Addendum Mickey Mouse was created to replace Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and may have also been inspired by Van Beuren's Milton Mouse

Addendum II
Steamboat Willie was attached to the film Gang War, which is now unfortunately lost to time

Johnny Thunders during his Gang War era performing at The Ritz in NYC, August 1980, as captured by Herbert Tinz.
After the disbandment of the New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers and following some drug-fuelled solo recording and gigs with various of his rock'n'roll buddies, Johnny Thunders moved to Detroit with his wife Julie in 1979 and teamed up with Philippe Marcade, former frontman of the Senders, and the recently released from prison Wayne Kramer of the MC5 to form the ill-fated Gang War. To quote Kramer: “We had an expression that we used to say about Johnny Thunders. We used to say that he was always 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory', because everything would be set up perfectly and Johnny would fuck it up”.
According to Phillipe Marcade, the only cheap place their manager found for them to record in Ann Arbor was a small home studio where jingles were recorded for commercials:
“So we show up and the owner sees this bunch of fuckers come out of the car. You know, Johnny in a ripped T-shirt, all fucked up, and the owner asked to see everybody's ID. Johnny said, 'Fuck this crap, man, let's go somewhere else." So the manager starts negotiating with the guy from the studio. He would tell him, “Are you crazy? This is Johnny Thunders from the New York Dolls." "No, it's not him, it's not, and don't try to lie to me, because my son upstairs is a fan of the New York Dolls, and I can find out right now." So he tells his son to come downstairs, a big fat boy in his shorts, who looks around and says, “It IS! That's Johnny Thunders!" So they got their mom, they got the Instamatic camera out and they're all posing and Johnny's all fucked-up, hahaha. Then we went into the studio and Johnny was like flat as hell. 'But he can't sing!' Then he kept asking me why Johnny kept making trips to the bathroom. I said "He drinks a lot of water." At the end of the session, the owner came up to me, I could tell that he was feeling bad about something and he had a clean T-shirt in his hand. He told me: “I feel really bad, because my son's with a big star, but Johnny must be very poor, he's got that t-shirt, it's old and ripped, there's holes in it., holey T-shirt. Give him that so he can at least have a clean T-shirt to wear." "Please Kill Me: the Uncensored Oral History of Punk"
By 1980, JT and WK had both returned to their drug habits and Gang War kept playing gigs as a way to get the money needed to buy dope -it would be either that or JT fucking his bandmates over. They lasted a little less than a year, making this another story of a supergroup that could have been but was not.
