SEO For Beginners: 3 Powerful SEO Tips to Rank #1 on Google in 2021

Do you want to rank number one on Google? Well, I hate to say it's actually really hard. Ten years ago, it used to be really easy, but now it's hard and you know what, unless you watch this whole video you're not going to be able to rake number one on Google, hey everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today I'm gonna share with you three Ways you can rank number one on Google today I got started an SEO when I was 16 years old. I created a website called advice. Monkey. It no longer exists if you search for it. You'Re not gonna see my website. It was a replication and a shitty replication of monster.com and when I created the website, I thought oh cool. This is it. People are gonna, come to my site and I'm gonna get traffic. But you know what I popped up the website and no one came to it from that point I realized there was something called SEO that I had to do. I paid a few marketing firms to help me with search engine optimization. So that way, I could rank number one on Google for terms like job search, but you know what I gave them money and I got no results eventually, as a 16 year old kid, I lost all my money, you only can make so much money, cleaning, restrooms And picking up trash, so I had to learn it, but when I first started it was as simple as putting the keywords on your website and you could rank. I wish it was that easy. These days, number one focus on content. See Google. Has this update called hummingbird and with hummingbird what they decided to do is websites who just have content. Everything won't do as well as websites to focus on one single niche and are super thorough. For example, let's say you have a website around dating. If you have a website around dating and your article is, let's say talking about mmm five ways, you can land a date or five ways. You can land your dream date. If you end up breaking down, hey, go to matcom, sign up and you'll find a match. After you create a profile, you're not going to do that well, but if you write an article that breaks down how to create a profile on match.com, the ideal picture, the ideal description, how to be funny. How to even maybe add video I don't know I haven't been on these dating sites in ages, but if you go really in depth and you break down every little thing that they should do and then after you break down match.com, you then talk about tinder. You then talk about bumble. You then talk about harmony, all the other platforms. You then even discuss how you should respond to people and engage with them. Should you be hitting people up? What'S the first thing you should say to them? How should you respond? Where should you go for your first date right how to carry from your first date and ask him on a second date, but if you're super thorough and your content is so amazing that people are like huh Wow? I read this article. I don't have anymore questions and I know what to do next. That'S how thorough you need a be so poke holes in your content and as many holes as you can and fill them all up. So then, that way people are like this is the end, all site that you should end up reading if you're interested in dating online. Actually what's funny I wish dating, was this easy? When I was younger, I couldn't just swipe an app like tinder and find the next match. I was sitting next to my buddy Terry, the other day and he kept swiping on tinder and he's like check this out swipe in synapse swipe in svet 30 plus matches within a few minutes. But back in my days you would have to go to a bar and meet people and actually talk to them all right. So now that we got that other way, let's go into the second tip. If you want to rank number one on Google, the second tip I have for you is optimize your title tag and your Meta Description. Have you ever done a Google search and notice that every time you do it there's this link at the top? And then there's this one sentence with the link at the top is called a title tag, and the description below is called a meta description now think of it. This way, if you search for the phrase online dating - and you don't see the word online dating you, neither the title or the description are you gonna click on the result? Well, if you are there's something wrong, because why would you click on a result that isn't related to what you're looking for? In addition to that, have you ever done a search for a term like online dating and have you ever noticed that the word isn't in the title or description? That'S because Google tracks who's clicking on what listing and they've learned that when a keyword is in the listing, the same keyword that you're searching for they know you're way more likely to click through. So in your title, tag and your Meta Description make sure you include the keyword, but you can't just include the keyword like online dating right. The easiest way. Well, I would do - and I wish it was this simple I'll - just put online dating online dating online dating online dating if I could put it 20 times so people know that the articles on online dating I wish I would get more clicks, but it's not that Simple, yes, you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing if it doesn't flow in a sentence. It'S not easy to read and it's not appealing or evoking. Curiosity. No one is gonna click through the third thing. I have for you is to use Google search console. Did you know that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google? Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous, but it is true and it's called Google search console if you're not already a user of it sign up, it doesn't cost a dollar you're missing out if you're not using it. I can't emphasize that enough. So now that you're using Google search console, give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You'Ll see a screen that shows search analytics, and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google search console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions and here's what I mean by impressions. You know when you do a search on Google, you don't always click through on a result right, if you did, then you would be clicking through on ten results. Every time you did a search that would be insane. What Google shows is how many people are seeing. Your listing and clicking through and how many people don't click through. So they show you how many impressions you're getting the clicks and the click-through rate and what you'll find is in general, you're lucky if you're getting around a 5 percent click-through rate, sometimes 10 15. But in most cases, most of your pages are gonna be getting less than 5 percent click-through rate. Now the cool part about Google search console is they show you all the keywords that you're getting impressions for and all the ones you're getting quick for now. Remember the first tip was about content, thoroughness, and you want an article that talks about everything under the Sun. Well, you can use Google search console to tie in back to the first tip so kind of number. One and three are related in which you want