Tumblr media
well… anyway, happy ending! clap clap
<Review> It was good! except that stupid climax and stupid magnet charm and stupid perfume shakeout and stupid bunch of death flags and etc But it feels kinda bland, maybe because I watched Zeus' route right before?
I honestly quite wondered how the story would flow; his intimacy with her was already high enough, and we the player already knew his backstory (besides I was quite sure that K-R-S issue wouldn't be covered in K2). So I thought: this K2 should have an emotional conflict, but how? But the writer twisted this situation; a new character named Alfonse appeared, and his relationship with Klaus was used as an emotional conflict… I was kinda surprised by this. In a way, Klaus' route was used to reveal Al's backstory, but that wasn't unpleasant to me. Rather, it appropriately stimulated my curiosity about what the hell happened between the two.
But the one thing that bothers me is, this conflict was only implied and not resolved in Klaus' route. And I'm sure that this will be covered in Al's route, then conversely, his route will be used as a stage for the conflict between the two. And I doubt if Solmare can do this well. I'm kinda worried that what if I end up like "I'm watching Al's route, but why is Klaus being shown more and his emotional line being emphasized more?" Well… I have no choice but trust the writer But really, I'm kinda scared. The conflict between the two is already serious, and Klaus finds out there's something between Al and Liz? While he has a crush on her? oh no
About the character Klaus… demanding, intimidating, sharp tongue, the manner of a superior… like that. In K1, his characteristics felt relatively emphasized since Liz was a novice provisional student. However, as she grew up after the cataclysm, the sense of hierarchy and vertical distance between the two was greatly resolved. But in my personal opinion, if I only consider characteristics, I'd rather give K1 a higher score. Of course it's obvious that K2 is much better as a romantic partner (compared to K1, I mean), but what can I say... it feels like his characteristics have also been diluted in the process of diluting all the negative elements of K1? Those elements are subtly revealed when dealing with other characters (especially Al), but well. This evaluation might change if I see Al's route later. Perhaps his behavior will be more severe and drastic than K1… I'm not sure though.
<Trivia> I don't have much time to post since the semester started plus translating takes more time than I think Anyway, I might start Hiro's route on Tuesday or Thursday, but I guess the upload term will be irregular. Considering that I have midterm in April, I'll probably not be able to finish Hiro's until May. huh

I'm curious to hear your overall thoughts on the original Princess of Power.
While Filmation's He-Man had to come to an end, due to TV stations not being willing to pay for TV show episodes beyond 100, it was still a bold move to carry on Masters of the Universe in a girl-centric show.
From some of the interviews you've posted, it doesn't sound like Mattel Marketing had much faith in PoP, saying things like "Oh, she's a flanker brand: she'll succeed, increase gross doll sales, and when she stops selling after a couple of years Barbie will gobble up the increase."
It especially struck me in the interviews about the Star Sisters engineering how much more creativity and tooling money "action dolls" took than fashion dolls. It's a bummer to think of so much heart and intellect was being poured into something doomed to be short-lived.
She-Ra has of course had two limited revivals, in a (predominantly male) adult collector form for MotU Classics, with no action features and sculpted hair, and then as more conventional dolls when SPOP debuted, but being canceled after only a few characters.
So what do you think would be the ideal way to handle these characters?
my thoughts on the original? six words:
capitalism is the death of art.
i wrote like four thousand words about it but ultimately it boils down to Mattel ignoring market research because doing so was cheaper in the short term, which killed the original toylines & had already squashed Janice Varney-Hamlin’s original pitch for an action doll.
the same 1984 FCC repeal which allowed He-Man and She-Ra to have tv shows at all marked a sharp decline in 'gender neutral' toy advertising, which had been on the rise since the early 70s. In 1975, <2% of the Sears toy catalog was marketed to a specific gender. By 1995, it was nearly half--numbers that hadn't been seen since WWII.
By reinforcing binary gender norms, the toy industry is able to capitalize on specific play patterns (what was once ‘homemaking’ is now ‘disney princess’) and condition the market to accept pink taxes, and.
Okay I’m starting to rant again. Reining it in. No death threats this draft. Anyway Mattel killed both toylines by trying to maximize their profits & Filmation was doomed from the moment RankinBass realized it was cheaper to outsource animation to other countries. Hell, from the moment the SCG was formed. It’s so much cheaper to extract value from people you’ve fucking colonized and. uh.
No. okay I’m fine. I’m fine. We’re just gonna move onto the modern toys now.
MOTUC is its own can of worms for me. On the one hand, they didn't have the Filmation design rights until like 2012, so there are a lot of things they couldn't do, but the number of MOTU vs POP figures has always been disheartening. And the bios... it's gotten better since Penny Dreadful & gbagok have come aboard, since they're like human encyclopedia for MOTU lore, but in the early days, when Toyguru was in charge?
I should be nice but i’m still annoyed he’s making me check his youtube channel instead of just answering my questions like a normal person. what does “near future” even mean. When is “soon”??  i am currently disinclined to be charitable towards your lore, Scott! answer my riddles three or i start listing grievances!!!
The Dreamworks toys... honestly, I think the big failure there was marketing. For one thing, I never saw a single advertisement for them until I went trawling through the official Youtube channel (and that video put me off very quickly). And I can recognize that I'm not the intended demographic, you know? I’m like thirty years old & i’ve never been into dolls. Did kids like them?
My ideal toyline would have an emphasis on accuracy. Looking as on-model as possible. When I was a kid my favorite (non-stuffed) toys were those little pokemon figurines; articulation isn't really necessary for me as long as the figures can stand up by themselves. The Super7 toys were pretty good, I just wish they had more of them--or that they were sculpted in more interesting poses. But that line, too, suffered from a dearth of advertising. Who can buy these toys if they don't know they exist? Especially during the pandemic, when fewer people were willing to linger in the toy aisle and happen upon things--that's when you should be promoting shit. hell, put a bumper at the end of the episodes if you have to. as long as it was skippable idt there would be much flak for that, given we all signed up to watch a toy-based cartoon in the first place.
the type of toy i prize above all others, though? the kind of shit i went bananas for as a child & still delight in to this day?
toysets.
give me a crystal castle toyset with a little pocket guide on reading first ones' script. give me castle bright moon (WITH A MAP. PLEASE). a hordak's sanctum set that's the only way to get an imp figurine--kids love evil lairs & adults love collecting. a little Darla set that comes with spacesuits if the toys themselves are still Dolls.
but that’s not cost-effective. so. yeah

AFL round 10 Sydney Swans vs Carlton Blues live updates blog scores and stats from Marn Grook at the SCG
(Getty Images) It took them a while to defrost but the league-leading Swans we were expecting to see have certainly arrived now. They have brought the frenetic pressure and tackling heat that has been their calling card all year and the Blues are struggling for answers. Carlton are leading the clearance count and are within touching distance in terms of inside 50s, but everything has been sloppy and rushed and ineffective for the Blues, and that’s all down to Sydney’s pressure. The Swans have found the moments of class, and so many of them have come from Chad Warner. His explosive pace and willingness to take the defence on has really been a key difference in the game. Sydney have this one right where they want it. Going to be tough for Carlton to turn this one back around from here. Source link via The Novum Times

I Asked AI About The Sydney Swans & Their Season
Tumblr media
The Sydney Swans AFL team made the finals in 2023. This was an achievement, as for much of the season injuries and form conspired to make this look unlikely. In a hope that AI might have some answers, I asked AI about the Sydney Swans and their season. So, John Longmire, if you get the chance to read this, may there be something of use in what Chat GPT had to say on the matter. Personally, I was a bit impressed, as the copy was not mere waffle on the topic but had a few pertinent points to make. Of course, my question contained the necessary qualifications to hone a reasonable answer.
