Second mitten is knitted, still gotta do the thumbs though.

Did a lot of knitting today while hanging out at the Camden town landing at my friend’s mom’s booth at the Windjammer Festival.

I baked some blueberry scones (not pictured).

There were boats. And people. And good dogs.

International women's day shout-out to Marit Gulsethbrua Emstad.

At just age 16 she popularized the selbu rose(yes, that 8 point snowflake design is actually a flower) design, and turned her little norwegian home into a popular tourist destination. And it all started with 3 pairs of mittens, 164 years ago.(mitten for reference. Chart is one of her patterns from later in life.)

I've been knitting a lot recently to try and both keep my spirits up and to distract myself from the current reality here in Europe. These are still unfinished but they're sentimental as they are for the people closest to me, so I photographed them before even finishing the cuffs I was so happy with them.

Her husband likes his too. And they fit!

Maybe I will make mittens for the cook and first mate too.

Anyway, boat trip was fun and I enjoyed this knitting project!

Kirsten's Winter Outfit - Mostly BGC

To Kirsten, the best part of winter in Minnesota is joining her brother Lars and his friend John on their trapline. However, one bad decision on her part spells disaster for the Larson family when their cabin on Uncle Olav's farm burns down. They have the opportunity to finally buy a home of their own, but the process is bittersweet.
