Making friends is hard, i understand, but why are people so inconsistent! I just want to feed people and invite them over and talk for hours of nothing and plan for things and enjoy each other. Right now i feel like i am being used as a fun activity. Whatever, taking a deep breath. Lizard sunbathing.

I saw this on Tiktok and instantly thought of santiago and pedri, please write something short and fluffy on this 😭
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeRcB7cm/
solace ~ pedri
summary: in an eight hour road trip with her little brother and her boyfriend, y/n seems to find some solace where many would find frustration.
Tumblr media
when y/ns parents suggested going on a road trip to granada to meet her grandparents for the weekend, y/n couldn’t be anymore excited. she loved her grandparents, as cheerful and kind as they could be. they treated her and santiago with the utmost love and affection and the two returned that with immense respect.
pedri had yet to meet y/ns grandparents. she just knew that they would wholeheartedly adore pedri as much as she and santiago did, which is why she thought of bringing him along. pedri didn’t mind as he didn’t have much planned for the weekend other than training, which he was able to take off with much convincing.
the thought of an eight hour drive sounded extremely boring but the three in the back seemed to make it all the more fun - y/n sat in the middle as santiago and pedri sat on each side of her.
their trip started off well - the all conversed with each other and talked about anything that came to mind. y/ns father had also joined the conversation, occasionally cracking a few jokes here and there. santiago was telling a few of his weird school stories again, which his family had no choice but to laugh along and ignore how the little boy loved telling the same stories over and over, without realisation.
pedri found that extremely humorous and adorable - the smile on the ten year olds face made it all the more worthy.
when the second hour hit, the excitement in the atmosphere in the car had started to die down. pedri and y/n shared a pair of airpods as they both watched videos on her phone, his head on her shoulder and his arm resting around her back. y/ns parents were in their own world whilst santiago played around on his ipad.
the low hum of the radio played in the background, filling the car with its usual play of spanish songs. the beating sun filtered through the tinted windows, splashing itself onto everyone. the warm heat of it was comforting and y/n could feel the tiredness starting to spark within her.
it was hour three and the sun had finally started to settle for the day. its dying embers painted the sky in a mixture of pink and yellow, y/n took a few pictures of the beautiful sunset view over pedris body before relaxing further into her seat. his hand returned to intertwine with hers as her head rested itself on his shoulder.
she bent her leg up onto the seat to be more comfortable but the feeling of pedris warm hands on her arms and waist was enough to lull her off into sleep. she could still hear the faint play of the radio and the partial silence in the car was comforting accompanied with the sound of santiago silently praising himself every ten seconds whilst playing his game.
“go to sleep.” pedri had whispered in her ear, kissing her temple as he watched her eyes start to flutter.
she fell asleep in her boyfriends hold, her one hand curled around his bicep whilst the other one held his hand, fingers intertwined and heart content.
it was around two hours later when y/n had woken up. it was hour five of the road trip and also completely dark outside. her head slightly hurt as she lifted it off the headrest of the seat, and felt a cramp starting to form from sleeping in that one position for so long.
her body slightly ached but she felt so much more refreshed from the fatigue that had circulated her body all day. one of the small blankets was draped over her body and when she moved, the cold instantly slapped against her skin.
she reached for the hoodie that pedri had given her before the trip, wanting nothing more than to cuddle into the warmth and familiarity that his clothing engulfed her with. she sighed in satisfaction when his scent invaded her senses.
“you’re awake.” santiago said with a tired smile on his face.
it was evident that he’d been playing on his ipad the whole time she was asleep, from the darkness under his eyes where he’d been rubbing them to the ruffle of his hair.
“yes and now you should sleep. you look tired, santi.” she raised her brows at him and the little boy nodded as he finished the fruit snack he was having.
y/n then looked over at her other boy to see him on his phone, or rather attempting to be. she chuckled as she saw his head drooping where it rested on his palm, his eyes were shut, and she knew he was just ‘resting’ them.
she also knew that he was refusing to sleep just because her sleeping body was laying against his, and her heart warmed at the thought.
y/n slightly shook her boyfriend, who instantly opened his eyes and turned to her with a questioning look before he relaxed.
“you’re awake.” he smiled at her, leaning forward to press a kiss to her cheek. y/n kept his face there, letting him rest it on her shoulder as she tapped his cheek with her fingers.
“sleep, baby. we still have three hours and i know you’re tired.” she muttered so only he could hear.
“you sure?” he mumbled, already starting to get comfy.
