who to tell. vicki adjusts to being a vampire & avoids oliver. the high school’s halloween party is underway. kennedy skips out & decides to go to the library instead. stefan is forced to kill vicki , & damon compels jeremy’s pain away. caroline gives bonnie the crystal. when kennedy goes to bed that night , she wakes up screaming ( having dreamt of eliza’s death ).

162 CANDLES : stefan’s old friend lexi arrives in town , & caroline decides to throw a party at the grill. kennedy continues to have odd dreams & begins investigating the numerous amount of animal attacks near mystic falls during her free time. along with her weird dreams , kennedy’s drawings begin showing signs of premonitions & past memories ( some of the things she draws include damon’s crow , the meadow , & lexi’s face ). she bumps into damon at the party , & also briefly ends up talking to lexi. but when she brushes against lexi’s shoulder , she again has this awful sense of foreboding , but when the police show up & guard the front door , kennedy grows more suspicious of the events in town.

HISTORY REPEATING : kennedy & the new history teacher bump heads as she tries to maintain her student aid position. the girls have a sleepover at elena’s & hold a séance , where bonnie gets “ possessed ” by emily bennett. while caroline doesn’t buy into it , kennedy is freaked out by hearing the ghost haunting bonnie is named emily , someone who has appeared in her dreams. elena insists there’s nothing wrong & runs off to find bonnie , leaving kennedy to go home worried.

THE TURNING POINT : logan fell returns to town in time for the career fair at the high school. kennedy , who still hasn’t figured out her odd dreams but is pretty convinced the salvatores are vampires from her research ( but not convinced enough to confront them with this information ) , only stays for about 30 minutes before changing into her track gear from her locker & going on a late night jog in the woods. logan attacks her on his way to meet damon. some other vampire ( later discovered to be katherine ) saves her before the two of them run off. ric kills logan , & damon finds kennedy bleeding in the forest before getting a call from the sheriff that logan is dead. damon heals her , learns she has already figured out the whole vampire nonsense going on in town , & decides to take her on his roadtrip to gerogia. on their way out of town , the two find elena’s car crashed on the road.

BLOODLINES : the chapter begins with kennedy & damon finding elena’s car crashed on the road & a man in a hooded jacket running away from it. damon helps her out of the car , & the three being their journey to atlanta , with elena passed out in the backseat. kennedy plays twenty questions with damon about vampires and the supernatural before elena wakes up , confused & curious about how kennedy got involved in this. they end up at a bar , meeting a witch named bree. bree eyes kennedy curiously but doesn’t say anything to her. kennedy hangs with damon at the bar but doesn’t drink because she doesn’t trust him yet. she helps elena plead for his life , however , from lexi’s boyfriend. on the way back , kennedy asks damon if it’s possible to remember a life you’ve never had , & damon answers maybe.

UNPLEASANTVILLE : kennedy begins keeping secrets from her parents about where she is & who she’s hanging out with as she begins to spend more time with the salvatores. damon enlists her help with finding his father’s journal , & elena gives her a vervain filled bracelet for safety. kennedy goes to the dance with dressed as sandy from the end of grease & dances with damon. she makes small talk with ric at the dance & tells damon that ric seems like a regular guy. damon scoffs & remarks “ so does every other vampire ”.

CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED : the search / race for johnathan gilbert’s journal begins , & while stefan & elena are pretending to help find the journal for damon , they decide to leave kennedy out of the scheme because of her new “ friendship ” with damon. kennedy looks in the library because of the small collection of founder’s journals they have. there , she stumbles upon her own face in eliza gilbert’s journal & goes to find answers from sheila bennett. sheila explains about reincarnation & her friendship with evelyn warren ( the previous incarnation ). she gives kennedy evelyn’s ring. meanwhile , damon catches elena & stefan in their lie & takes the journal but not before asking if kennedy knew what the duo had been up to. anna kidnaps elena & bonnie.

