#scott/ecto situation

Note
Hate that this needs to be said but it gets so abused by fandom puritans and it pertains to the ecto stuff but some of yall apparently need to hear this.
Drawing/ writing a character as an ADULT in a suggestive situation does not count as pedophilia. Yes the character in the source material is a teenager, but the work was suggestive and they were an ADULT in it.
Calling a hypothetically fictional adult in a fictionally suggestive situation pedophilia is insulting to those of us who have actually suffered from real abuse.
If you cannot separate fiction from reality you should not be in fandom spaces.

Rebloging on main because 1-This is an extremely well put document and complete document and OP deserves more people see it and 2-In general is just good that people inform themselves because there's no denying that while scott jas made his fair share of mistakes some people just straight up demonize him for the tiniest of reasons so is best to know the full story
After two tedious days of digging through Twitter, reading and re-reading and a lot of deliberation, I present to you: The Scott Smajor Twitter Hell Vortex Doc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to make it very clear that the purpose of this document is not to pass any sort of moral judgment on Scott or anyone else involved in the Scott Smajor Twitter Hell Vortex.
The purpose of this document is to act as a masterpost of information regarding the events that occurred from August to November 2023 that resulted in Scott retreating from Twitter and his newfound "controversial" reputation amongst the fandom.
I've been seeing a lot of fans old and new alike confused about the events and why some people dislike or refuse to acknowledge Scott in fanart/fanfic, so hopefully this will be something able to be pointed to when an explanation is needed (because, god, a lot of stuff happened). A lot of the events are not easily explained because context is so crucial.
Please let me know if you believe there's anything I should add or if there are any amendments you'd like to make ✌️

I hope that this is the last thing I ever post on this drama, but i just dont understand the negativity against Scott with the whole Ectoslab situation
Like yeah, I do understand being disappointed in him for not doing anything against the harassment towards Ecto, that's a criticism I do actually agree with. But people are almost treating it like Scott was the only cc ever involved with Ecto to drop them, saying that he did it to "save face" and "not get dragged into the drama". Everyone seems to forget so far Scott is the only cc we know to have expressed his support for Ecto during the harassment campaign and Scott wasn't even the closest CC to Ecto, Sausage was.
Yet Sausage didn't make any sort of statement on the situation (as far as I'm aware), nor in support of Ecto nor even about cutting ties with them and I haven't seen anyone critizicing him for letting down an artist he was so close to.
Other CC dropped Ecto too without saying a word on the matter. Scott was the only CC to express his support towards Ecto that we know of, and only retracted it upon finding out Ecto is a proshipper, retracting his support because he doesn't support proshipping. He wasn't trying to save face, he simply found out an artist he worked with and with who he would openly interact (especially in the early days of Pirates SMP) turned out to behave in a way he didn't approve or supported and decided to drop them.
Tumblr media
He was trying to be a good person help someone without knowing or understanding what they were being accused of. And that has led to people taking his decision of retracting his support for someone because he didn't support what that person stood for and equating it to him trying to not get himself involved in the drama. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if people would have hated on him too for expressing that he didn't want people harassing Ecto (tho still I still wish he would have addressed it at least) and saying that he supported proshipping because of that. Why? Because that's what happened to the artist Foxxology, who was friends with Ecto, initially supporting them until they found out what the accusations where about, at the time this was going on and when they expressed despite not approving of Ecto's stance, they didn't support the harassment either people interpreted their distaste for unfair harassment as them supporting proshipping and also getting dragged into the hate which was the final push for them to leave twitter (they had been planning on leaving for a while, this incident was just the final straw, not the main cause).
(Also please they've already moved from this so don't go bothering them about this)
Lemme ask: Would you all be judging Scott as hardly had he stayed silent on the matter like every other CC did?
You can dislike Scott, in general or because he handled this specific situation. But I ask you to please verify all the information from all sides, not just here but in general. I too was on Ecto's side for the first few days but decided to check on my own if there was any proof to the allegations against them. It wasn't my intent to prove they are a proshipper (hell I was hoping it was stuff being taken out of context or something from so long ago Ecto no longer agreed with that) and I found out the proves for the allegations causing me to block them and delete anything I ever reblogged from them from my blogs. I still considered the harassment unfair, but also didn't want to suport a proshipper. My opinion didn't change upon seeing a google doc explaining things from their side when they say the characters had been aged to 18 (because I know that's not true) and that they continued to defend their stance saying that is about more than just problematic pairings.