“mhm, go to sleep cariño, ill be here.” pressing a kiss to his head, she reassured him with a little smile on her lips.
santiago had moved to the absolute corner of the seats and rested his head on his palm against the window before he decided that wasn’t comfortable at all, so he moved to rest against his older sister instead.
y/n didn’t mind as his head lay against her arm. she slightly moved pedri so that his head was in her lap instead, and his legs were comfortable on the seat.
they both engulfed her body, practically using it as a human pillow as they fell into a comforting sleep. she was wide awake now, with nothing to do but let the two next to her fall into slumber. a smile graced her lips whilst her fingers combed themselves through pedris dark hair, playing with the soft strands and delicately scratching against his scalp just the way she knew he liked.
her mother and father were silently chatting in the front, and she had about two and a half hours left until they’d be with her grandparents. the ecstatic feeling returned.
they would finally get to meet the boy that had practically swept her off her feet, the boy that slept in her lap right now looking all too innocent and peaceful, the boy that loved her baby brother more than anyone did. they would get to see the reason behind her smile everyday, and santiago’s.
her body was squished between her two boys, but all she could think about was how grateful she was to have them in her life.

A Job Unfinished
Ship: Santiago "Pope" Garcia x fem!reader
Summary: It's been days since you last saw Santiago, days after he promised he'd be back. One last (very illegal) mission in Colombia, and then he'd be yours forever. But Santiago is five days late.
Word Count:
Warnings: language, back-breaking relationship fluff, the plot of the movie is basically explained, Santiago has emotional baggage, plot-related angst
Tumblr media
☟ Continue below the fold ☟
Christ, I'm tired.
Santiago could think of nothing but his tiredness, an exhaustion that lingered so heavily he didn't think he'd ever be able to sleep again. He'd been awake too long, he'd discovered that he could push himself this far and still stay awake—he'd not even slept on the plane home.
Home was a place Santiago hadn't been in three years. His mother's country was as close as he could get to a physical home, but the woman he'd left behind in Florida with their golden retriever was true home.
It was three in the morning before he reached the apartment. He had fully expected you to be asleep, but the little light you kept on the side table was still on, and the light of the TV was glowing on the back wall, visible through the shades.
I'll have to replace those for something a little more private, he thought distantly as he unlocked the door.
You looked up immediately, at first alarmed, and then realization crossed your face.
"Santi, oh my God—"
Before you could even move off the couch, the golden—who Santiago had dubbed Lion on their first meeting—gave an excited bark and threw herself at him.
She pawed at him, placing her front paws on his shoulders.
Groaning, Santiago sank down on his sore knees, wrapping his arms around her torso and scratching.
"Hey, girl, hiya. Hi, oh, thank you," he said as she licked his face. "Ahhh, come on, Lion, relax. It's okay, I'm home now."
You had thrown off your blanket and had come to stand close by, waiting for their moment to end. Santiago struggled to push the dog off his lap and get to his feet. You took his hands helped him up, burying your face in his chest the instant he was on his feet again.
Santiago kissed the top of your head gently, cupping the back of your head with one hand. You hugged in silence, squeezing each other tightly, breathing in each other's scents.
You pushed away from him far too soon. He leaned closer, chasing your touch. You cupped his face in both your hands, smoothing your thumbs over his cheeks, wet with tears he hadn't realized had fallen.
"Oh, God, Santi," you whisper. "I thought I lost you. It was an illegal mission and I thought I lost you and I'd never get confirmation because the government wasn't backing you this time and they'd never know what happened and—" You took a deep breath. "I thought I lost you for good."
"I know, baby, I know, I'm so sorry," he whispered. He kissed your forehead. You whined, the sound barely more than a whisper, your tears falling down your cheeks in the next blink.
"Five days," you said. "It took five days more than you thought. What happened?"
Santiago hesitated. He wanted to tell you everything, wanted to just lay in your arms and tell the whole story and not care when he inevitably started to cry. But it was late. Would you really want to deal with all that?
"Santiago," you said, voice gentle. "Come on. Get out of your head. Tell us what happened." You looked down at Lion and scratched her head and she weaseled her way between you and Santiago, twisting herself between your legs. "That's what we're here for."
He shook his head. "You're not my therapist, querida, you're more than that."
"We got Lion for this reason, sweetheart. C'mon. Talk to me. I know you need to."
You guided him to the couch, sitting him down and pulling him close to your side. You pull the blanket over the both of you. It takes Lion only a second to jump back up and settle herself across both your laps.