Tumblr media
Questioning Chat GPT Regarding The Sydney Swans
“The Sydney Swans' journey through the 2023 AFL season has been characterized by a mix of achievements and challenges on the statistical front. To position themselves for a shot at the premiership, the team needs to strategically address key areas for improvement while capitalizing on their existing strengths. One notable strength of the Sydney Swans has been their defensive prowess. Throughout the season, their backline has consistently demonstrated a strong ability to intercept opposition plays, showcasing exceptional reading of the game and accurate disposal. This defensive foundation provides them with a solid platform to build upon. To maximize this advantage, the team should focus on maintaining defensive discipline, minimizing turnovers, and efficiently transitioning the ball from the backline to the midfield. However, a closer look at their statistics reveals potential vulnerabilities. One area that requires attention is their midfield performance. While the Swans' midfielders have shown flashes of brilliance, their consistency in winning contested possessions and clearances has been lacking. This hampers their ability to gain control of the game's tempo and dictate play. Strengthening the midfield will be crucial for gaining an edge in close matches, as it allows for better supply to the forward line and restricts opponents' scoring opportunities. Additionally, the forward line has been somewhat inconsistent in converting opportunities into goals. The team must address this by refining their forward structures, improving accuracy in front of goal, and enhancing synergy between the midfielders and forwards. Developing a deeper pool of scoring options will make them less predictable and increase their overall offensive potency.” - (Chat GPT, 26th August 2023)
Tumblr media
I asked AI about the Sydney Swans
Swans Lose To Melbourne at SCG Round 24
Picking this post up following the Swan’s defeat in round 24 at the hands of Melbourne. Once again, Sydney could only stand up for 3 quarters. In those quarters they were mighty in many regards. Luke Parker was giving it his all. Errol Gulden was fantastic with 2 goals and 42 disposals. Chad Warner was at it all day. Callum Mills played one of his best games in 2023. James Rowbottom was mighty. However, the forward line let the team down in front of goals with a lack of composure. Isaac Heeney tried hard but was under enormous pressure all day. It was the old story, if you don’t take your chances and score maximum points it makes winning tough games unlikely.
Tumblr media
More AI Advice For Team Sydney Swans “To enhance their premiership prospects, the Swans need to invest in player development and tactical flexibility. Building depth across all lines ensures they can weather injuries and fatigue that inevitably occur over the course of a demanding season. Moreover, having players who can seamlessly adapt to different positions and roles adds a layer of unpredictability to their gameplay, making them harder to strategize against. Team cohesion and leadership are intangible yet pivotal aspects of a successful campaign. The Swans should continue nurturing a positive team culture, fostering camaraderie among players, and empowering emerging leaders to take charge both on and off the field. Strong leadership bolsters morale during tough times and galvanizes the team towards a common goal. Lastly, the coaching staff's ability to adapt to varying match situations is paramount. Swift tactical adjustments during games can be the difference-maker, particularly against strong opposition. Analyzing opponents' strengths and weaknesses, as well as analyzing game data to identify patterns, will enable the coaching staff to formulate effective strategies that exploit opponents' vulnerabilities. In summary, the Sydney Swans have the foundation to contend for the premiership in the 2023 AFL season, but they need to address their midfield consistency, forward line accuracy, and cultivate tactical flexibility. Strengthening these aspects, coupled with a resilient team culture, adaptable leadership, and astute coaching, can propel them to the pinnacle of success. It's the holistic approach that integrates statistical analysis with strategic planning and intangible factors that will ultimately position the Swans as formidable premiership contenders.” Chat GPT - (Chat GPT, 26th August 2023)
Tumblr media
Swans Vs Melbourne: Useful Takeaways From The Match It was better a performance at centre bounces by the Swans in terms of winning the ball by the midfield. Well, for 3 quarters it was anyway. Bigger bodies in Petracca and Viney won out in the end in that last quarter all over the ground. How did Bailey Frisch kick 5 goals and who was on him in that last quarter? It was a poor defensive performance by the Swans in this key regard. Tom McCartin and Dane Rampey gave their all and tried hard all day. Unfortunately, Harry Cunningham made a few poor disposal errors during the game, but he never gave up. Robbie Fox was good and gave his 110%. The Swans lack size and muscle in defence and around the ball. There were questionably umpiring decisions which went against the Swans in front of goals for Melbourne. The inconsistency around dropping the ball when the ball is knocked out in the tackle is galling. Razor Ray made several decisions against the Swans and did not penalise Melbourne players for exactly the same thing. It spoils the game, in my opinion. Are the Swans fit enough? Is this the issue in their going missing in last quarters? Is it physical fitness issues or mental concentration and application problems over the journey? Melbourne hounded them out of the game in the final quarter and Adelaide thrashed them in the last quarter the week before. There have been around half a dozen or more examples of losing last quarters where Swans players go missing in the contest.RSH Too many lightweight players unable to make their physical presence count when it really matters. Jake Lloyd has been a great player for a longtime and yet lacks size and power in key defensive contests. Dylan Stephens is an outside wingman but must put his head over the ball more.
Tumblr media
Chat GPT Recommendations For Sydney Swans AFL Team To Win CB Ball “To enhance the Sydney Swans' midfield performance and win more ball from center bounces, several strategic and tactical adjustments can be considered: Positioning and Timing: Proper positioning is crucial for winning center bounce contests. Midfielders should focus on getting to the right spots at the right time. This involves reading the ruckman's taps and anticipating where the ball will land. Quick reactions and a strong sense of timing are essential. Ruckman-Midfielder Connection: Developing a strong understanding between the ruckman and midfielders is vital. Ruckmen should communicate their intentions to midfielders, indicating where they plan to tap the ball. Midfielders can then position themselves accordingly to take advantage of these taps. Variation in Ruck Taps: Ruckmen should vary their tap directions and techniques to keep opposition midfielders guessing. A mix of short, long, and taps to advantage can disrupt the opposition's setup and create opportunities for the Swans' midfielders to exploit. Contested Ball Focus: Winning center bounces often comes down to contested ball situations. Midfielders should be prepared for physical contests and focus on their body positioning to gain an advantage over their opponents. Good use of the body and positioning can help them gain first possession. Teamwork and Communication: Effective communication among midfielders is essential. They should signal their intentions to each other, such as calling for the ball or directing teammates to certain areas. This teamwork ensures they're supporting each other and spreading the opposition's focus. Quick Ball Movement: Once the ball is won, swift and clean ball movement is key. Midfielders should look to move the ball into space before the opposition's defense can set up. Quick ball movement can catch opponents off guard and create scoring opportunities. Second Efforts: Center bounces are often chaotic, and the ball can spill to ground quickly. Midfielders who follow up their initial contest with second efforts can win crucial ground balls and maintain possession for their team.Chat GPT Skill Development: Improving skills like clean pickups, effective handballs, and accurate disposal under pressure is fundamental. Midfielders should train to perform these skills consistently, allowing them to make the most of their possessions. Adaptability: Different opponents and conditions require adaptability in tactics. The midfielders should be prepared to adjust their strategies based on the opposition's setup and how the game is unfolding. Analyzing Opponents: Prior to matches, thorough analysis of opponents' center bounce setups and tactics can provide insights into potential weaknesses to exploit. The midfielders can work on countering these setups effectively. Fitness and Endurance: Center bounces are physically demanding, requiring high levels of fitness and endurance. The midfielders should be well-conditioned to maintain their performance throughout the match, especially during crucial moments like center bounces. Simulated Practice: Simulating center bounce scenarios during training sessions can help midfielders refine their techniques, practice contested situations, and develop their decision-making under pressure. By implementing these strategies and emphasizing skill development, communication, and teamwork, the Sydney Swans' midfielders can significantly enhance their ability to win more ball from center bounces. This increased midfield dominance will contribute to better overall team performance and set them on a path towards success in the AFL season.”