why are people playing off the ecto & scott stuff off like it's a "goofy twitter thing" like i'm sorry but scott is consistently insensitive, has said some horrible shit to literal kids, and ecto is an immature proshipping dead dove loser, who frequently shares nsfw to minor audiences (before u say it's tagged, rhey literslly dm with their minor friend about it.) & who can't ever admit they're wrong in a situation despite being like 30+ and always beefing with 15 year olds. these two are supporting each other and it's clear neither of them want to make up for the fact that they've hurt so many people

What's the difference between organic and chemical fertilizers?
When we buy fertilizers, they generally have NPK listed on the front, which gives the concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the fertilizer. Organic fertilizers typically are sourced from plant or animal sources, while non-organic or chemical fertilizers are specific elements that we've determined plants need, and may have been synthesized in a lab or mined from the earth. Why might you favor one type of fertilizer over the other? It comes down to nutrient availability, which is a double edged sword. To understand why, we need to know a bit about mycorrhizal fungi.
Plants need nitrogen and other minerals, and when growing without excessive fertilizers, they form symbiotic relationships with ecto and endomycorrhizal fungi, which have vast mycorrhizal networks with incredible surface area. This allows the fungi to much more efficiently absorb minerals and water from the soil, which they exchange for plants' root exudates, which have sugars that the plants have fixed through photosynthesis. Plants with these symbiotic fungi are more resilient to disease and drought, and grow better. The mycorrhizal fungi can also reduce plant's uptake of heavy metals, and can prevent nutrient rich runoff.
When nitrogen, potassium, and especially phosphorus are too available, plants kick out their symbiotic fungi because they no longer need them to get these nutrients. However, this has a down side: symbiotic fungi protect against pathogenic fungi, so now those plants are more vulnerable to fungal infections. They also can no longer can take up water as easily, along with other micro nutrients that may or may not be in the fertilizer.
However, you may have noticed that I didn't specify chemical fertilizers in the above paragraph, and that is because you can see the same effect in some organic fertilizers, like manure, rock phosphate, bone meal, etc. So it's not JUST chemical fertilizers that can negatively impact fungi and their symbiotic relationship with plants- it's any fertilizer that is too rich and too available. If our goal is to support mycorrhizal networks, ideally we would add just enough fertility and in a form that is more available to fungi than plants, thus encouraging those symbiotic relationships.
However, that does not mean that chemical or readily available fertilizers don't have their place. If I'm growing something in a pot and it's going to be in a pot it's whole life, I'll often use some kind of fertilizer that I wouldn't use in my garden. Chemical or quick release fertilizers are great for when you've spotted a nutrient deficiency and want a quick turn around for your plants. I usually use some very rich sources of fertility for my cucurbits and raspberries, but learning this has made me rethink this practice.
I think an apt analogy between a box of strawberries and a soda. The box of strawberries has sugar, but it also has more micronutrients and will feed the kind of symbiotic bacteria we want in our gut in the long term. Meanwhile, the soda has a lot of sugar which will rapidly increase our blood sugar and feed the kind of bacteria that aren't as beneficial. However, if your blood sugar is crashing and you need to bring it up, the soda is the better choice. Each has their place, and it's best to analyze your situation and determine which is the better choice.
If you want to read more, here's some sources:
"A Gardener’s Primer to Mycorrhizae: Understanding How They Work and Learning How To Protect Them (Home Garden Series)" by Linda Chalker-Scott, available for free from WSU.
"The complete guide to restoring your soil Restoring your soil" a book by Dale Strickler, very in depth and a great book to read if you want to know more about soil.
This is a very complex topic and our understanding is expanding rapidly. I could not possibly cover everything there is to know about this in a single post, but I do think this is at least a good taste.