"I remember when she could stretch all the way out and she'd still only fit in one of our laps," Santiago said softly, rubbing Lion's head. She responded with a heavy sigh. "What've you got to sigh about, not-so-little little one?"
You kissed Santi's cheek, turning his head toward you with just a light touch of your fingers to the side of his face. "It's been four, five years since we got her. She got big."
"I missed three of those years," he said, his usual frown already coming back to his face.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pressing gentle kisses to his face. Eventually, he pressed his mouth to yours, pulling you into a long, satisfied kiss. You sighed softly into him as his tongue caresses yours. He tasted of coffee and alcohol, a pleasant mix you'd come to associate with Santiago. You always knew when the mission had been difficult when he tasted like that.
Santiago huffed when you pulled away from his mouth. You ran your thumb over his lips for a moment.
"What happened out there?"
He sat back against the couch. "Too much," he said, at last. You waited, giving him all the time he needed to talk. Sure, it was nearing four in the morning, but you didn't care about your lost sleep. Your boyfriend had come home at last, and something in him had very clearly broken.
Santiago leaned close once again, placing kisses along your neck that started out gentle but soon left marks you knew would be a deep shade of purple when you woke up. You threaded your fingers through his curls, relaxing against the touch of his mouth.
"It went wrong...almost immediately," he began, after several minutes of his kisses. "We had to...take unnecessary lives. Lives we thought we could spare. Lorea's guards."
"Ah." You knew enough about the mission from Santiago's quick explanation when he'd showed up to explain what his last job would entail.
"Then we couldn't find Lorea. Or the money, at first. It was in the walls. The whole damn house. And T...Tom wanted all of it, as much as we could take. I'll admit, I wanted it all, too. I just kept thinking...we'd finally be able to afford a bigger apartment in a better part of town, I could fix your car, we'd be set for...for a long time, at least. We missed the hard out."
You startled beside him. You'd heard stories of Delta Force from before you'd met them all, before you'd started dating Santiago—back when the only ones you knew were Benny and William, your neighbors from across the street when you were kids. And you knew they never missed a hard out.
"Why?"
"The money. Greed. We just wanted more." He rubbed his forehead, grimacing. You knew he was still in his head, knew he was hating himself for every decision he'd made in the past week and a half. "We burned what we couldn't take, and drove out of there with more than we planned to take. Killed more guards on the way because we'd missed the hard out and still didn't get out before Lorea's family got back from church."
You stilled. "Santi, please tell me you didn't—"
"The family's fine. We didn't do anything to them. That was one rule I wouldn't break."
You kissed his hair. "Oh, thank God."
He nodded. "We stole too much. The helicopter couldn't take it. Went down as we reached the mountain ranges. A bunch of villagers got ahold of the money and... Tom, he..." Santiago squeezed his eyes shut. There was pain buried deep there, you could tell. Twice now he'd stumbled over Tom's name. An ominous feeling settled in your chest. "He got angry. Possessive of it. We killed a couple of the villagers, him and Frankie and me." He sniffled. "We paid for their deaths and the mules we borrowed from the village. Made as much of the trek as we could with the mules, then cut 'em lose and strung all the bags together to carry it ourselves. Over a hundred bags, carried by five men." He chuckled, the sound full of self-loathing. "God, I was a fucking idiot."
You kissed his temple. "Hey. I hate it when you say that, you know that."
"You haven't heard the worst of it yet."
"Then tell me."
"We didn't notice we were being followed for days. I don't know how none of us knew, but we didn't know until it was too late, until T..." He paused, clenching his jaw tightly. You knew what he was going to say before he said it. "Until Tom was shot."
It felt like all the air had been sucked out of you. Tom had never been your favorite guy on the spec ops team, but he was the one with a family.
"He's gone. Tom's gone. Instant. Benny and Ironhead got into this huge fight about it, and I...I kinda lost my head after that. Couldn't think straight. We lugged the money and his body as far as we could, but then...we knew we couldn't get it all home with us, so..." He sighed. "We left it in a fucking valley. Left it there to rot and get covered in snow and never be seen again." He laughed, the sound painful and mirthless, tears squeezing from the corners of his eyes as he did. "And Benny took the coordinates. I didn't know at the time, but they're sitting in my pocket now, and it's practically burning a hole through my pants."
You cradled him in your arms. "We'll worry about that later. Not now, not tonight. Not until you've had some proper rest and have a clear head. Why don't we get you—"
"I'm not done yet," he whispered.
You nodded. "Okay."