Tumblr media
Who will be the next Buddy? Yes, some of the above is pretty bloody obvious stuff but the Swans do need to consistently win more ball from centre bounces and stoppages. Second efforts demand greater fitness, flexibility, and strength. I think that the side could focus more on second efforts at stoppages. Goal kicking is a reflection of mental strength. Confidence breeds composure under pressure. In my observations I see a lack of belief in oneself contributing to misses in front of goal. My advice, fake it until you make it – Isaac Heeney.  Heeney is a beautiful kick of the footy but mental scar tissue from misses make him vulnerable to the pressure. Make your intention more powerful than anything else. Take a leaf out of Toby Greene’s book. All the Swan’s forward line must bite the bullet and make their intention unbreakable. Winning games of footy depends upon kicking straight. Winning the ball is one thing but kicking straight is the crowning achievement and one without the other is a waste of time. Go Swans! Robert Sudha Hamilton has been following the Swans since the bad old days when Gary Buckenara and, then, Barassi coached the team.

INTERVIEW with Michael Kras, Playwright
Tumblr media
Above: Michael Kras - photo by Megan Kras
The world premiere of No Big Deal, produced by Roseneath Theatre and presented by Tottering Biped Theatre, will be touring in Hamilton for an extremely limited run October 21st to 23rd in the Robinson Memorial Theatre at McMaster University. No Big Deal is the newest work by local playwright Michael Kras, a recent recipient of the Voaden Prize for his hit play The Team.
Kras' work centres on new-generational characters navigating their lives in present day Canada. His provocative, witty and accessible plays have been breaking out of Hamilton with some now featured in play publications and school program productions across Canada.
I had the pleasure of a virtual interview with Michael to discuss his playwriting journey and the anticipation of No Big Deal being staged.
SCG: Describe your inspiration for your latest work No Big Deal and what encouraged you to write this piece.
MK: In 2019, after finishing a sold-out run of my play The Team in Hamilton – which is a play that features five young women – I wanted to jump into a new project that allowed for a more direct kind of introspection.
The ways in which toxic masculinity permeate our culture, especially in ways that feel innocuous or have been normalized, were interesting to me as a playwright; so I decided to dive in on a play about male friendship and two young men coming of age with extremely divergent ideas of what “being a man” means to them.
With this basic idea in mind, I approached Toronto’s Roseneath Theatre – one of Canada’s leading companies for Theatre for Young Audiences – and pitched them the idea. As it turns out, the topic of toxic masculinity has been an in-demand one for schools across the province, so Roseneath was all for it and I soon jumped into a role as their OAC Playwright-in-Residence through 2020 to work on the play. I’m so proud that this play will be making its world premiere with Roseneath as their first in-person production since the pandemic began.
SCG: What is your perception on taking a risk regarding writing new pieces of theatre?
MK: Good question! I view risk as a playwright as the bravery to present challenging ideas without letting the work itself take a clear side. As an artist, I can live in a safe place by using the play to tell the audience how I feel about my characters and their actions, but I think it’s much more interesting to present them as they are – the good and the bad and the grey – without judgement. That, for me, is where the discussion lives.
That’s what I love about No Big Deal; its lens on toxic masculinity is often subtle, and the gender politics that inform so much of the conflict in the play can be deeply complicated. I have zero interest in easy answers; if I did, I probably wouldn’t be a playwright.
SCG: Hamilton theatre has an increasing interest from younger audiences and many community theatre companies encourage their involvement as participants in community productions. How do you approach this as a playwright and why do you believe your work speaks to younger audiences?
MK: I can’t speak too much to what that’s like in community theatre, but I will say that I think any theatre – community or professional – will see no downside to programming, creating, and developing new work that’s about and for new-generation audiences and artists.
So often in Canadian theatre we put theatre for adults and theatre for young audiences into two separate silos, but I believe that theatre for young audiences can tell stimulating, challenging, powerful, exciting stories that impact a much broader range of audiences than just young people. One of my favourite examples was during a talkback of my play The Team – another play I wrote about and for young people – where one of the most visibly moved people in the audience was a white man in his 50s.
I think that universal resonance happens when we as artists treat young people and their experiences with weight, complexity, and nuance. At the end of the day, young people are doing the same thing all of us are doing; trying to find our place in an increasingly uncertain world.
SCG: What have been some challenges in writing and workshopping No Big Deal and how have you overcome them?
MK: No Big Deal is one of the hardest times I’ve ever had writing a play. A big part of that was absolutely the fact that I began developing it right at the start of the pandemic, and trying to write a play was the very last thing on my mind while the world around me was going through this terrifying and unprecedented event.
But beyond that, I think it’s more difficult and vulnerable to write a play like this that’s so closely tied to my own lived experience. My play The Team, for instance, came out of me really quickly because the subject matter afforded me a degree of personal distance. No Big Deal was a direct confrontation of the ways I navigate the world as a young, white, cisgender, able-bodied man. It’s not remotely autobiographical, but this play taught me a lot about myself.
SCG: How will this play speak to Hamilton audiences or audiences in general?
MK: I will consider No Big Deal a success if audiences in Hamilton and beyond walk away with completely different takes on the events that occur in the play. I think people in the audience will get different reads on certain situations and moments based on their own lived experiences, and that excites me so much.
I’m very proud of this play; I think it’s extremely funny, humane, moving, and challenging, and the team bringing it to life at Roseneath Theatre is very special. But above all, I think No Big Deal is going to prompt some incredibly important discussions; and not just for younger generations.
Thank you Michael for your engaging insights on playwriting and bringing another intriguing work to the stage. Please see details below for more information.

Hey!
I think that Tatum is NOT uncomfortable...
He literally want that if you choose first option that you will bring Blaine....
Idk why so many people hating on everything.....
I hope you have good day/night !
Hey there, Anon!