If this is about ectoslab, they were outed as a proshipper. Scott initially did express his support for them cuz a burner account on twitter started to hate on them and attempt to dox them and sending death threats
Scott retracted his support once he found out what being a proshipper means
On ecto being a proshipper (the first link is broken due to the original blog being removed)
TW MENTIONS OF ADULT X MINOR SEX
Tumblr media
Screenshot from 2021, ecto was either in their late 20's early 30's
I wont deny Scott could have handled the situation better but as far as I'm aware he was the only one to express his support at first, other cc seem to just have dropped ecto from the start
some more sources on ecto being a proshipper (tho i admit i dont agree with the points that put shipping mcyt characters on the same level as shipping a minor with an adult)
Source 1, Source 2, Source 3
screenshot from ecto's previous blog
Tumblr media
the artist foxxology was also close friends with ecto and also got sent hate for "supporting a proshipper" when they simply expressed that the hate mob was unecessary, although they cut out ecto too for not aproving of them being a proshipper and so did a few other artists (saddly they removed the post but the link was this)
I send this just to give some more information on the situation. I too was on ecto's side until finding out what they did. I was still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they were no longer a proshipper but given how they continued to defend that proshipping doesnt mean just shipping problematic stuff and later in a google doc explaining the situation from their point of view said the characters they shipped where over the age of 18... i just was no longer able to give them that benefit. Still getting doxxed and sent death threats to the point of leaving ecto in a very bad place mentaly is not good
As per the tags on your last ask, what'd Scott do?
If it's enough for you then it's enough for me - obv u don't have to but if you'd like to. Just don't wanna be liking the wrong blorbos iykwim
-s
That last sentence is kinda weird to me. There are questionable things he's done that I think could sour some people's opinions if they were already iffy about him, but please don't use me as an arbiter of who you should and shouldn't like, especially without looking things up yourself. My reasons are very much 90% personal taste. If there was something awful and big enough objectively that people *should* drop him you probably would have heard about it and I def wouldn't be hiding it in the tags of a random ask on my art blog.
I just don't like him. He rubs me the wrong way and the moments I enjoy watching him are far between. I don't enjoy his personality, I don't tend to like his bits, and some of his jokes make me uncomfortable. I don't like his interaction with the people I do like, like Jimmy and Pearl, and I generally find myself muttering "go away" when he is around. That's it.
There have been some incidents, of vastly different levels of validity, but the root of them all is he is uncomfortably entrenched in fandom and also terrible at responding to incidents and drama. He fumbles his way through them and either makes a scene or causes harm to others. Recently there was an incident, and I cannot find it right now so take this with a heaping bag of salt because you should never trust sourceless information, of an artist he worked with who got in hot water because he followed their r18 account and then responded poorly to the hate mob that followed while trying to save his own skin, while already tied up in other controversies.
I'm the kinda person who easily and quickly drops media or products if I get bad vibes so that was enough for me, regardless if it's true because I just can't enjoy someone after controversies. But that also happened recently and I've always not really been fond of him, I just wasn't honest because I felt like it was better to try and like something. I just ended up disliking him more because of it though, I think. So I've stopped and just decided to interact with him as little as possible.