to take all the keywords: you're getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy. Now don't just shove them in and have your content be keyword rich, where you know someone reads it and all it is: is online dating tinder Harmonie dating online meeting someone from online dating right. If someone was reading your article - and it sounded just like that - they're gonna bounce off your site, because that means your content sucks and it just has too many keywords. It has to flow naturally and be educational. So you want to take those keywords that you're seeing in Google search, console and add them to the article. Now we have an article on Instagram and it teaches you how to get over 300 targeted Instagram followers per day. The article is around 10,000 words when I first wrote that article it wasn't 10,000 words is roughly 2500. I went to Google search console. I saw all the people that are searching for terms related to the article I added them within that article. I made it more thorough and you know what my traffic more than tripled to that article. Yes, it is that simple and when I made that change it didn't happen right away, but I noticed the results within 50 days. That'S not a long time so now. Let'S recap: on the tips 1 make your content super thorough to make sure you include the keywords within your title tag and meta description, but also when you're doing your title and description make sure your voguing curiosity and you're creating amazing title that everyone wants to read And click through and number 3 use the free tool that Google gives you that'll help you rank number one. That'S Google search console, use those three things and you can rank number one, not just in the future, but also right now. Now that you've learned these three tips, I challenge you in which I want you to take these tactics and implement them and then, after you implement them in the next 45 days. I want you to leave a comment with your results, because, if you're not doing well, that means I'm not happy, and I know these tactics work and that's why I'm challenging you, because if you implement them, you're gonna see results and you're gonna be ecstatic And your life is going to change and I want to build a commute of like-minded people. We all take action and we help each other grow. So I challenge you to take action and implement these three steps now grant it. I know you may be busy and you may not be able to do all of them right away, but just pick one, it doesn't have to be time-consuming pick. One of them make the change. Maybe you can start with the second tactic, because that's the easiest one implement it and you can start seeing results right away. So make sure you subscribe to this video and this channel and I'll see you in the next video and we'll keep helping each other grow. Why Organic Search Results & Leads Aren't Actually Free

Google's "People also ask" Suggestions: You could spend some serious time looking at ideas by doing this It's a good use of your time though Don't skip it! It's going to be a good way to find "long-tail keywords," that are pretty specific, but very helpful to those who are looking for that specific information It's a time-consuming process, but so important! How to Know What is a Good Key Phrase When you use something like Keywords Everywhere, you'll be able to see a few things at the right side of a desktop screen Volume - This is the number of searches a keyword gets per month in the US on Google - ISH It's not an exact science But a phrase with 2,000 searches vs one with 20 searches per month gives you an idea of what's popular You want to choose a keyword that people search for regularly If not, you won't get much traffic to your site, even if you did rank high on the SERP CPC - This gives a general idea of what this key phrase would cost in Google Ads Again, this is a broad stroke, but gives you some sense of how much competition there is for that phrase out there Comp (meaning Competition) - This is sometimes called Keyword Difficulty for organic search results It measures your competition, that is, other sites that use your target keyword The close the Comp number is to 10, the harder it is to rank for (Sometimes this on a scale of 1 - 100 where 100 is the hardest to rank for) And a big long list of other key phrase ideas - Some of these keywords, sometimes referred to as key phrases, are more specific than your average keyword For example, instead of using "shoes," you'd use "brown sandals for women" This is a more focused keyword and would satisfy searcher intent better than the other keyword Long-tail keywords are a good addition to your targeted keyword and phrases because, often, they give you a higher chance of ranking for a searcher that is looking for a specific result 2 Writing content to match the phrases Once you've spent a considerable amount of time identifying the right keywords to target, you will then have to spend more time writing content that includes these keywords in a meaningful way Content creators used to get away with "keyword stuffing" to make their page show up in the search results But now, Google can read things like a human It's not about how many times you can cram the same exact phrase into a page, over and over It's about crafting content that a human can read using a mixture of phrases We will get into more of this in the on-page SEO section below Side note: You can always have someone create content for you including ideas about what to write about This is an alternative cost to your time Finally, once you have your content and it's published you'll need to bundle related topics together using a pillar page format This is an ongoing process If you have questions about pillar pages you can read: What are Pillar Pages? 3 On-Page SEO There's more than just writing new content too You should also constantly evaluate the pages you already have Based on your keyword research, are you using relevant key phrases on your web pages? Does your page answer questions that people may be searching for? Part of the process for getting your website to rank at the top of organic results is taking long-standing content making it work harder for you Add more text 1000+ words is good 2,000+ is better Break it up so you don't overwhelm visitors And don't worry about scrolling. It's really not a problem Add videos that are related to the topic for that page And be sure your transcript is included for Google read it Make sure you haven't overlooked your Meta Title and Meta Description These elements are needed so that Google can understand what your content is about and at the same time, produce the most relevant results for searchers Meta Title - Read by Google, appears in the search results, and should be related to your key phrases. The title of the page isn't always good enough take some time to understand these and write them so that Google makes a good connection with your phrases Meta Description - Not so much about ranking but matters when your page shows up in search results. Make someone want to click your result with a good description Image alt-tags - Give those pics a name where