It's not so much hating (I really like Tatum, too), but I think it's more along the lines of pushing these boundaries of someone whose top priority is to do their job.
To me, it reads uncomfortable because MC says or does certain things that would be fine if Tatum wasn't their bodyguard... but because he is, he could lose his job or be whatever the equivalent of being dishonorably discharged for fraternizing with their ward.
Two other points on a tangent:
1) I feel like something happened during Tatum's tenure in the army and he might have PTSD.
2) MC is literally a different person when doing scenes with Blaine. They're very forward with Tatum but almost become prudish with Blaine.
I appreciate the different dialogue and scenes from PB, but it's like MC has different personalities depending on the LI scene you're doing.
Thanks for the ask and I hope you have a good day/night as well!

Human space is dangerous.
Not because of the humans, but because of the environment.
Human controlled space is so hostile because humanity has managed to fill an ecological niche too hostile for most if not all other currently intelligent alien species.
It is not something that is unexpected. We, the GCIS (Galactic Council of Intelligent Species.) have seen several species enter space and fill niches and gaps left empty by other intelligent species.
What separates humanities accomplishments from the rest of these species is two things:
One- As discussed before, humanity has filled ecological niches left void by other current species of GCIS. The exact reason for the Councils surprise is how large these spaces are. It is simply amazing the size and variability of the territory humanity has expanded into (And there seems to be little to no limit on what hostilities they can withstand.) simply for the sake of expansion and exploration. If a space is hostile, they simply throw resources into it until they figure out methods to occupy it.
Two- Humanity has taken these hostile niches and they have begun to... change them. Terraforming is a familiar concept, and the technology has been created before. However, the scale and speed they accomplish their terraforming is not. entire planets trimmed up to Terra-like specifications within a Terran year. It is simply fascinating.
And even if a planet is too hostile, like the incredibly young system of Bellar 45 that hasn’t developed enough to be terraformed, they settle in the system anyways, utilizing bio-space-stations to live on. When questioned why they decide to stay in the system, the answer was what they would refer to as “Universal”: they are waiting.
Yes! Waiting.
They are waiting for Bellar 45′s surface (And other similar planets from other systems.) to cool enough to be terraformable.
When asked if they were aware the time it took, they informed us that they were indeed very aware. They intended to leave instructions and tools for their future and yet-to-exist descendants to use the planet.
When further questioned for why they didn’t simply choose another older system, one that is relatively easier to develop, they responded they has “Called dibs” on this one and had no intention of leaving now.
Reminder: Humanity has denied any request for them to join the Galactic Council of Intelligent species. However, they have also denied inquiries from the Solar Collection of Galaxies. (SCG)
They also have yet to respond to inquiries questioning if they intent to form their own council.
For now Human space is hostile because of its environment, not its inhabitants: let us hope that does not change.

AFL round 10 Sydney Swans vs Carlton Blues live updates — blog, scores and stats from Marn Grook at the SCG
(Getty Images) It took them a while to defrost but the league-leading Swans we were expecting to see have certainly arrived now. They have brought the frenetic pressure and tackling heat that has been their calling card all year and the Blues are struggling for answers. Carlton are leading the clearance count and are within touching distance in terms of inside 50s, but everything has been sloppy…

Burning Questions: Return to play, 2020 expectations, Heppell, Hooker back, BZT, Cutler’s intrigue and more
Tumblr media
Dyson Heppell is back. Cale Hooker is back too. And Joe Daniher is trending in the right direction for the first time in years. Football is back.
The coronavirus pandemic has halted every sport in its tracks. The NBA is still yet to resume and still hasn’t figured out a safe method of finishing its year. Major League Baseball hasn’t worked out if or when it’ll start its season. And the NHL are fine tuning a path to return to play but nothing is final yet. These are just a few leagues to name, but every sport league has stopped. And every league is now trying to figure out how to come back safely. There’s no blueprint either. It’s one messy, minefield.
If there is a silver living here for the AFL, it’s that, any club who had long-term injuries, or newly sustained pre-season concerns over players have been given the lifeline of 83 days to help prepare, heal and get right before Round Two. For the Bombers, this period has been favourable. Hooker and Heppell had short-term injuries that would have seen them miss multiple weeks — in Heppell’s case, he would have missed at least half the season. Same with Joe Daniher. But with the three-month hiatus Hooker and Heppell will play against Sydney. And Daniher is weeks away from playing so he should see a good chunk of the 2020 season.
But fit bodies are just that. There’s still a slew of unanswered questions that need addressing. Some will get answered this weekend. Others will take weeks to answer, if not, a year or two. After three consecutive years of 12 wins, 2020 was meant to be the year that the Bombers delivered better than that, moved up from mediocrity and won a final. But, the pandemic has added another layer of uncertainty around the Bombers. With that, here are some burning questions that will impinge the Bombers in 2020.
*
Can Devon Smith pick up where he left off before his PCL operation?
We will know soon enough when he takes on the Swans but from all reports the knee has never been better. “My knee’s been pulling up the best it has since I can remember, so I’m really excited about the season,” he told news.com.au. My only real concern for Smith, is can his knee stand up to the rigours of AFL intensity? He’s had a decent 12-month stint without AFL competition. And being a hard-at-it player, someone the Bombers need in trenches, we’ll only know just how good Smith’s knee is in the days and weeks to come.
But let’s go back to 2018 when Smith won the Crichton Medal. That was the year Watson, Stanton and Pop Kelly retired. Heath Hocking got delisted. The Bombers went 2-6 early in the season. Mark Neeld got the boot. Daniher got shutdown with a season-ending groin injury. And the midfield had some serious holes. But Smith stood up. He averaged 22 touches and 8.5 tackles — both career highs — and kicked 17.16. And if you remember, he carried the team during the big games. Against Collingwood in R16, he collected 31d, 8m and had 13 tackles in their 16p loss. Against Carlton on a wet MCG, he laid 15 tackles along with 21 touches. His pressure and hardness around the contest was made more obvious in a midfield that was lacking grunt. He filled that void.
The complications of COVID-19 has forced the AFL to make quarters 16-minutes long. That means Smith can go full-tilt for an entire game. There’s upside to that. But, to my earlier point, can his knee withstand that kind of onslaught in shorter, more intense sets? The Bombers missed Smith in 2019. His return will make opposition midfields more accountable. He’s another goal-kicking option. And his high tackle count (in 2018: 186) will cause turnover opportunities, something the good AFL teams do regularly.
Essendon haven’t won in Sydney since 2009. Can they break the drought?
It’s hard to definitively say the Bombers can win this one when there’s an existing 10+ year SCG drought to consider. But when you think about the 83 days between R1 and R2, both teams are operating on a clean slate. It’s like the start of the season take two. On paper the Bombers have a good balance for the small SCG ground: tall key defenders, small, quick and bullish forwards. They bring back their captain, Dyson Heppell. Hooker, Hurley and Francis should stand up against Heeney and the Swans’ potent forwards. That gives the Bombers a chance to steal this one.
There’s a growing concern over the Bombers forward line in 2020, with Joe Daniher still out, Fantasia missing. Will the Bombers struggle to kick goals?
