Touch Chesi Chudu Review – A well-disguised horror film!
Actor Ravi Teja is now 50years old!! And yet shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The energetic acting and the well-maintained physique even rivals that of the youngsters in their prime. But it’s been a long time since he has done something remarkable or noteworthy on the screen.  Monotonous commercial masalas are churned endlessly, and the tag “Mass Maharaja” ensures he caters only the mass audience. Is Touch Chesi Chudu any different?

Tributes to Shamrao Kamble, the unsung music maestro of Hindi cine music industry, on his birth anniversary today.
Shamrao Kamble was an eminent and excellent music arranger who had worked with almost all the music directors in 60s and 70s. Basically a Harmonium player, he was also a master in organ and vibraphone playing. He was a favourite arranger of music directors Laxmikant -Pyarelal, Roshan, Rajesh Roshan, Jaidev and Sudhir Phadke. He was the melody section conductor in Laxmikant-Pyarelal's music and worked with them throughout their career. His music arrangements in films like 'Mujhe Jeene Do', 'Prem Parbat', 'Gharonda', 'Reshma aur Shera' (with Jaidev), 'Anokhi Raat' (Roshan), '’Kunwara Baap’, ‘Julie' (Rajesh Roshan) and the hit Marathi album 'Ritu Hirwa' was amazing.
He had also composed music with the veteran violinist Prabhakar Jog for the English film 'Birbal My Brother' under the name 'Shyam-Prabhakar'. We have listened to his unbeatable harmonium in the songs like 'baai mi wikat ghetala sham", 'thakale re nandalala"(‘jagachya pathivar’), "jaane kahan gayi" (‘dil apna aur preet paraai’) and organ in "yashomati maiya se bole nandalala" (‘satyam shivam sundaram’. . Very few know that Shamrao himself was a brilliant composer as well. He used to compose Bhajans and once on listening to the Bhajans he composed, music director Pyarelal asked him “Shamraoji if you can compose the tunes so nicely, why don’t you think to be a full-fledged music director for films ?” He just said “I am more interested in the Music Arrangements..” Pyarelal asked him jokingly, “so shall I use your compositions ?” smiling, within a second he said, “Pyareji, my all work is for you… you may use whenever you wish..!” I am very much sure that if Shamraoji had taken music-direction is a career, he would have definitely achieved the position in the list of most talented and successful composers in Indian music field," said Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, the ace music director.
"His knowledge and devotion towards music was so deep, that he even used to guide or suggest the top artists like Rais Khan (sitar), Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute), Shivkumar Sharma (santoor) about the playing during the recordings. He also used to express that a particular music piece would be more effective if improvised in a different manner etc. And the greatness of those artists also, who used sportingly accept Shamraoji's suggestions and appreciate the same.. This was only because they were fully aware of Shamraoji’s knowledge and capacity. And also this was the reason that we had given total freedom to him in our work also," said Pyarelal.
In his early career, Shamrao had worked as a notation-writer. He was the one who wrote down the notation for Dinanath Mangeshkar's natya sangeet (Chandrika hi janu, Vilopale madhu meelanat ya, Yuwati mana etc).
He was well-versed in western idiom too. He brought sophistication to the music pieces of Sudhir Phadke, Roshan and Jaidev. His speciality was reading the lyrics and composing music interludes to set the mood for the next stanza. His interludes for 3 stanzas used to be all different (e,g. Jo waada kiya nibhana padega). He completed Roshan's 'Anokhi Raat' in his absence when Roshan died halfway through the movie.
He assisted Rajesh Roshan in his first two movies 'Kunwara Baap' and 'Julie', and young 'Shridhar Phadke' for his 'Rutu Hirwaa' album and continued even later.
A producer once came to Jaidev asking him to score for Gharonda, but asked him to give music like R.D.Burman. Jaidev refused, but Shamrao said "You just say yes, we will see what to do". He is the one who transformed Jaidev's difficult tunes into modern rhythm and orchestration, using strings, transichord and whistle effectively. After the movie was released, Jaidev rang him up "Arre ye tune kya kar diya? My music is so successful, now everyone wants music like that. I have to attach your name to mine, too".
Shamrao was the senior partner in Shyam Kamble & Party (along with Laxmikant and Pyarelal who were kids) performing at the Ganeshotsav programmes.
Shamrao Kamble was one such soul who has contributed endlessly to the music industry. For many he was a guide and father figure in the music industry. And more than all this he was a great great human being. So modest and down to earth for all his amazing achievements..
Shamrao Kamble passed away on away on 17th October 2008 at Dombivli due to a Brain Stroke. He was 83.
Although the void created by him can never be filled, his art and work will remain in everyone’s memory eternally.
May the noble soul of Shamrao Kamble rest in eternal peace.

Indian Rupee hits 9-yr high, raises export worries
The rupee hit a nine-year high of Rs39.875 against the US dollar on Thursday, breaching a psychological barrier of Rs40, fuelling government concerns about India’s continued ability to export and the potential to hurt key sunrise sectors, such as technology services. So far this year, the rupee has gained 9.7% against the dollar, rising a hefty 67 paise in just the past three days after Thursday’s 32 paise rise. The last time the rupee was under Rs40 was on 13 May 1998, when it had ended at Rs39.85 to a dollar.

