Looks like the blue Inkling was saved by a really close call. Back home Blue goes....

Character Headcanons: Octoling Agent 3 (Neo Agent 3)

Since this is about the new Agent 3, this will contain some spoilers for Splatoon 3.

I wanted both new Agent 3s to have a specific cultural background, like how Deep Cut clearly has coded ethnicities (ex. Frye being coded as South Asian/Indian). For Neo Agent 3, I decided that he should be Haitian-Japanese; as a result, his name is Japanese.

The nickname he goes by is Shion (Kanji: 詩音, Katakana: シオン), which means “poetry sound” in Japanese. His real name is Minato Takowasa (Katakana: タカワソ ミナト), so his full name is Minato "Shion" Takowasa! Minato means "harbour" in Japanese, and takowasa is a Japanese dish that is made from raw octopus and wasabi.

His last name being Takowasa is based on DJ Octavio's Japanese name (DJ General Takowasa). I like the headcanon that Octoling Agent 3 is related to DJ Octavio.

If you're wondering, the Katakana is there because Katakana is how Octarian is written in the Japanese version of Splatoon; both Marina and DJ Octavio have text in Katakana in order to imply a different accent from Inklings, according to Inkipedia.

Shion uses he/him pronouns and any terms. He's butch and dresses like a dad.

He has a huge interest in music, and has made several songs for fandoms he was in. As of recently, he's been producing original music online.

Continuing from the last point: Because of how common it is to remix Calamari Inkantation, Shion has a small distaste for it. He also prefers Fresh Start, since he thinks it has more remixing potential.

He was mute until he was seven, so he often stutters over his words. The stuttering intensifies when he needs to talk to multiple people at once.

Continuing from the last point: Shion now speaks multiple languages, such as Inklish, Octarian, Inklish Sign Language, and Octarian Sign Language. Whenever he has a non-verbal day, he defaults to Octarian Sign Language.

He likes to fidget with stuff when he's nervous, which often leads to Yeong (Agent 3 II) having her hair braided by him. Smallfry also gets its hair played with if Yeong isn't around.

He was always told he had a resemblance to his grandfather, but he never met the guy. After saving the world, Shion had a conversation with him.

Shion was raised between Mt. Nantai and Octo Valley, but was moved near a Salmonid Swim Zone after the events of Splatoon. This Swim Zone was where he would meet Yeong and Smallfry, where they would become an inseparable trio.

Due to his face markings and general humanoid appearance, O.R.C.A. likes him more than Yeong and Smallfry. He is completely unaware of this, as O.R.C.A. barely changes its behavior towards him.

Ight so for a while now I've been brainstorming some ideas for some new Splatoon ocs and stuff mainly because I plan to have the Splat 'Em All gang to go their seperate ways after Splatoon 3 and into the next Splatoon game (which I'll refer to as Splatoon Future until we get an official name for the next game; I don't like refering to the next Splatoon as Splatoon 4. It just doesn't have the same ring to it like 2 & 3 does) 'cause they're growin' up and stuff (they're still friends after S3 though don't worry) (also Hope and Anyo are still together post S3). Now I'm not gonna show these wip ocs' designs just yet, I will share what I got for them so far...

Before the new ones, there's this one oc from the Splat 'Em All gang that I wanna bring into the next chapter of the Splat 'Em All universe story...

Okay, so basically some time before Splat 'Em All splits up, Kandi, now 14 years old, decides they want to start their own crew (oh also when Kandi became 13 years old they realized they were non-binary so not to confuse y'all but I'll use she/her pronouns when refering to 10-12 year old Kandi and use they/them when refering to Kandi when they're 13 and older), so they move away from April and Annie's apartment and go elsewhere in Inkopolis (or wherever Splatoon Future takes place). Eventually, they find some new crew members and finally creates their own lil' team like Splat 'Em All did. Kandi dual wields splatana wipers in Splatoon Future and has a special technique they invented themself that can cause a lot of damage to their enemies.

Fun fact: Nicky was originally an attempt at making a Splatoon-ified version of Zatz from Maya and the Three but I liked the design so much I made Nicky a seperate OC.

Species: inkling (dana octopus squid)

Main: Mint Decavitator

Looks like an inktoling but is biologically a full inkling (basically in the Splat 'Em All universe, Dana Octopus Squid inklings evolved during the Great Turf War to look a bit like octolings to better infultrate Octarian bases and try not to get killed by Octarian soldiers in the process)

Has vitiligo

Likes play fighting with her friends but spares no mercy for enemies

Likes punk outfits that she can move around in easily for fighting

Thrill-seeking, energetic, can have quite the temper

Her eyes and hands light up when fighting (they'll blink when Kaia is getting ready to throw hands or is getting angry)

Joined Kandi's crew after having a turf war against Kandi and Nicky (she was impressed by their skills)

Battle style: Nothing particularly special, however he is a solid player, fast, accurate and good at reading foes. A very reliable member that’s good at adapting to nearly anything.

Species: Veined Octopus

Physical des: Somewhat tall, thin, but also has a clear athletic build since he did a lot of work as a soldier and also in turf. He’s still soft around the edges though. Looks slightly feminine, but that isn’t much noticeable first glance. His eyes are the many hues of the sky, and has pupils and mask is a bright yellow. Height: 179cm (5’9”) Weight: 59kg (130lbs)

Personality des: Very calm and a bit melancholy, however keeps an optimistic mind and always tries to appreciate things even in the darkest of times. He is very nice and helpful to others, despite him keeping distance to most people. He has very few special people in his life that he holds very dear to him, almost to the point of unhealthy possessive nature. Kinda tired, but still has a spark of life in his eyes left unextinguished. He still has distant dreams and has buried passion he seldom lets out.

General story: His past is a hazy blur, however Sora used to be a very optimistic kid with the dreams of being a hero. He always dreamed of saving Octovalley and becoming a soldier in the Octarian army. When he was accepted into the army, his world view quickly changed, easily burrowing his dreams in the ground, and smoldering his imagination. After learning more and accepting the invitations of another agency, he worked for a cause he believed is more just. Currently he lives on the surface leaving his grim past behind and trying to start fresh. Is currently the caretaker of his little brother, Fin.

Family: His blood family is unknown. Has a (non blood related) little brother named Fin that lives with him on the surface. Trivia:

-Really good with fabrics and clothing, would make a nice tailor. He used to make clothes for small RP props like capes and tunics in his earlier life.

-Likes writing a lot. Although he doesn’t do it often, he constantly likes to write novels about cute adventure stories.

-has a plethora of graphic novels. They are scattered throughout his room (which is not very tidy in all respects). He also likes reading adventure novels.

-Really good at cooking. Specializes in great experimental dishes with natural ingredients. His food is often very natural or earthy in feel and taste, and is great at cooking with what he is given.

-Always wears gloves. Although he doesn’t have anymore feelings of discomfort left from being a soldier, the gloves and idea of leaving fingerprints is still an unconscious habit.

-It’s hard to get him mad or scared, but if that were to happen his tentacles flare out and turn a deep red.

-has old small cosplay props from when he was little. Has a very worn and soft piece of fabric that acts like a cape. He has passed the legacy down to his little brother.

-Was apparently named Sora because his eyes are the color of the surface’s blue sky