For this week at the SCG those outs won’t matter. The Bombers should be able to cover Daniher and Fantasia through a core group of Smith, Stringer, Townsend, Tipungwuti. For the Bombers to go to that next level, adding Daniher and Fantasia is a must. The good news is that the Bombers have worked out other ways to kick goals. And it sounds like this year they are relying on midfielders and small forwards to do the damage on the scoreboard. But if Daniher and Fantasia do come back soon, the Bombers will have their strongest forward set up since the 2000 Premiership: Stringer, Townsend, Fantasia, Joe Daniher, Tipungwuti, Smith. That’s not too shabby.
Dustin Fletcher is on the cusp of being inducted in the Hall of Fame but some are saying that he might have to wait a few years because of the 12-month ASADA ban. Should he have to wait?
If they decide Fletcher has to wait another year or two, because of the ASADA ban, in the grand scheme of things it’s not that big a deal. As long as he’s inducted. He’s a lock. Let’s not forget Fletcher had a decorated career with 400 games and two premierships. Let’s also remember he meets the criteria: record, ability, integrity, sportsmanship and character. No-one could argue against any of those things with any great certainty. Whether it’s now or years to come, it’s happening.
Of the players picked to play against the Swans for R2, who should we watch, and what should we look for?
Tom Cutler. I liked what I saw against Fremantle in R1 and how he moved between the backline and forward 50. His speed is impressive for his size considering he’s carrying a 192 cm frame. I think he’s going to be a match up headache every week. Andrew McGrath is another one to watch. This year will be his first year as a full-time midfielder, or at least that’s how the Bombers intend to use him. He keeps getting better, quicker, smarter. He has Cotchin attributes.
The most intriguing duo in the team right now are Townsend and Stringer. Two bulls. They really need to impose themselves against the Swans on a small SCG where spacing is tight. Both have the ability to kick three to five goals each on any given week. In the absence of Daniher they’re going to have to seize on every opportunity.
Do you think the 16-minute quarters will work in Essendon’s favour?
What I think this means for the Bombers is that they can leave their best mix of players on the ground longer without breaks. And there shouldn’t be any issues with not being able to run out games. Also: with the speed the Bombers have on their team — Fantasia, Saad, McKenna, Tipungwuti — the shorter quarters gives them breaks just in time when they might be gassed. Worsfold will still have to think about rotations.
Townsend is playing his 50th game this week. What did you make of his game against Fremantle?
He kicked three goals from nine kicks against Fremantle. It was impressive. He looked dangerous in that game each time the ball came near him. His hard-nut approach and big body will give the Bombers flexibility to play him forward with stints inside the midfield. I can’t wait to watch more of Townsend this year. He’s my new favourite player and he’s only played one game.
There will be no crowds at some games for the foreseeable future. How will this impact the Bombers?
After this week, the Bombers are in Melbourne against the Demons, Blues, Pies. It’s not really an issue yet. For most teams playing away, no crowds should neutralize the home advantage. Without the parochial and constant barracking it’s going to create more parity.
What’s up with Zerk-Thatcher breaking the rules around coronavirus?
He’s young. He’s 21. There were 16 Adelaide players who broke the rules too and didn’t get punished. There will be more young players who break the rules around coronavirus moving forward. It’s unfortunate. But he owned it. Zerk-Thatcher is a player that the Bombers need to get more games into and develop him as a replacement for Hurley or Hooker. He’s fine. Everything is fine.
The Bombers still haven’t won a final since 2004 and they’ve won 12 games in three consecutive years. What should Bomber fans expect from here, in a pandemic year?
With a clean bill of health the Bombers should be setting themselves up to win their first final in 16 years. Since 2009 their finals record has been putrid. They have scraped through to the finals five times for a 0-5 record and boast an average losing margin of 59.2. The worst defeat of that lot was in 2009 against the Crows to the tune of 96. It’s hard to predict what will happen in a pandemic year, where life is changing every day. So expect good weeks and bad weeks. I would say for this year, watch how the Bombers transition, how they defend, how the midfield holds up against intense pressure. Those are the areas they need to improve in.

©WordsForWeb Read the full article

Quantum Leap: The Beginning
Tumblr media
As you woke up, your mind kept repeating the words that you had heard in your strange fever dream from last night.
N̸̦̔o̶̲̾w̵̟͒ ̸͉̈́g̴̨̾o̴̳͌o̵̦͒d̸̟̈ ̴͔̔r̵̘̂i̶̠̋d̸̩͒d̸̖̀â̴̱n̴̹̋c̷̺͐ē̴̯.̴̯͂
After whoever it was spoke those words, you and Seungwoo were both flung back into your physical bodies. However, unlike Seungwoo, who had woken up immediately, you had been thrown into another deep slumber. Seungwoo kept tabs on you, but mainly spent the few days you were out training, as he knew there was a bigger threat than just Youngho now.
Even though he had been frozen when the being had thrown them into a reality hole, he still heard everything that had happened. When he had heard the fear in your trembling voice then, he knew that now, more than ever, he needed to be ready at all times to protect you.
The day that you had finally woken up, you had walked onto the deck of the treehouse to witness Seungwoo floating a few inches off of the ground with his legs criss-crossed. You climbed down the ladder, watching how the vibrant yellow aura around him acted as you came down. Once you had set foot on the ground, you said softly, “Uhh.. Seungwoo?? What’s happening??”
He suddenly whips around to face you, his eyes completely engulfed in the same yellow color that surrounds him. He uncrosses his legs, standing up as the aura around him started to fade, the color in his eyes starting to dissipate, only remaining in his irises. “Thank goodness you’re awake,” Seungwoo says happily, stepping a bit closer to you, “I was starting to get worried.”
“What do you mean?,” you ask, “Was I out for a long time?” Seungwoo nods, but says, “I was mainly worried that the being who trapped us in the reality hole had taken over your mind,” he says, “We have a lot to worry about now y/n. Whoever they are, they’re a lot more powerful than us right now.”
“What’s a reality hole? And what exactly happened? I feel like I can’t remember anything clearly right now,” you say solemnly. Seungwoo sighs before he says, “Because that’s the being’s power. They can alter memories and reality somehow… and a reality hole is that white space we were in,” he says, looking you right in the eyes, “It’s just the name for the space that exists in between realities. Somehow, you weren’t affected by its powers, which freezes most mortal beings and prevents them from doing anything except hearing and seeing anything that happens right in front of them. The only exception to that is teleporting, but you usually don’t see inside of the reality hole when teleporting.”
“Now, for why you can speak and exist inside of a reality hole is beyond my knowledge,” he continues, “I’m trying to remember if we learned anything else while we were inside of the time vortex… something keeps coming to the tip of my tongue, but it’s like it happened and it’s been taken from my mind.” He freezes, definitely realizing the being had stolen that memory from him.
He groans frustratedly, scratching the side of his head. “S-so what now?,” you ask nervously. “We have to somehow find this being,” Seungwoo answers, “And defeat them before they can start affecting any other realities.” He pauses for a moment, glancing over you before opening his mouth slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but shut it closed before anything actually came out.
“What?” you ask, looking into his eyes pointedly, “I know you want to say something Seungwoo.” He sighs once again before saying, “I think they might be after you in some way. You have something they want, I can just feel it. Which is where I come in.”