SONS OF CHAOS HC GN
Chris Jaymes (A) Alejandro Aragon
Oversized, panoramic graphic novel Sons of Chaos, exposes the quiet agenda of the Ottoman Empire’s most brutal dictator, and his fascination with a young Greek boy that led to a war that would define the Western World.
An immersion into the moments we never see, and the self-serving motivations that convince a nation that violence is warranted, and that war is necessary.
In honor of the 200 Year anniversary of the Greek War for Independence, Sons of Chaos presents the story of 1821 through the eyes of Marcos Botsaris, the son of a respected Greek leader taken prisoner as a child and raised within the dungeons of history’s most infamous Ottoman Pasha, known as the “Napoleon of the East”– Ali Pasha of Ioannina.  Over the next ten years, the bond formed between them would define history.
The Greek War for Independence was a conflict that quietly influenced the entire world and participants ranged from the London Stock Exchange to celebrities such as Lord Byron, as well as average impassioned Americans willing to transport themselves across the Atlantic to fight alongside the Greeks.
This conflict was the pinnacle of what we now know as the Romantic Period and yet, it’s a war that few know ever existed outside of the Greek and Turkish cultures; a war that stimulated the fall of the Ottoman Empire and shaped Western Civilization as we now know it, and in a sense is being fought today under a different heading amongst today’s political world leaders.
Hundreds of years of Ottoman rule gave the Greeks a reason to fight. Marcos Botsaris gave them a leader.
THEY CALLED US ENEMY TP
George Takei, Justin Eisinger, Steve Scott (A/CVR) Harmony Becker
Advance solicited for July release! George Takei has captured hearts and minds worldwide with his captivating stage presence and outspoken commitment to equal rights. But long before he braved new frontiers in Star Trek, he woke up as a four-year-old boy to find his own birth country at war with his father’s-and their entire family forced from their home into an uncertain future.
In a stunning graphic memoir, Takei revisits his haunting childhood in American concentration camps, as one of over 100,000 Japanese Americans imprisoned by the U.S. government during World War II. Experience the forces that shaped an American icon-and America itself-in this gripping tale of courage, country, loyalty, and love.
TREASURES RETOLD: THE LOST ART OF ALEX TOTH HC
Alex Toth (A/CVR) Alex Toth
A blockbuster collection of rare and little seen stories and artwork by the legendary Alex Toth. Included are complete stories from the 1950s and beyond, recently discovered color animation storyboards and presentation drawings, sketches and doodles, industrial comics, and individual pages from obscure comics and magazines. Oh boy how do I start this…
I’m going to have to put this under readmore.
Okay so for mcc it’s due to people not wanting Sapnap in the event due him to joining kick which is very well known for being a racist and bigoted platform. Alright that’s understandable and valid feelings but don’t attack Scott or the noxcrew with hatred and death threats.
Next came was mcc 34 which was set in between rising and twitch rivals. The problem that arose was that mcc would be during a Holy Week for Jewish folks so some viewers couldn’t watch and yet again Sapnap was in the event and won. People got upset at Scott for putting that date, he said he couldn’t change it and it was the best day for the players. Someone then replied that they weren’t going to watch which he replied with something like “okay then”.
Twitter didn’t like that. Now I can’t speak for Jewish fans because I’m not Jewish myself, it’s not my place to say. Best to ask folks there. From my understanding there was ones that were upset and angry at Scott and others who didn’t mind/care and said they can watch vods later. My best guess to the date was because of rising and rivals noxcrew needed to find a date in between those events.
Next comes someone claiming that Scott spoke to them when they were 12 and he was 20. The text messages is just “scott” calling them immature. This then spired into people calling him a groomer. My best guess is due to a lack of reading comprehension. This tweet is now a popular misinformation thread towards Scott.
Then there was the ectoslab situation. A popular artist in the hermit and traffic scene, they drew sfw and nsfw art and Scott knew of that. He even commissioned them to draw a thumbnail for his last life movie. One day Ecto is claimed to be a pro shipper by people who dug into their twitter history. Now I don’t know what makes them a pro shipper or if they claim that title or not but the aftermath had the artist doxxed and sent death threats.
Scott not knowing what was happening asked how Ecto was doing and they then post that Scott was on their side. Twitter was furious. People then start claiming that Scott was defending a pro shipper, making him a groomer and just wild accusations. Turns out, he had no clue what a pro shipper meant. Scott then publicly announced on twitch about the situation and that he no longer follows the artist or wants NSFW art drawn of him.
Even though he clearly explains that no, he doesn’t support Ecto or pro shipping, people still claim that he does and therefore is a horrible person. Dude even hired a different artist for the original thumbnail but it’s too late, people still continue to spread information.
Now when it comes to anon’s confession and my original tags from above, people hate seeing certain CC’s but will still watch things they’re in and complain to the masses. My tags are talking about Scott in the life series.
He’s very good at the game and apart from third life Scott has made it to tm he final three three times. Turns out when you are good at the block game and have good alliances you will be in the finals.
Shocker.
Because of this even way before all of this drama a vocal minority of people in the traffic fandom have shown disrespect to Scott and wish for him to fail or get out first or sneer at the near sight of him in others videos.
This only got worse with twitter and the false accusations. That’s the story up to this point.
Also mods of the confession blog if you don’t want my rambling here I can make this into a separate post. It would be a very understandable request and I would follow through.
Anyway, if some block streamer or youtuber is in something you don’t like and you just can’t keep your thoughts in every time you see them interacting with their friends, touch grass and maybe don’t watch the series?
i feel like a lot of stans who dislike certain creators for various moral reasons are so hypocritical with their standards like how can you have an issue with someone to the point of having their fans in your dni and still watch their close friends and smps they’re part of? make it make sense
especially during dsmps peak i swear i was seeing it all the time where someone would have literally half the smp in their dni and complain every time they showed up in a stream like if you don’t want to see them dont watch anything they’re still associated with