"We only took money that could fit in our packs and then we took Tom home. Five days late, because we had to walk the whole thing." He covered his eyes with one hand. "We walked through the fucking Andes. We're insane. God, we're insane." He rubbed his face. "And then we left all the money to Tom. To his family." Finally, he looked at you for the first time since he'd told his story. "I can't even face his girls. Molly'd kill me. His daughters would kill me. But at least they can pay to go to college."
You thumbed away the tears in his eyes. "Santi, I want you to listen to me, okay?"
He nodded.
"It's not your fault."
"I offered them the job, I brought them down there, I—"
"Santiago. Listen."
He quieted.
"You know how jobs like these go. There are things you can control, and things you can't. The guy who followed you? That wasn't something you could control. I know for sure you did your best to keep everyone safe. I also know how Delta Force can be. You're all headstrong and full of yourselves and you get so angry with each other so easily, especially when money's involved. Especially when it's something so near to you." You took his hand in yours, squeezing it reassuringly. "This mattered to you. The boys knew that. It's why they agreed to it. It didn't go the way it was supposed to, but you've all worked similar jobs before. You all knew the risks, even if this time was a little...riskier."
Santiago buried his head in your shoulder. "What you were worried about. Losing me in an illegal mission. It's what Molly's going through right now. That's on me."
You hugged him tight to your chest. Lion whined as she was squished between your bodies, shoving her nose between you and up to lick Santiago's chin. Through his tears, he let out a small laugh.
"Hi, girl. I know, I know I'm upset. I know you just wanna help."
She wriggled, her dog-smile appearing at the playful tone in Santiago's voice that contrasted his words, the voice he always used to speak to her.
Lion flopped against his chest, rubbing against him and urging him to pet her.
"See? She says it's not your fault. She says death isn't something you can control, Santiago."
"She's a good therapy dog, but I don't think she's saying that," he said, fixing you with his sad stare. "I'm pretty sure it's just you."
You kissed his temple again. "One day, you'll realize I'm right. You'll admit one day that you can't control everything, try as you might."
"I got him killed," Santiago whispered.
"You didn't pull the trigger." He gave you a look. "Come on, Santi, let's get you to bed. You've been through a lot, and you need a clear head to deal with it all."
You stood and pulled him off the couch with you. Lion followed you down the hallway and waited outside the bathroom while you pulled Santiago's clothes off, the same ones he'd been wearing for days as he and the boys trekked through the Andes, and got him into a quick shower. You waited with Lion while he showered and dried himself off.
You tugged him into bed and curled up in his arms. Lion jumped up and curled up at your feet.
"Feel any better?" you whispered, tracing your fingers across his face.
"A bit," he admitted. He tightened his hold on your torso. "I've missed this. Holding you. Actually being in the same bed."
You hummed your agreement. "Don't you ever go away for three years again."
He brushed your hair out of your face and tucked it behind your ear and kissed you softly. "I told you—that was my last job. I'm never leaving again."
"I hope to God you're right." You snuggled closer, kissing him one last time. "Get some sleep, Santi. You need it."
"I know," he whispered.
But his thoughts turned, again, to the paper William had shoved in his hand, still sitting in the pocket of the pants on his bathroom floor, and he knew he wasn't completely done.
Delta Force never missed a hard out. And they also never left a job unfinished.

For the Longest Time: Bonus Chapter (Laci and Santi)
Santiago Garcia x Lacina Dumas.
Summary: Laci is supposed to go see a movie with Ben. Supposed to. A peak inside how Santia and Laci are doing.
Warnings: Just Benny being shitty. Fighting. Yelling.
****************
Laci finished pouring extra oat milk into her pumpkin spiced latte, popping the lid on it. Usually, Laci didn’t have more than one cup of coffee a day as it made her anxious, but tonight she was staying up. “Hey baby.” She said to Santi as he cleaned up after dinner. “I’m going to sit on the porch while I wait for Benny.”
Today, Benny and Laci were going to the midnight premiere of Five Nights At Freddies, a movie based on a video game they loved. Laci spent hours watching Benny play it or watching youtubers play through and they were thrilled the movie was finally out.
“Alright, would you like me to sit outside with you?” It was getting dark, and Laci didn’t like the dark.
“No, I’m okay, I’ll just use the screen door, okay?”
“Okay baby, just let me know when you leave.”
“Of course!”
Laci opened the main wood door and just had the screen door closed, that way Santi could hear her swinging on their porch swing. She was doing much better, making improvements all the time in what she was capable of, and Santi’s heart swelled with pride thinking of how far she’d come. He loved her, he loved her so fucking much it hurt sometimes…
That’s what made this rough patch so rough.