“You currently have no real way of protecting yourself,” Seungwoo says hurriedly, “So, I’ll be protecting you from now on, and you have no say in it.” He finishes, crossing his arms defensively. You smile at him and say, “Now why would I have a problem with that?”
“So how exactly do we start this hunt for this mysterious being?” you ask. Seungwoo turns around from you, simply using his hand to motion for you to follow. You jog forward, slowing down to a walk once you’re walking by his side. “Honestly, I have no clue as to where we should start,” he says, his forehead scrunching up slightly in frustration, “Beings who can manipulate realities are a little harder to find than people who actually exist.”
You giggle slightly and say, “Well, of course! They aren’t technically real in a way.” Seungwoo smiles back at you before saying, “I guess so, but as you saw, they can affect us.” You nod in agreement as the two of you near the edge of the cliff that overlooks a large valley with huge towering mountains on the other side. Seungwoo leans down slightly, his head placing his head at about the level of yours, before he points off into the distance.
His finger points to a large shadow off to the right of you before he says, “That’s the empire in which Youngho and Xenia are from. You can only see the backside of the castle from here, but yeah.” As your eyes finally adjust to the massive distance that you’re looking across, you can definitely tell that it is a castle and a large one at that. It towers above even the taller mountains in the range, and you can’t help but feel intimidated by the sheer power you can feel from it.
You shake your head, turning back to Seungwoo in an attempt to refocus your strained eyes. Seungwoo smiles down at you softly before saying, “Don’t worry y/n. I won’t let Youngho hurt you again.” He reaches his right hand out, clearly intending to rest it on your shoulder, but right before it lands, a spark forms from his hand.
Before Seungwoo can yank his hand away, the spark expands in the blink of an eye, forcing you off of the edge of the cliff before you even realize what’s going on. As you finally feel yourself falling, you let out a wild scream, flipping over only to see the ground approaching at a rapid pace, and you screamed once more, recognizing your impending doom.
A large shout booms from above you, and your body flips around to see Seungwoo diving off of the cliff, a yellow light surrounding him as he tried to fly down and catch you. But you knew the ground would catch you before Seungwoo could ever even reach you. You squeezed your eyes shut, a few tears falling upwards, as you knew your death was going to be quick and painless.
You clenched your teeth, your fists, and you even curled your toes, starting to feel the life drain from your body as you inched closer and closer to the rock-hard surface. Seungwoo lets out another cry from above you, this time however, he was yelling your name in a last attempt to save you.
“Y/N!”
The sound of your name being called makes you release every body part that you had clammed shut. Your eyes opened wildly, taking in the sight of Seungwoo one last time. His eyes were wild with color and desperation, and his was flung back from the force of flying. And of course, he was surrounded by his golden aura, a color and sight that you had begun to love. You smiled one last time as the last few seconds approached. “Goodbye… Seungwoo…” you muttered weakly, bracing yourself for the final impact now.
˙ʇǝʎ ʇoN
However, before the impact even happened, a white hole appeared underneath you, sucking you into it. Your mind went white, disappearing into a haze of memories. Seungwoo had to quickly brake himself, as one, the portal had disappeared as soon as you fell into it and two, if he hit the ground going as fast as he was, he would most likely sustain injuries.
As Seungwoo somberly traveled back up to the top of the cliff, you were being thrown all over the place, your mind buzzing as loud as a hive of bees. You felt as if you were being sent through an elaborate water slide, as you body folded every which way, even changing from 1 dimensional to 3 dimensional somehow.
You suddenly stopped though, and sat there for what felt like hours trying to get the buzzing to go away. Your mind pounded with intense pain, and your body floated in many circles as you just prayed and hoped the pain would fade away.
Just as the pain was starting to fade and as you were beginning to uncurl yourself from the ball you had rolled up into, a small ball of concentrated purple light appeared in front of you, before expanding and quickly filling the space with a faint lavender glow.
“W-what’s going on?,” you stuttered out, turning your body in every direction to try and figure out if anyone had appeared. Someone chuckles from in front of you, and you see the purple light ball bobbing up and down. “Many things are happening y/n,” the being says, “However, I don’t think you’ve truly realized what is truly happening.”
The voice sounds oddly familiar and warm, almost as if you became accustomed to it a long time ago. “And now you’re thinking about who exactly I am,” they say, a teasing tone arising in their voice, “But to be honest, I know you’re not going to figure out who I am without my help.” The ball floats up until it’s at about your eye level. And without any warning, the ball starts to dissipate, branching out before you started to see the limbs and appendages that were forming before your eyes.
However, the last part of their body to form is their face, and as the features find their way onto their face, you start to recognize every individual feature about them. From the clothes they adorned, to the unquestionable features of their face, and to the the style of their hair, you knew it was actually a she.
And you knew exactly who she was.
scg ds ynuq sdstgq, yulsgn.
“W-what are you doing here Yunseo?!” you exclaim, “ynu adga ygmqs mbn…” She looks up at nothing and says, “Blame her. I would’ve never died and you would’ve never been thrown into this mess if she hadn’t started writing this damn story.” You cock your eyebrows at her, trying to figure out exactly who she was looking at. “U-um… who?” you ask timidly.
“Oh, I forgot, you can’t see outside of the story like I can. Being agma has it’s advantages,” she says coolly, looking back down at you again. “There is a lot we have to go over… but now is not the time. I’m going to return you to Seungwoo for now.”
“And don’t mind the little change I make either, you’ll understand soon enough.”
“Wait yulsgn-!” you try and shout, but the purple dimension is sucked away from behind you and you’re thrown back into the real world, hitting the ground in front of Seungwoo’s house like you were supposed to hit the valley floor only minutes ago.
And as you rub your eyes and sit up, you hear Seungwoo rush out from the treehouse, immediately standing next to you.
Right when your eyes open, a familiar ball of purple light appears right off of the edge of the cliff and you and Seungwoo stare in shock as you watch it explode into the largest portal you’ve ever seen.
~~
You and Seungwoo spent the next few days trying to figure out exactly what the portal was. However, none of your experiments had answered any of your questions and had only led to more and more confusion. You had explained everything that had gone down with Yunseo, but none of that lead to any answers either. Seungwoo, however, was now convinced that you had powers of some sort and was also trying to figure out a way for you to harness them. Nothing had come from that either.
All in all, the two of you were left with nothing when it came to answers of any sort.
Until one night, as the two of you were drifting into sleep, you swear you heard someone calling your name as you were falling into a deep slumber. The farther you got to falling asleep, the louder the voice got. You tossed and turned, trying to get the voice to stop, but it continued, even as your mind finally crashed into slumber.
Your brain displayed an array of colors, almost as if you were falling through some sort of vortex. The voice still called your name in the background, but you were too focused on the swirling and fluctuating colors. However, everything that was happening around you suddenly came to a halt, and you slammed onto some sort of invisible ground.
You were still dazed from the optical illusion you just witnessed but when your eyes finally adjusted, you were sitting in a very familiar lavender colored space. “Geez y/n,” an all too familiar voice says, “Do you not know how to respond to visions?”