I love that the reason people still hate ecto is... hazbin hotel. God forbid you casually enjoy a show that doesn't meet everyone's standards.

old mog anon i understand your point of view and respect your stance. i’m glad you weren’t sent any death threats and i’m sorry to your friend that did, they didn’t deserve it
i also was somewhat of a friend of ecto and was really sad to hear about the drama. my main problem was they didn’t really keep all their graphic and nsfw stuff on their nsfw accounts (and still don’t) and put it out where minors can see and that they’re a hazbin hotel fan. everything else is pretty iffy on what’s true or not but i am still uncomfortable with them
glad we could come to somewhat of an understanding even though we have different opinions, have an awesome day and happy holidays

hello other mog enjoyer!! cool 2 see more fans of them here :)
unfortunately my stance on ecto won’t change unless new information comes to my attention that I haven’t seen before (I really don’t know too much about the scott thing because I really don’t care and don’t keep up with smajor), because of a few main reasons:
#1 close friends of mine were sent death threats by the same people sending them to ecto! I would have been too if I had had a public blog at the time. drawing a line in the sand of “oh we do hermitshipping but they do suggestive or nsfw hermitshipping” would be ridiculous when there were people who quite literally thought we all should die for doing so. (fandoms are so weird lol)
#2 not very well, and pretty briefly due to unrelated circumstances, I knew ecto. they were chill.
#3 most importantly, I don’t care what people do in their free time if it isn’t directly harming themselves or others. the big thing that got them cancelled was commissioning a suggestive piece of art of two adult characters in an au setting (one of which was a teenager in canon). I don’t know the context so I’m not sure why that was marked as problematic anyways, but whatever. they also, if memory/brief research serves, had a non-con or rape kink. here’s the surprise- I don’t care. it baffles me how involved fandoms are with the kinks/fetishes/sexual interests/whatever of random people. kinks don’t make you a bad or unsafe person.
in conclusion: I’m against people being sent death threats for any reason, especially for doing things that do not directly harm people, fantasy does not represent someone’s feelings in reality, and people can do whatever the fuck they want if it’s not hurting anyone.
thanks for reading,
mog anon

no. its really not that deep. you can like the show at a surface level and not be fawning over the creator or whatever. this is a stupid ass take! it really isnt that deep

I’m so concerned… do y’all not realise being a Hazbin Hotel fan is bigger than just liking the show…
The creator was a terrible person who abused her employees… the show glorifies and romanticises all sorts of abuse including rape… it’s a badly written show…
Sorry but I’m gonna have to agree with the Mog Anon 2 here…
