For all the discourse on Hamiltons portrayal of slave owners and it’s beloved status among weird types of people I think it’s weird to just roll over and cede it as Liberal given the central theme is: That Black and Brown people would be totally justified in violently overthrowing the US government, and doing so would be completely in the spirit of the deified American Revolution.

#this is not a joke I believe this is the major theme of Hamilton #Hamilton justifies armed Revolution as long as it is thoughtful about how hit wants to build the world after #Hamilton frames hip hop and black revolutionaries as keeping in this spirit of totally justified rebellion #say what you will about it’s hagiography monsters or the American Revolution #Hamilton glorifies violently burning down the system and the labor it takes to imagine better futures #that’s not Liberal #it’s not intrinsically leftist #but that’s why people liked it before llm became a Disney product #Hamilton #Lin Manuel Miranda #farmer refuted is in the backdrop of furgeson #LMM is a corny lib #but libs often have socialists in their brain that write for them even if they don’t live those principles