Before you can even say anything, Yunseo pops into existence right in front of you, a crooked smile placed on her features. “I’m guessing no?,” she says wickedly, a small giggle slipping out. “What do you mean?” you ask pointedly, somehow managing to stand your dream self up. “That was me calling your name silly,” she says, “Basically when you hear that, you have to follow the sound of my voice. However you do that doesn’t matter, but it usually will end up with you falling asleep.”
“The thing that sucks the most though is I can’t appear in the mortal world like you and Seungwoo can, but I can appear in places like these that I create or other spaces like reality holes. However, I can’t create those.” She finishes, her playful eyes now stern, almost as if she’s telling you to ask about the last part of her message. “And who creates reality holes exactly?,” you say flatly, deadpanning when you see the excited smile light up on Yunseo’s face.
“The only people who can create reality holes naturally are our bqgmt-bqmlakntcgq and Talo,” she answers, “You haven’t met either of them yet, I don’t think, but honestly I can’t tell. Someone keeps messing with the charm…” she mutters the last sentence to herself, and you know that asking questions won’t get you anywhere in those circumstances.
But then, the rest of her words suddenly dawned on you. Your mouth flew open without you realizing it and you exclaimed, “OUR BQGMT-BQMLAKNTCQG?! Shouldn’t she be dead?! What do you mean? How is she here?? What the hell is going on Yunseo?!”
Yunseo turns away from you and says, “I know it’s a lot to take in y/n. I had to accept the truth when I adga. But Grandma Xena gave me new life in the form of being your guardian in this charm. She knew you would be the one to find the tqdlhgts ne nqagq and that you would be the one who had the power to stop everything. To stop our bqgmt-bqmlakntcqg and Talo.”
“Xena?,” you ask, “Is that actually our grandmother’s name?” Yunseo’s eyes widen, and she mumbles, “Oh no, don’t tell me they’ve already-”
“Already what?,” you ask, alarmed by your sister’s tone. “Talo-,” she says abruptly, starting to pace back and forth, “They’ve already found you, oh god, Xanthe’s dying and he’s already gotten to your memories- why couldn’t I have been awakened earlier, oh this is not good…”
“Yunseo, calm down!,” you exclaim, “What’s going on? What can I do?” Yunseo stops in her tracks and takes in a large gulp of air, breathing it out in a quick few seconds. “Talo,” she starts, “Has already found you. He’s erased some of your memories… which also means that kdqmbg has found you too, which means-”
She halts mid-sentence, looking dead into your eyes. “I’m going to wake you up y/n. When you wake up, you need to wake Seungwoo immediately and prepare yourselves for battle.” “Wait, why?!,” you exclaim, “What’s going on?” Yunseo quickly sighs before saying, “Youngho is heading here right now, and you need to stop him before he destroys the portal.”
“Once you defeat him, you both need to head into the portal. Your true mission starts now. There’s no time left. I have to hide your presence from kdqmbg and Talo before it’s too late again,” she rambles on, eventually stopping to float right up to you, placing her hand tenderly on your cheek.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be here for the last few years sis,” Yunseo says, “But just know I’m always going to be with you now, no matter where you go. Out there, you’ll be able to assist Seungwoo now. I will be lending you some of my power. Don’t worry about knowing how to use it, I’ll be guiding you.”
Her hand slips off your cheek, and she says, “Good luck little sis. There isn’t much time.” Your dream body is slammed back through the spirals, and you sit up in your physical bed, gasping for air. Seungwoo is still dead asleep, his left arm dangling off of the side of his cot and his mouth wide open as he breathed.
You stood up quickly, rushing over to Seungwoo’s side before hesitating. ‘I don’t want to be a bother,’ you think, ‘But there’s no time. Yunseo seemed too worried for this to just be a simple threat.’  Sighing slightly, you grabbed Seungwoo’s dangling arm and started to shake it, saying, “Seungwoo, wake up!,” as quietly as you could.
Seungwoo made a weird snorting noise finally before his eyes flew open, immediately looking over at you. “What’s wrong y/n?,” he asks quickly, his voice clearly dry from sleeping. “L-Listen,” you start nervously, wondering if he’ll even believe your crazy words, “I just had a vision with Yunseo, Youngho’s on his way here now and we have to stop him.”
“And then after we defeat him, we have to go into the portal. We’re not safe in this world anymore,” you finish. Seungwoo’s eyes darken, and he stands up quickly, rummaging around the room. “Dammit, where is it?,” he says frustratedly, throwing different objects around the room as he searched for whatever he was looking for.
You turned away from him, figuring he probably didn’t need you bothering him. As you were exiting the smaller back room, you grabbed your bundle of day clothes. Pajamas were definitely not the best uniform for a battle, and wouldn’t be too comfy in that situation either. You slipped on your blue jeans, black combat boots, and plain & simple t-shirt.
Seungwoo stepped out the back room a few moments later, two small satchels thrown over his right shoulder. He had changed into a pair of jeans like yours and a pair of simple closed toed shoes, leaving his chest bare like always. “Put anything you need to take with you in here,” he says, handing you one of the satchels, “I’m afraid I only have two bags, so that one will be for our shared clothes, and this one will be for food or any other small items we need to bring.” Without saying anything else, the two of you quickly get to work, finding anything and everything that you needed to bring with you. And soon enough, you had walked back into the front room, only to find Seungwoo gone.
A bright flash of yellow light from outside immediately told you where he had gone, and you put the satchel down next to where Seungwoo had laid his, before running outside. It was already pouring outside, and Seungwoo was floating right above the portal, yellow thunder rumbling through each cloud that passed over him. In the distance, however, you saw a charging beam of red light.
Youngho.
You knew it was him. How could it not be? There wasn’t time to dwell on questions like that, however, as Youngho was moving a lot faster than you and Seungwoo thought. Just after you had finished thinking about it, Youngho slammed onto the ground right in front of the portal, completely passing by Seungwoo completely.
You quickly ducked into the cover of the vines that covered the edges of the balcony, hoping that Youngho wouldn’t see you. However, Youngho clearly wasn’t focused on finding you, as he turned the portal itself and held his hands up and they started glowing.
However, this time, his hands weren’t glowing red, they were glowing black? Before you could analyze it, Seungwoo dove down from his position above the portal, sending a quick wave of magic that stopped Youngho’s magic. He then braced himself and slammed right into Youngho physically, sending back a huge force wave that knocked you over and caused a large wind to expand out from them.
Both of them hop back, and you can see both the determined look on Seungwoo’s face and the cocky smirk that was present on Youngho’s features. “Playing the hero again, eh Seungwoo?,” Youngho teases, “You were always the selfless type.” Youngho laughs while Seungwoo starts to scowl slightly.
“I could say the opposite for you,” Seungwoo start, “You were always the selfish type.”  Youngho laughs again before answering, “You’re damn right about that brother!,” he finishes, his laughter and cockiness slowly fading from his face.
