Jonah and the Orca: feedback
I was happy with the screenplay I completed. I read a number of scfi-horror scripts between writing the outline and completing the piece including Alien, Predator and a number of doctor who scripts. This better informed me on the aesthetics and tropes of the genre, specifically the way they use environment as a source of horror  which tied in well to my existing idea of using the ship as the monster.
The feedback I received was to lean further into the unknown element of the horror as the midsection is too repetitive with people going in and seeing the body and I should instead focus on the build up to the reveal of the monster is the ship.

The strange case of  Jonah and The Orca: Outline
Jonah, Kaveh, Lilly and Captain Nadia start in the canteen. Lilly leaves, then Kaveh as Nadia and Jonah chat about the disseperance of The Orca’s crew. Jonah finds Lilly’s body in front of a screen receiving a distress signal and is discovered by Nadia. She accuses him of being infected and calls in Kaveh who sides with her. The ship starts acting strangely. Nadia turns of Kaveh realising that Jonah couldn’t have killed Lilly. The ship starts changing shape and breathing. Jonah realises these anomalies are because the parasite IS the ship. They accept their coming demise and broadcast a distress signal. The signal on Lilly’s screen was from the orca.

Screen plays for week 6 initial brain storm
set in the past:
- 1990s most achievable. Looked for articles from the 1990s for inspiration, found one about a woman who cut off her husbands penis and threw it out a moving car. Interesting premise but what would the story be?
Set in the future:
- Model/influencer whose never aged Dorian grey style whose real appearance can be captured with film photography. She is blackmailed with a box of film photographs sent to her by a photographer, would end with her deciding that this stress isn’t worth her vanity and publishing the pictures of her.
- Alien spaceship thriller. Inspired by Among us and a passage from Neil Gaiman’s Coraline. An Alien parasite infiltrates the ship and kills one of the crew members, everyone turns on each other trying to figure out who is the murderer/infected but the biologist figures out it is the ship itself that is infected.