After the US Federal Reserve cut US interest rates by 50 basis points, causing the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex to break through the 16,000 mark on Wednesday—it gained 25 points to reach 16,347.95 on Thursday—expectations of higher capital flow into India have surged.
The interest rate differential between Indian rates and those prevailing in the US, of around 300 basis points, is also providing an arbitrage opportunity, triggering a further step-up in foreign inflows.

“This is a new situation and needs a new response,” said commerce minister Kamal Nath. “Export is the engine of growth and we have to ensure that growth is not affected. We are going to look at it immediately.”
Nath had previously indicated that the $160 billion (Rs6.4 trillion) export target for the current fiscal may have to be scaled down.
Despite the Sensex’s rise, shares of sofware and tech services exporting companies fell as investors bailed out of companies such as Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Infosys Technologies Ltd and Wipro Technologies Ltd.

Exporters have already been complaining that the rising rupee was eroding their margins, especially in some traditional services such as gems and jewellery and textiles, as well as new growth segments such as software services.
“It does impact our margins. It will be felt in the subsequent quarters,” said R. Rajesh Ramaiah, corporate treasurer for Wipro, India’s third largest information technology firm by revenue. According to him, Wipro had covered for fluctuations of the rupee against the dollar, the currency it bills many of its customers in, for the second quarter to September, but would see margins affected with the Indian currency dropping below Rs40.

Indraneel Ganguli, vice-president, global marketing and communications, Satyam Computer Services Ltd, said the rupee appreciation would not have a significant impact on the company’s financials since it has been efficiently hedging its dollar earnings.

Remembering Anand Bakshi Sahab on his 15th death anniversary.
Anand Bakshi (Bakhshi Anand Prakash Vaid) was born in Rawalpindi, now in Pakistan, on 21 July 1930. His ancestors were Mohyal Brahmins from Kurree, near Rawalpindi, and had their origins in Kashmir. His mother, Sumitra, died when he was five years old. Bakshi's family migrated to India (Delhi) on 2 October 1947, in the aftermath of the partition, when he was 17 years old. The family arrived in Delhi, via a Dakota aircraft, and then migrated to Pune, then Meerut and settled in Delhi finally.
Bakshi was fond of writing poetry since his youth, but he did this mostly as a private hobby. In a 1983 interview with Doordarshan, Bakshi recounted that after his initial studies, he joined the Indian Army, where due to a paucity of time, he could only write occasionally. He continued to write poetry whenever time permitted, and used his songs and lyrics in local programmes related to his troop. He worked in the Army for many years and simultaneously tried to market his songs in the Mumbai film world.
Anand Bakshi came to Hindi films to make a name for himself in writing and singing but ended up becoming more successful in writing lyrics. He got his break writing songs in a Brij Mohan's film titled, "Bhalaa Aadmi", 1958, acted by Bhagwan Dada. He wrote 4 songs in this film. His first song in this film was "Dharti Ke Laal Na Kar Itna Malaal" which was recorded on 9 Nov 1956. In his own voice on All India Radio interview
After writing for few movies from 1956 onwards, he first found success in 1962, with Mehendi Lagi Mere Haath, which was produced by (LimeLight), Music Kalyanji & Anandji, Music Pub-HMV/Saregama. Bakshi later made another mark for himself writing a quawalli for the 1962 film Kala Samundar, the song was "Meri Tasveer Lekar Kya Karoge Tm". He got his real big breakthroughs in 1965 with Himalaya Ki God Mein, and a huge breakthrough again in 1965 with the super hit film Jab Jab Phool Khile, starring Shashi Kapoor; and yet again in 1967 with the super hit movie Milan (starring Sunil Dutt). These six hit films within a decade of his entry into films cemented his status as a lyrics writer of immense caliber. He went on to work as a lyricist of over 3500 songs and 638 films in his career.
He got his first break as singer in a film directed by Mohan Kumar's Mom Ki Gudiya(1972). The first song he sang was a duet "Baaghon mein bahaar aayi hothon pe pukaar aayi", along with Lata Mangeshkar for music composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. He also sang the solo " Main dhoondh raha tha sapnon mein" from the same film. He also sang songs in 4 other films: Sholay (1975) where he sang the quawwali "Chand Sa Koi Chehera" along with Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Bhupinder, the song was released only on the vinyl but not in the feature film; Maha Chor (1976); Charas (1976); and, Balika Badhu (1976). Anand Bakshi’s was widely associated with music Composers such as Laxmikant Pyarelal, R D Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, SD Burman, Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan and Anand-Milind and his songs have been sung by all the top singers as also other singers like Shamshad Begum, Ila Arun, Khursheed Bawra, Amirbai Karnataki, Sudha Malhotra and more. He is known to have worked with more than one generation of music composers.