Google can read it Most content management systems make this an easy task, but it can be time consuming if it wasn't done at the time your website was built Cross-linking - You also need to link to related content within your website. This linking action shows search engines that you are an authority in your industry, offering more than just one page on a specific topic. This increases your chances of ranking well Related Read: What You Need to Know About Your Website Content If you do want to run paid ads, SEO is important because it determines your quality score, which is Google's rating of the quality and relevance of your keywords and pay-per-click (PPC) ads The quality score affects how your ads appear or if they appear at all This is because Google wants content that best matches searcher intent, solves a problem, or answers a question The higher your quality score, the better your ability to satisfy searcher intent The better you satisfy searcher intent, the better your ad rankings will be at the lowest possible cost 4 Link Building So you've performed thorough keyword research, sprinkled those keywords throughout your content, and fully optimized your content for the search engines But if your website still isn't ranking, then it's probably because you haven't built any links And Google loves links Why? Because when there are many high-authority sites linking back to your website, Google sees it as a high-quality site with quality and authoritative content Link building takes quite a bit of time because you need to do some foot work and build relationships with other reputable sites Some people do email outreach and partner with other sites to get links. Others do what's called black-hat SEO and pay for links Google doesn't like this method and will penalize you for it. Mozcom has a great guide for link building. Whatever method you choose, just be aware that quality is better than quantity 5 Monitoring and Reporting When you put this much effort into getting your website's content developed around a specific set of topics, you have to make sure it's working That means someone needs to own this responsibility Along with some software, like HubSpot or SEMRush, you will need to consistently keep track of where your website is ranking NOTE: We don't recommend randomly Googling to see if you appear Google produces very specific results based on your geography, past searches, etc The software gives a much more objective overview of your ranking Be sure you know what you're looking at and what it means so you can provide reporting to the highest levels of the organization What Is "It" Worth to You? "It" - could be referring to the value of a lead generated from the website your time your marketing budget Or all of the above There's a direct correlation between your SEO success and the amount of time and/or budget that you invest. Ultimately, it's up to your company to decide how to allocate each of these, but if you want to rank in the top of the organic search results, there is a cost associated If you'd like an honest, unbiased opinion of your current marketing efforts and how your currently ranking in the organic results, let's talk We can spend 15 minutes with you to review your SEO strategy Read the full article

Google Just Announced a Major Change To Your Search Results | Inc.com

Technology Google Just Announced a Major Change To Your Search Results Google will no longer show more than one top result from the same site except in rare cases @jasonaten CREDIT: Getty Images Google announced yesterday that it's changing the way it displays search results so that it no longer shows multiple results from the same website except in rare cases In fact, it's already in effect , according to Google's Danny Sullivan, who is the company's public search liaison This site diversity change means that you usually won't see more than two listings from the same site in our top results However, we may still show more than two in cases where our systems determine it's especially relevant to do so for a particular search -- Google SearchLiaison (@searchliaison) June 6, 2019 Google is also clear that this is a change to the search results display, not an update to the search algorithm, meaning it doesn't affect site ranking It also doesn't affect map listings or featured snippets (which are the highlighted organic search results that Google features at the top of search result pages). What it means When I was a kid, my dad used to say to us, "I've got good news, and I've got bad news What do you want to hear first?" We always chose the good news first, of course, but usually, there wasn't actually bad news Well, I've got good news and bad news depending on who you are Unfortunately, if you're a content creator or business built on content marketing, there actually could be bad news First, the good news For users If you use Google like most people, to find basically everything, this is probably a good change As a result, you're more likely to find a range of results, which means you're probably more likely to find what you're looking for. Google wants to show you the most "relevant" results for whatever it is you're looking for, but this change demonstrates that it also wants to balance that by showing you a diversity of results In fact, the company even refers to it as the "Search Diversity Change" The reason behind this change is likely the fact that some 90 percent of clicks go to the top two or three search results Most people never scroll down, so results "below the fold," or lower than what's visible when the page loads, are almost never clicked on This change will introduce more unique sites into those top results, which, according to Google, means it will provide better overall results the next time you're searching for the best way to get french fry crumbs out of your laptop keyboard For content creators On the other hand, if your business depends on organic search results for website traffic, this could have a real impact on your overall strategy While Google says the change doesn't affect site rankings, I'm not sure how much it matters how highly a page or article from your site ranks if it is excluded from the search engine results page A lot of you spend a lot of resources creating content for the very purpose of showing up at the top of organic search results This change means that you'll have to consider how to adjust your content and search engine optimization strategy knowing that less of your pages will show up for relevant searches Google says there is an exception When the company's search algorithm thinks that more than one result from the same site is especially relevant to a search, it will continue to display them in the top results It doesn't give specific examples as to what this means or when it will make this exception, but Google does say they will continue to make adjustments as it rolls out across search results I've reached out to Google for more information but did not immediately receive a response Published on: Jun 7, 2019 The opinions expressed here by Inccom columnists are their own, not those of Inccom More from Inc.
