Honestly, the first 2 paragraphs (before the cut) work perfectly as a blurb in this case. This was absolutely lovely. (Just don't ask me about titles XD)

awww, thank you. And titles I have finally sort of beaten, because I have (arbitrarily) decided to use e.e. cummings poems for all my Shadowhunters fic. It is pretentious as fuck, but he gives me Malec feels SO WHATEVER... and also wow, so much less stressful. And I actually remember which one means which fic, which is us... not always the case when I get AO3 emails on my other fic.

Blurbs and tags are still awful. Though I did sort of go with a quote for this one. I think it works? idk. I cannot do an elevator pitch, reason 371938 why I am not a professional writer :D

Personally, I'm handling the announcement with moments of sadness followed by moments of rage + Freeform needs to drop EVERYTHING MALEC RELATED from their social media and also never mention Pride Month again. I'd feel slightly better if they weren't still trying to use Shadowhunters to appear "a little forward" >_>

well. to be fair to Freeform’s social media, the kind of stuff they’re putting out for Pride is all stuff that has to be planned and arranged in advance, so there’s no way anyone doing that knew that the show was being cancelled, because Freeform didn’t tell them. (Probably because they were hoping they could come to some sort of deal and wouldn’t have to cancel.)

It’s still really tacky and someone needs to apologize, but that part’s not intentional.

I really really like Underhill. And you know what? I know plenty of truly kind people like him in real life, so why can’t we have a character who simply is a good man and finds himself in a position to be helpful and kind to Alec and actually is? ...and I wonder if Caterina will be that person for Magnus at some point? Seems appropriate, and I believe she did set him straight a bit in the books, maybe in CofHF?

I do hope for more Catarina, and Underhill, because neither Alec nor Magnus have much in the way of FRIENDS and one person cannot your entire social/support structure make

I mean, at least Alec’s got his family? Magnus is SO isolated though. We get little bits of things, hints at relationships with other Downworlds, but none of them seem really close (except for Cat), and mostly it’s just him.

I really can’t express my appreciation for the fact that Magnus first noticed those long legs. I may have had to take a moment.

honestly, like. Matthew Daddario is consistently dressed in things that emphasize his legs, and he leans a lot, and I think Alec has taken his shirt off more than any other character and it is endlessly hilarious and I enjoy how often Magnus just sort of stands there going ok then.

tho I am still mad about the existence of Alec’s eyelashes. like. how dare he.

Not to butt in but it's really quite remarkable how *contagious* Shadowhunters proves in its quoestionable charm. I've inflicted it on at least five people who were not otherwise inclined to cheesy cable fantasy, and somehow it worked.

Where's Alec??? I don't know what it says about me but I put on some sad music to read this and it was great. The funeral hurt. I love the Jace & Magnus dynamic. The shape of the nose/shadows of the face through the petals & cloth?? Omg. And then later when the family is just waiting for Alec to step in. Ouch.

Honestly, the bit where they’re all waiting for Alec was one of those scenes I knew I was working towards even before I had a clue what this fic was going to turn into. Because he is the one who always does that, always kneels down for the children, no one else ever has to, even if they wanted to do so, he’s right there first. 

and then I hurt myself when I finally got to write it

I’m sorry you’re distressing yourself but if this is Malec related, it sounds like something I CANNOT WAIT to read!!

IT IS INDEED MALEC RELATED

and, having had a chance to sleep on it, I think a large part of the distressing was surprise

it wasn’t something I had planned on writing (which happens to me with Shadowhunters-fic in a way it has not with anything else really) AND it’s not the sort of thing I write very often

so I showed it to a friend of mine who is much more prone to this style of angst and she capslocked in delight at me for joining her in The Evil, so that was fun

/she even suggested ways to be more evil, she’s really quite brilliant