The two of them just haven’t quite been the same the last few months, and Santi just didn’t know why. It wasn’t bad, not compared to what Santi had seem between other couples, but it was unlike them. Santi wasn’t sure what he was doing wrong. He was certain there was something wrong; he wasn’t saying he was blameless. In fact, he was sure whatever was happening was his fault, not hers. He just… couldn’t pin point it.
And just what was happening? Sometimes, especially after spending the day with their friends, Laci would snap at him. She’d be short, sarcastic, maybe even a little rude… and he wasn’t sure why. She had always been his sweet girl, so kind and empathetic… but she wasn’t doing it to anyone else, so it must be his fault. He was trying harder to take care of her, to be there for her, but that just seemed to irritate her. Giving her space made her sad and nervous. Santi felt like he couldn’t do anything right. When he tried talking to her about it, or suggesting he go to one of her therapy appointments, she just shut down. Couldn't get a word out of her, verbal or signed.
But he loved her, and he was still certain she loved him. There was not a doubt in his head that she loved him. So they were going to be okay. The reality of it was that Laci had been through 20 years of trauma that had only ended last year, and this was not something that would go away. She was going to have hard times, and he was going to be there for her. Nothing mattered to him more than Laci did.
It wasn’t all bad. In fact, it was mostly good, even still. They had been having a fun summer, and enjoying planning their wedding together. That made him happy, the fact she was so excited to be his wife made him fall more and more in love. It was going to be simple, in their backyard. Neither of them had any biological family left. Benny was her man of honor, Jana a bridesmaid, On Santi’s side, Will would be a groomsman and Frankie his best man. Rosie would be their flower girl, of course. For guests Laci would invite a few coworkers, Santi a couple military buddies. He’d sent an invite to Tom’s family, but doubted he’d get a  reply. They’d invited Marc and Bahar, friend’s they’d made on their trip to New York and of course Ben’s girlfriend, Alice and Will’s… Well, whatever Lorelei was.
She was still the primary source of joy in his life, someone who made him laugh, someone who comforted him, someone who cared for him and he cared for in return… And she was hot as all hell. The perfect women.
Laci storm inside, slamming the screen door.
“Hey munequita, you forget-”
“I’m not going.”
Santi set down the dishes he was putting in the dishwasher. “What? Why?” They’ve had tickets for a month.
“It’s fine, he just couldn’t make it, okay?” Her lip quivered and tears blurred in her eyes as she moved to their bedroom.
Santi followed after. He felt defensive of her; Benny had canceled 5 times this month for things he was supposed to do with Laci. “He couldn’t have figured that out before? He’s supposed to be picking you up!”
“Just drop it!” Laci slammed the door to their bedroom, and when he went to open it, he found it locked.
“Lace!?” He said with a panic, pulling at the handle. “Laci are you okay?”
“Leave me alone!”
“What’s been going on with you!” Santi didn’t shout, but his voice was raised to project it through the door. “Why don’t you talk to me anymore!”
There was no response. Frustrated, but not wanting to invade her privacy especially in his high emotional state, Santi moved into the living room and pulled out his phone. He pulled up Ben’s contact.
“Hell-”
“What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Benny sighed on the other end. “I knew you’d call.”
“Damn right I’m calling! Why did you cancel again? Benny this is twice this week.”
“Santi just drop it.” Benjamin didn’t sound like himself either. He sounded tired. “I’m… sick, okay?”
Now that was bullshit. If Benny was sick, Laci would be asking him to drive her to CVS for medicine and going over to take care of him. She wouldn’t be crying, she’d be fretting with worry.
“Oh fuck off. What’s really going on?”
“Nothing, I’m just sick.”
“You’re making her cry, Ben!”
Beep beep, went his phone. Benny hung up.
Santi scrubbed his face, exhausted. Something had happened between them. Benny and Laci had been inseparable since the day they found her, Benny being the one who first got her to talk. They had been best friends ever since, but the last few months it seemed he was pulling away. From all of them, but especially Laci. Santi could tell how much it hurt her.
When he went back to the door, he heard soft crying below. Following the sound, Santi figured out she was laying on the floor as she cried. Santi laid down on his side.
“I’m right here, Lace. Whenever you need me.”
A small set of fingers peaked out from the crack under the door, and Santi gently entangled his with hers. They laid there for a while as Laci sobbed, Santi’s heart hurting for his fiance, wanting to hold her proper.
