Does the mer boys like to sing? Have they learned any sea shanties from sailors and pirates?

They can sort of sing. Their song is melodic, but it's not what they use to "lure sailors" to their deaths. They flash hypnotic colors on their body like a cuttlefish.

But they have heard shanties before. They won't speak the words but they'll likely hum it if it's catchy enough.

the first thing that comes to mind is that time 3-4 months ago, so the middle of winter, when heading home from a party and just ran into some guy who was completely ass out naked and idk it was at least in the negatives fear for that guy s health honnestly

Well. Sabal’s campaign is over, guys. It’s hands-down the best DnD I’ve ever played. I’m going to miss this party and my boy SO much. For anyone wondering, here’s what became of my little well-intentioned idiot.

First off, he had to help his friends kill Thorlokk. Dipping into mechanics and actual gameplay real quick, I had one promised successful divine intervention from being able to balance a d20 on top of a d4. I was making saving throws for Sea’an to regain his memories. An 11, a 9, and a nat 1. I had the choice to use divine intervention then and roll a 15 or higher to save Sea’an, but I had to use it then or he would never regain his memories. I chose to save it.

That ended up being a VERY good call when the entire party went down and I called my divine intervention in. Because I’m not a cleric and I’m using divine intervention, my dm always makes me roll for it. I rolled a 15. The DC for the best outcome was, once again, a 15. We all regain 50 hit points, we’re all back up, and no longer stunned (because holy FUCK Psychic Scream was broken).

Long story short, we kill Thorlokk. Sabal helps Senna give him a burial on the Devil’s Backbone, which is now accessible to water travel, as the massive glass shards in the ocean surrounding it have disappeared. There is now a headstone on the top of a hill there with flowers that will never die. Sabal goes back to visit every year on the same day.

Sabal also goes back to rescue his sister. It takes a long time, but he’s finally able to make amends. It takes even longer, 15 years, but he trains up and he goes back home and kills his mother. He helps situate Iiyola on the throne, and somewhere in this time, he also meets his nephew, who doesn’t get to grow up with his two mothers (whoops) but does get to grow up surrounded by a loving family.

Sabal also finds a ship somewhere and makes it his own. He becomes the best captain the No-Longer-Glass Ocean has ever seen. Senna and her recently-resurrected brother Cypress are frequent crew members, and the entire party is also welcome back anytime. His nephew makes a few appearances aboard the ship as well.

It takes a long time for Sabal to ever care about a man the same way he did for Sea’an and was starting to care for Thorlokk, but I like to think that eventually he found someone to make him happy. Sabal outlives the rest of the party by several hundred years, and it’s rough losing his friends, especially Senna, but he makes it. After the rest of the Seven Deadly Sailors have faded into legends, he takes it upon himself to keep their story alive, writing many a lively sea shanty about their adventures.

Growing up Brennon Cousland spent a lot of time visiting his mother’s family on the Storm Coast, and even went out several times on their reading ships with them (Eleanore never knew of course, or her siblings would be dead).

Brennon also has an amazing singing voice. He loves to sing, though is shy about it. Only his family (and maybe later his love interest) know this about him.

How are these two related, you might ask? Well you sea, because of his time on those ships, the only songs Brennon knows… are sea shanties.
