Covers for A Game of Thrones, I (Jon Snow) II (Daenerys Targaryen) III (Tyrion Lannister) IV (Catelyn Stark) V (Ned Stark) & A Clash of Kings, I (Arya Stark) II (Theon Greyjoy) III (Sansa Stark) IV (Davos Seaworth) V (Bran Stark), drawn by Ken Sugiwara for the Japanese paperback release of A Song of Ice and Fire.
Underrated aspect of the book is how interconnected the Stark's are to their wolves and Lady being killed literally meant that a huge part of Sansa died that died that night too.
Both figuratively and literally, I mean. Lady's death represents Sansa's future losing of herself and her identity in King's Landing, because Lady dying literally meant that a part of Sansa was dead with her. When Ned killed Lady, he killed a part of Sansa; her innocence, her dreams. This even ties back to the warg and dream stuff. Sansa's being was buried with Lady.
And like, all of the other kids had their wolves for the majority of the time. Nymeria might not have been with Arya but the bond, their being, was still there.
Sansa doesn't have that, and I really wish more people explored this aspect of her. I think it further emphasizes how utterly alone Sansa is in this new world of hers. She doesn't have her father, her family, or even her wolf.
The Hound had turned craven, she heard it said; at the height of the battle, he got so drunk the Imp had to take his men. But Sansa understood. She knew the secret of his burned face. It was only the fire he feared.
has someone ever made a fanart of the stark siblings as a flock of ravens huddling together on a branch of tree? because i feel like it must exist, we owe bran that at the very least
As someone who was disappointed in the way Daenerys and Sansa were written in the latter seasons of GOT (and the way those writing decisions still lead to antagonism between fans of both characters), I needed to edit Dany and Sansa to "Girl So Confusing." Obviously Dany is Charli XCX and Sansa is Lorde.
How these two did not end up best friends in GOT is a mystery to me (just kidding, misogyny and bad writing is not a mystery). They should have bonded over their shared life experiences and eaten lemon cakes together.
Let’s all laugh at the obtuse asshole who took time out of their day to reblog this to say this would never happen because of the watered down characterization of both women that made no sense in the first place! The very writing choices this post is critiquing! Learn to scroll! You’re not invited to our lemon cake party bc no one likes your attitude 🍋 💅🏼
Everyone's talking about how Ryan is forcing Rhaenyra to be the new Dany but not how he can't even let Alicent alone cause he's now made her seem like the new Sansa (don't get me wrong I love both Dany and Sansa). Like he can't make one single new and interesting character without making them into another character!
I swear HBO and Ryan and Co can't get that what were upset about isn't that the story isn't consistent (cause let's be honest it wasn't in GoT either in season 7 and 8) it's that they can't make new and interesting characters. If they could do that I feel like the show could be salvaged but they can't. Now I'm not saying SOME parallels isn't cool, but the way they are shoving that Rhaenyra and Dany are sooooo alike down our throats and then telling us we're just not smart enough to get the nuance of it, is what upsets me.