FOOL ME ONCE : elena & bonnie have been kidnapped by anna & ben. kennedy , who has been hanging out & studying as much as she can about evelyn & eliza ( & avoiding damon ) from grams , & grams agree to help stefan find elena & bonnie. bonnie & grams open the tomb. while stefan goes to get his arsonist tools , damon uses kennedy as leverage to get in the tomb. ben threatens to harm jeremy , & anna uses it as her opportunity to get her mother , taking elena into the tomb with her. bonnie asks why grams didn’t stop them , & she answers that no vampire is getting out. stefan comes back & hears that elena & kennedy are in there & rushes to save them , but sheila stops him. pearl bites elena , & elena runs off. damon learns katherine is no longer in the tomb. stefan & kennedy convince him to get out , & everyone ( elena , kennedy , damon , stefan , pearl , & anna ) make it out of the tomb. grams passes away. a vampire from the tomb escapes.

A FEW GOOD MEN : the group deals with the aftermath of opening the tomb. the vampire who escaped the tomb , later revealed to be harper , attacks a hiker & steals his clothes. elena leanrs more information about her birth mother , & jenna confronts alaric about the possible connection between elena’s isobel & his wife isobel. meanwhile , damon deals with katherine’s betrayal by partying at the boarding house. kennedy is concerned about his behavior & takes a break from researching reincarnation to check on him. sheriff forbes asks damon to participate in the bachelor auction , & damon asks her about alaric. damon reveals he knew isobel during the auction. kennedy stops by at the boarding house again that night to talk to damon about his actions in the bar , but alaric comes over & confronts damon. damon kills alaric , but he is magically revived somehow , leaving damon & kennedy confused. elena receives a warning from isobel ——— stay away.

Mystic Falls: Humanity Part I Ch. 14

Hello, my lovely readers. I wrote this chapter and then my computer died and ate it. Sorry for the wait. On with the show…

Ch. 14: Join the Club, or Die Trying

Maria

On a Friday morning, two hours after her husband, the honorable Mayor Donovan, left for work; Maria Donovan heard the doorbell chime. It rang, twice, before leaving behind an eerie silence in its wake. Frowning, Maria tied the belt of her robe and got up from the breakfast bar. When the bell tolled, she had been drinking an espresso and perusing the New York Times on her ThinkPad. As soon as Maria left the room, the ThinkPad went into sleep mode and the kitchen lights dimmed while the hall lights lit her way to the front door. The security camera panned to the left of the door, letting her know that no one stood outside. She ran a finger over the control screen and the camera titled downward. No one, but something, had arrived.

Opening the door, Mafia looked down the sidewalk and at the driveway. No one could be seen spying on her. She leaned down and plucked up a cream-colored envelope. Donovan was scrawled a across the front. Chest tightening, Maria scowled at the envelope. This was the type of invite that the Mikaelsons sent out, regularly-before the existence of vampires had been revealed. It looked like they were no longer concerned with burned up in their five-hundred count sheets.

Maria returned to the kitchen. She had every intention of tearing the invite to shreds and then running it through the garbage disposal; when she hesitated. Perhaps, she should go to their little party and find a way of exposing one of them to the men who had been cleaning the town up.

With a smile, Mafia drew a red-painted nail across the flap and removed the invite. Her brows rose at the sight of the owed on the card:

Greetings Mayor and Mayoress,

Please, join us, tonight for dinner, drinks, and a life changing opportunity.

Sincerely,

M. Greasely

Raising an eyebrow, Maria wondered who this M. Greasely was. She did not recall meeting anyone with that name, and Maria made it a point to know the names of anyone who held any kind of power in this tiny town.

Turning the card over, Maria did not find a clue to the new mystery. She sniffed the card, and did not find a cologne, or detect anything, other than fine stationary. Yes, whoever this M. Greasely was, they spared no expense on their invites.

Maria set the card down. Re-taking her seat at the breakfast bar, she picked up her cooling espresso and took a long sip. Narrowing her eyes, she continued to stare at the invite until a light bulb went off and she smiled. Maybe she did know who M. Greasely was, not personally, but was beginning to become a fan of their work.

Patting the card, Maria made a decision...

That night, Maria stood in her bedroom, adjusting her earrings and waited the mayor to return home. She pursed her lips at her reflection. "Mr. Mayor is home," a voice in the wall informed her.

"Thank you," Maria said. She picked up the end of her red gown and left the room, continuing down the hall and arrived at the top of the stairs.

