There is absolutely no chance every borrower eats crackers and just bread so an idea sparked in me:

Like borrowers having specific recipes with ingredients humans don't usually try to eat. Like: flipping dandelion jelly! Or grasshopper soup or something or drying out grass and making tea from it (I used to eat grass as a kid lol)

Thanka to my extensive 2021 cottagecore 9hase I can confirm this would 100% be it.

In my mind borrowers arent just 'humans but little', they have their own culture and customs and foods and delicasies. Of course there's a difference between borrowers in smaller vs larger groups, but the premise is the same.

Did you know that you can make paint out of flower petals? Because imagine traveling through the woods with your friends, a white rock catching your eye. Overturning the stone, theres a teeny tiny piece of tree bark (The thin, paper-like part iykwim) and there's a little painting on it, depicting what seems to be a story

Imagine the culture and myths surriunding humans, shit would be absolutely insane! It's either they're 'if you're seen, you're dead. they are animals, they kill like animals.' or they're 'if you're seen, you're dead. humans are too intelligent to be empathetic, they will not listen to your pleading.' and it creates an absolutely horrifying picture of humans either being driven by the animalistic need to kill, or being basically god level smart HDOSKSK

Ough and the FOODDD

Dandelion jam is brilliant btw!! Ough putting it on little itty bitty breads that they baked.. EHEUZBAKAJ

They'd find ways to scavenge and recycle as much material as they can, using leftover dandelion stems to make whats basically cellery, putting it in little stews (generally with I'd like to think meat from rodents or other small things?)

If they manage to get a strawberry, it's a wonderful day. Depending on the size of the borrower colony they'd be able to get ALOT out of it, making jams and jellies and outright munching on it. And bigger fruit like lemons or oranges? They'd get as much juice as they could into containers, and use the dried out flesh as decoration or spices!:D They use the peels for a multitude of things ofc (including spices and maybe even insulation?)

Imagine them hunting beetles and using the non-edible parts as armor

do you think that with how much time has passed in the show, and beth being a lot older now, like in her 30s or very late 20s that the audience who denied bethyl when still aired will be more open to their relationship as she will be well into adulthood now. just a thought i had as most of the people who deny they were romantic use the argument that she was ‘too young’

Yes and no.

So, I remember there being really two kinds of people who were against Beth and Daryl romantically.

The first were people with genuine and understandable concerns. Back when S4 was airing, I worked with a woman who had a daughter who was eighteen. She watched the show and told me she loved Daryl, but she didn't like the idea of him and Beth because she had a daughter that age and would be very uncomfortable if her daughter started dating a 30-year-old.

My arguments there are

1) while I understand the worry there in our current society, we're dealing with the apocalypse in TWD, which is a whole different monster. What if there really AREN'T any other men around. As long as he's genuine and the relationship is healthy (i.e. he's not a creeper) I don't see the problem. And

2) this worry speaks to my friend's daughter's maturity. I would argue she was worried about her daughter because her daughter just didn't have the emotional maturity to date someone that much older than her. That's also a valid concern in general, but not one that applies to Beth and Daryl.

So, there was this kind of person who had valid reasons for not liking Bethyl as a romance, even if I didn't agree with their arguments. I think this type of person will come around, as you said, because Beth is so much older now and even Daryl has grown a great deal in maturity and experience. So for this type of person, the answer to your question is yes.

Unfortunately, the other type of person who opposed the ship are those who either shipped Daryl with someone else--anyone else--or who just hated Beth as a character. All characters have their diehard fans and their illogical haters. Beth is no different. These fans claimed ridiculous things like pedophilia because it was a convenient reason to hate the ship and they knew better than to admit how petty they were and that the real reason is that they were having temper tantrums because they couldn't have their way and have Daryl be with the person they wanted.

This type of person will never come around. They'll scream to high heaven about how the show has disrespected them and how traumatized they are because their ship never went canon.

So, I guess we just need to be prepared for both. I've always said, and I still believe that 99% of the GA will be on board when Beth returns. Despite the haters being very loud on social media, we've given evidence time and time again that proves that MOST people were fine with Beth, and MOST people just want Daryl to find his happy ending. Most of them don't even care who it's with. So, when Beth returns, people will remember S4, finally realize how long this has been in the works, and jump right aboard the ship.

But in the background, we'll still have to deal with the screamers. Unfortunately. But who cares? It won't bother me because Daryl will finally be with his soulmate.

A G/T GRAVITY FALLS SCENARIO

Imagine this: We all know Ford researched the supernatural in gravity falls that's like "yeah everyone knows that" kinda thing

But like what if he like met a borrower and became friends with them through his research and stuff. Their friendship falters a bit when Ford starts going insane so they don't talk much anymore but the borrower still lives in Fords house, then the portal incident happens and our borrower friend coincidently now decides to try to talk to Ford again but is met with Stanley and is like:

"WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?"

Dipper+Mabel and borrower reader thing!

