with the new demo out, i can go into a bit more detail about my relationship with tamarack's parents a la step 2

being tamarack's best friend, i met them when they met the first of their inconsistent visits to golden grove. they wanted to meet their daughter's friends, after all

and not much has changed in the past 4 years. whenever they visit, i'm always there too. i'm okay with getting to know them better because ultimately they're tamarack's parents. i'd just prefer they move to golden grove because 1) tamarack is here and that should be reason enough for them to move and 2) i don't want my best friend/long-time crush to move away

in general i think over the years i maintain a decent relationship with the parent in-laws even beyond our golden grove days

in step 2, tamarack has things she doesn't feel comfortable sharing with even me and i personally think that she should tell her parents whatever it is she's thinking. that conversation never goes well since in step 2 tamarack's a complete 180 from her 10 year old self. a lot more insecure, a lot less certain and the degree of comfort we have that's changed very little since we were 5th graders doesn't apply to everyone else, least of all her parents

so to keep the peace, i don't push it and hope for the best outcome