Matt stood at the bottom of the stairs, loosening his tie, and his briefcase sat his feet. When he caught sight of his wife, his eyes rounded and he began to grin. "Maria, you look stunning." With a spring in his step, Matt bounded up the stairs and stopped before his wife. He took her hand and kissed the back of it. "Let me take a quick shower and make a call. I'm sure someone can fit us in for last-minute reservations."

Tilting her head, Maria offered Matt a demure smile, "Come," she said, with a little wave of her hand.

Tugging his tie off, Matt followed her down the stairs and into the kitchen. When she turned to face him, Maria could see a "I don't get it" expression on Matt's face. "This!" she tapped a finger on the invite, "Is our reservation!"

A shadow passed over Matt's face. He moved closer to the breakfast bar. Instead of picking up the invite, Matt glance at Maria, "Who gave this to you?"

"No one," Maria replied, lightly.

Finally, Matt picked it up and his blues eyes scanned the contents. "You want to go to dinner hosted by a man you've never met before?" His brows went up as he turned to look at Maria.

"Yes. Since you obviously have met him." Mafia watched Matt close his eyes, briefly, before reopening them. "You've been in office too long. The former sheriff would have not let a detail like that slip easily," Maria chided him, placing a hand on his arm.

"You're my wife. I'm supposed to tell you things," Matt replied.

"But you did not tell me about this man," Maria shot back.

"I don't trust him," Matt said.

"Oh? Well, all the more reason we should go to the dinner. See what he wants from us. See who else is being recruited for this little clock-and-dagger club." Maria grinned up at Matt. "Use your training, Donovan, you've grown rusty."

Rolling his eyes, Matt leaned down and kissed his wife on the lips. "I'm going to clean up."

"Be quick. I laid out you suit and polished your shoes," Maria called, and, again, her eyes went to the invite.

Less than an hour later, Maria and Matt left their house. They were headed toward their car when a man in a black suit approached them. "Me. Mayor. Mrs. Mayor. The man tipped his hat. "Please, follow me."

Maria and Matt looked at each other before locking hands and following the newcomer to an unmarked black Lincoln Town Car. The man opens a door in the back and Maria slid inside. There was one else in the vehicle. Matt slid in beside Maria and frowned as the door closed and locked behind him.

Once the driver was behind the wheel, he turned the key in the ignition and pulled out of the drive. For a moment, Maria wondered if this was a good idea, but she soon pushed her doubts into a silent corner of her mind.

Arriving at a large, non-descript building, surrounded by nothing but a massive parking lot, their driver pulled over. They were outside of the town limits and Matt no longer had any real sway. The di not make Maria happy.

Thai time their driver did not get out. Someone new came to open the back door. Matt got out and helped Maria. "Hello, Mayor Donovan

Mrs. Donovan. Please, turn around," the new male commanded.

"What?" Matt shook his head. ""No way."

The newcomer shrugged. "Mr. Greasely will be disappointed." He waved a hand and moved to open the door to the Town Car.

"No!" Maria held up a hand and turns around. She felt a cloth come down and over her head. "This is a safety protocol," their escort informed her.

Matt grumbled something Maria did not catch because a pair of earphones were placed over her ear. Matt took her hand and Maria followed him forward. At some point they went down what might be a hallway before getting onto an elevator. She only this last part because of the tiny jerked elevators make when pit into motion and the feeling of being pulled upward.

After what felt like an hour, the earphones and hood were removed from her head. Maria found that she, and Matt, we're in a room, surrounded by other well-dressed people as waitstaff went by with trays of hors d'oeuvres and glasses of champagne.

Maria had little time to enjoy the sights and sounds of their little spare-no-expense get together before a man of about fifty came to join them.

"Matt, I'm pleased to see that you could join us," he said with a nod and then turned to Maria. "And this must be Mrs. Donovan."

"Yes, I am." Maria smiled widely. "You are M. Greasely?"

"Please, call me Martin," he replied with a chuckle, shaking her hand. "You have no idea how happy I am that you could both make it." He waved a hand and a waiter came toward them, holding out a tray. Martin plucked up two champagne flutes and handed each of them to the Donovans. Martin took one for himself and the waiter left to mix in with the other guests.