"̴̨͇́͒͌̀̌̽N̵̡̯̣͇͍̎̅̆̏̕͝o̴̩̪̘̩̝̻͂͌̃̑͑̽w̸̟͔͌́̍͠ ̴̯̺̟͓̓ḯ̵̧͔̘̈́̒̀̇͝f̴̖̈͘ ̸̞̮̙̬̄̐͝ò̴̩̼͙͋̾̕ṇ̴̛̀̀̊̊͝l̷̟̓̈̈́ỹ̸̭̤̳̿̓̾̚͝ ̶͍̣͙̾ẁ̷͚̻̗̣e̷̻̺̰͎̗̿ ̶̩̓̓w̶̨͍̯̜͝ë̴͚̤̭͈̯́̑́͝r̷͚͎̖͂̓̄̓e̵͖̲͂̆͂ ̸̧̬̩̝̀ã̵̠̜̽̍͗̏͊c̵̣̍̀͠t̸̨̽ǘ̶͓̝̺͛̏̑̆̔ͅà̴̢̡̹͙̬̾l̸̨̳̬̦̯̟̓̓̃́ļ̷̗̲̮̇̓y̶̢̧͍͚̎̀̋͠ ̴͍͙̖̌b̸̢̛̰͍͖̮̄̓̾̌͝r̴̩̦͉͌͆o̴̡̳̝̘͚͂t̴̫̫̻̓̑̍̅̊h̶̢̳̩̦̺̊e̵̩̐͝r̴͈̪̜͋͠s̶̻͈̮̤̹̝͛͆̎͊̊̈.̵̨̞̰͋̇̄̽͌̒"̶̢̼̾̍̈̋
Seungwoo simply cocks his head at Youngho and starts walking towards him, but you notice a black aura starting to collect around Youngho. Seungwoo doesn’t seem to notice this and keeps walking towards Youngho, clearly muttering and mumbling things under his breath.
As the black aura around Youngho starts to thicken, you know things are about to turn ugly. When his right hand starts to inch up slowly, your body flies forward without you even thinking anything. Youngho doesn’t notice you, and sticks out his stand, clearly aiming at Seungwoo’s heart.
“Seungwoo! Watch out!,” you exclaim, throwing yourself in the line of Youngho’s attack. Youngho fires the beam just as you leap in front of him, and a bright light envelops the three of you, blinding all of you as you finally slammed back down into the earth.
The dust that had been thrown up didn’t dissipate for a good couple of seconds, but when it did, you finally saw the purple shield that now surrounded you and Seungwoo. ‘This must be what Yunseo was talking about,’ you think, ‘I didn’t even think about going out there, something just pulled me right from the balcony.’ A strange-looking silhouette staggers up from Youngho’s side, and as the dust around him finally clears, you gasp in shock.
The right half of his body looked like it had been melted away, a black substance dripping from where his normal body had once been. The outer parts of his eyes had turned black, and his irises held a bold, blood red hue to them. His breathing was heavy, and the air around you felt tight, almost as if you were inside of a reality hole again.
“I was w̷̡̻̭͎̦͇̞̥͕̌̇̿͜o̵̧̘̯̝̦̗͎͍̖̞̝̟̊̂̈́̋̋̐̋̎̄͛͐̚̚ņ̸̡̧̞͚͖͍͚̼̯̹͎̥̲̓̌͋̈́͘͝͠͝d̷̼͓̞̗̠̣̜̥̦̠̮̹̫̋ē̴̡͍͕̥͓̮̺̑̈̾͑͗̈́̂̾́̅̏͌r̷͔̥͎̳̟̮̣͔̫̺̤͍̀i̴̧̭̜̤̿n̶̨̨̧̥̻͇̻̭̺̦̖̏͜ͅǧ̷̩̥͖̃ when you were going to show up my princess,” he says, his voice now wavering in and out of different tones, “Knew it was only a matter of time before you would learn how to use the true powers of your bracelet.” He laughs, and the creepy sound echoes throughout the forest. “However, I’m afraid you’re just slightly too late, my dear,” he leers, stepping closer to you so he can lean over you sprawled out form, “Kdqmbg and I have everything we need to stop you.”
“That’s just what you think,” Seungwoo says from behind you, rising up and stepping out from the guard of the shield, “I think you’ve forgotten I still have my true powers. The Xanthe tree’s powers.” Youngho smirks at Seungwoo’s brave words and replies, “You think those will be able to stop me? Give me a break Seungwoo.”
He laughs eerily again, the sound filling both yours and Seungwoo’s minds with a static-like feeling. Seungwoo’s face darkens again, and he reaches for his necklace. He holds onto it for a second, clearly thinking deeply about what he should actually do, before he rips it off completely and holds it above his head.
The world is quickly absorbed by a yellow light, and your eyes are blinded for a few seconds before every color around you is sucked away and harsh wind blows by you, pushing you into the shield. A thousand different colors surround Seungwoo before a thunderstorm instantly covers the sky all around you, pouring down an intense rain. Finally, as Seungwoo takes in the last of the magic, the air is filled with a strange melody, one that seems oddly familiar.
Before you can think about it, however, Seungwoo charges down at Youngho and you watch in shock as the two of them are absorbed by an enormous light beam. You quickly run over to it, trying to see inside, but all you can hear is loud shouting and the crackling of lightning.
After a few minutes of staring at it and looking for any distinguishable figures, the beam explodes, sending a wave of light into the sky. As you rub your eyes for the thousandth time, you immediately see that most of Youngho’s body is gone and is now a steadily flowing black blob, with huge red eyes.

Youngho fires off a beam, straight at Seungwoo’s heart. And just like when he hit you... the strike didn’t fail to meet its mark.
Your brain is suddenly turned off by a wave of purple light. You dart forward, no longer thinking.
Well, at least you weren’t the one thinking.
You landed next to Seungwoo, immediately placing your hands over his impaled heart before they glowed a bright and vibrant lavender. Within seconds, the hole had been repaired, and you were standing up once again, and you started to gain control over your brain again.
Youngho was laughing maniacally and facing away from you while all of this was going on, so he never even noticed you had done something. Or was rapidly approaching him now. Smirking slightly, you jumped forward when you were about seven feet away from him, and you leapt forward with an intense purple aura surrounding your fist.
A crack sounded through the woods as you landed a solid blow on Youngho’s back, and it had landed on a spot where you could still see Youngho’s original body. As soon as it had landed, he had stopped laughing.
And in the brief moment of silence, you started to see his physical body start fading to dust.
And then he screamed.
And screamed.

And then there was nothing.
A shadow floated in front of you in the reality hole you had just appeared in.
“This isn’t ỏ̶̦̟̃v̷̠̽͜͝e̷̫̗͝r̴̃ͅ yet y/n. Kdqmbg and I llᴉʍ have our revenge.”
The reality hole blasted away as soon as it had been there and you were standing exactly where you had annihilated Youngho, your fist still extended and everyhing. You took a quick glance at your bracelet, noticing how it was now pulsating lavender every couple of seconds.
“Well,” Seungwoo says from behind you, “I suppose we’re ready to start our journey now, huh y/n?”
As you turn to face him, you see you did indeed fully heal his chest, and he was already carrying the two satchels from earlier.
The two of you turn towards the portal that was still swirling in the sky off of the edge of the cliff.
“So come on,” Seungwoo states, “I think we’re ready to stop whatever comes our way now.”