Like during the episode little Dipper:

The kids getting randomly home before they were supposed to while tiny (thanking grunkle Stan in their minds for building those bridges and ladders) and they accidentally stumble into the walls so obviously they explore them a bit finding reader in their room eating crackers or something (the reader would probably have a walkie-talkie in their room to call up Stanley any time(my personal headcanon)) and they like frantically try to scramble to their walkie-talkie to call up Stanley ofc with codenames :3

I feel like that situation would be so goofy

Reader would probably take a second to realise that these are *not* little borrower kids that got lost, these are the kids who'd been unintentionally terrorizing them.

Regarding the size crystals in gravity falls!

Imagine reader getting a taste of what it's like to be human sized and somehow being taller then Stanley lol. They would definitely go like: "this is weird...I always have to look up at you but now I'm looking down on you..." They get to do some normal human stuff but reader ultimately decides being human sized is overrated (definitely not because they like being held by Stanley!) And also regarding my ask from earlier about the kids finding reader while tiny they would definitely be shocked to see them just human sized strolling through the shack lol

DHSJS they'd tease him endlessly, knowing that it's a rare oppurtunity since they'd already made up their mind on being tiny again, then theres a moment like that spiderman meme where the kids are like "ITS YOU! FROM THE WALLS!"

Also. Dare i propose, reader, now human sized, giving stan an actual hug. AHEUEHSJS WEEPING

More Stanley and borrower reader stuff!

Remember the scene where Stanley watches the dutchess TV show? Well in this au he happens to watch it with reader while the reader is seated on the armrest of the chair resting their back against Stanley's palm. When the scene of the dutchess declaring "I may be a dutchess but I'm also a woman" comes up they both say the line:"it's just like my life!" And then they just stare at eachother for a bit before laughing lol

Stanley takes the reader everywhere with him, he wants them to get fresh air even if it is just from his pocket.

So he ends up almost always having one hand in his pocket regardless of the temperature or where the pocket is which makes the kids (mainly Dipper) go like: "he must be hiding something in his pocket all the time..." So every time after they return home and Stanley puts his coat or something on the hanger, they try to look through the pockets but find nothing lol

AWW THATS ADORABLEE

If he gets nervous or upset by something reader trying to pat his hand to calm him or comfort him, and when the kids are off being feral they get to sit on his shoulder and they chat on a stroll HDKSKS

omg imagine reader is half a fidget for if he gets nervous, they dont mind though (probably)

ANOTHER STANLEY AND BORROWER THOUGHT!

(Regarding my last rambling sessions :3)

When Dipper and Mabel come over for the summer:

They would 100 percent ask about the tiny ladders and constructions around the house(regarding your idea of Stan making tiny ladders and stuff for reader) and Stanley would just be like "pshhh! Those are just for decoration to make the shack seem more mysterious!" But the kids will surely know something was up since those ladders are all around the house and Stan is weirdly protective over them lol, considering they don't know about reader just yet they would maybe assume their grunkle was very into tiny models like those model boats and planes (but we all know dipper would investigate further lol)

ABAOLUTELY

He'd be internally panicking of the kids are too energetic in the house near the little pathways and stuf, and imagine they break one by accident when Stan isn't there, but Dipper is like "this is a great opportunity for a steakout!" and they'll apologize, but wait until Stan thinks they're asleep to see why they're so important

Now it's either they discover reader and immediately go interrogate them + Stan, or alternatively, Mabel feels guilty about snooping and manages to drag Dipper back to the attic before reader is there.

Stan however is getting an absolute earful, reader is like "YOU NEVER SAID THERE'D BE KIDS, STANLEY." as he's fixing up the pathway, and as many times as he apologises for the lack of warning, reader lectures him again. Until eventually they decide it's not worth it and say it's fine that they broke the pathway, but that until they leave, reader is gonna hide. (Of course this doesn't last)

The kids are none the wiser, for a while atleast. And since then, anytime they get near the structures he's praying internally that they don't break it again. (Gets to the point where they aren't allowed to run in the areas that do have the pathways)

I HAVE READ THAT ONE FORD AND BORROWER FIC

Here is some other idea I had of what could happen after the portal incident:

Since the reader in that fic got kicked out I feel like Stanley and them would share a lot of common ground and could relate to eachother making them almost instant friends which would be so silly considering the first encounter with Ford in that fic :3 (me hyperfixating over a fanfic? NO WAY! (I'm actually tweeking))

I absolutely agree with you. He'd probably tane it upon himself to make sure that reader would be safe, he'd try his best to make the food and stuff more accessible, etc etc. (Please Please picture Stan getting scrapmetal from the portal and attempting to byild very small stuff to help reader, aswell as little bridges and ladder and stuff!!)

It would be a bit difficult for him to adjust to how skittish they are probably, having to keep his voice down alot of the time (despite reader insisting that they're used to it and it's alright) and having to be suuper careful with how he moves so he doesn't accidentally knock them over of spook them

Which continuing off that imagine him just standing completely still the first few times they're in eachother's space because he doesn't want to freak them out or hurt them LMAOO