After a little, she spoke. “Alice doesn’t want Benny alone with me anymore…”
Of course. Of course it had to do with that bitch, Alice.
“Can I hold you munequita?
Shuffling came from her side and Santiago stood up. When the door opened, and he saw her red blotchy face, Santi took her in his arms tightly.
Laci explained that Benny had been canceling because Alice had an issue with how much they hung out, that Alice accused him of cheating. She thought it was insane to go to a dark movie theater alone with her. Since the movie was sold out, she couldn’t go with them and got mad. Alice laid down a hard and fast rule that Laci and Benny couldn’t be alone together anymore. Santi was furious at Ben for being such a coward, for backing down so easily over his best friend, but this wasn’t the time. Laci’s head rested on his chest and Santiago played with her hair. It had gotten longer. She wanted length for the wedding. For his part, Santi had grown out his beard. He’d shave it for the wedding, but right now she liked the salt and pepper facial hair.
“Come on, let me take you to Five Nights at Freddy’s.” He said, coaxing her to look up at him. “If we leave now, we can still make it with all the adds they play.”
She looked a little confused. “You don’t like horror movies…”
“Oh sweetheart…” Taking her face in both his hands, he kissed her forehead before looking down at her pretty, wet, blue eyes. “I’d do anything for you. Absolutely anything. You have to know that, don’t you? Going to a movie is nothing, not when I’d get the moon if you asked.”
She dodged his eyes for a moment. “I don’t want you to watch something you hate.”
He swore up and down he wouldn’t hate it, horror just isn’t usually a genre he liked. Laci promised to make it up to him by letting him show her an Army movie. She’d even allow him to talk during the whole movie to tell her how unrealistic it was. In return, Laci explained all the lore of FNAF before the movie. They made it just in time.
That night as they lay in bed, Laci still wired from the coffee and Santi wired from the movie (how did she and Ben fall asleep to those movies?), Santi held her in his arms as he kissed through her hair.
“Do you still want to marry me?” Laci asked abruptly.
This shocked Santi enough to make him pause before turning on the bedroom light and sitting up.
The lamp illuminated behind her, making her big ears that had hair tucked behind them stand out even more, but the worry-stricken expression was evident.
“Baby… Laci, mi amor, why would you ask me that?” He was more confused than ever.
Tears welled up in her eyes again. “I know I’ve been… I’ve been mean lately… I don’t know why but it’s like the more I trust to stop the more frustrated I get… I just feel so angry lately and I’ve been taking it out on you and it’s not fair.”
“Oh, my perfect girl…” Santi rushed to hold her, drawing in her body to his arms in a tight squeeze. “Of course I still want to marry you, you are my joy, you are my greatest source of pride, you’re my heart and soul. Baby I love you, I adore you, and I want to spend the rest of our lives waking up next to you.”
“But, I haven’t been nice.” She sobbed, wetting his shirt in her tears.
“You don’t have to be nice all the time. You’ve been through things I can never imagine. Youre going to be angry sometimes.”
“But I shouldn’t take it out on you!” Laci insisted.
Santi wanted to say it was okay, he wanted to tell her she could… but that’s not what she needed.
“We’ll work on it together, baby, okay? You and me. Like we always do. You and me.”
Santiago let her cry into his arms for a while and she wore herself out, getting tired enough to lay down again and try to sleep. He kept her close.
As she drifted off to sleep, Laci kissed his bearded jaw. “You and me. It’s gonna be okay.” She sounded like she was reassuring herself. “Everything is gonna be okay.”

: ( they are struggling. But it's normal for couple to have some downs, and at least they are aware now. Laci struggling with losing Ben, who is supposed to be her man of honor. Benny.... come on.

The Wends- A Better Will (We Were Never Being Boring- digital single)
Tumblr media
This is the band formerly known as Smile who changed their name a year or so ago. They hail from Italy and released an excellent record last year in It’s Here Where You Fall.
This new song, “A Better Will” picks right up where that record left off with some terrific jangly guitar playing (courtesy of Hamilton Santia) while vocalist Michele Sarda (a dude) arches and bends his vocals with the melodies and the song rocks and soars at the same time. The rhythm section of Mariano Zaffarano on bass and Francesco Musso on drums are workin’ overtime and the whole song comes together really nicely.
I hear a little Nada Surf, Saturnine and the more rockin’ REM stuff so they’re in good company.
This is a nice teaser, but now I’m jonesing for a new full-length!
