um... what do you think about mio and sena u-u they might b my favorite pairing....
DO LOVE THOSE GIRLS. VERY MUCH.
I think they've got an interesting vibe going on, like, Mio doesn't really treat anyone the way she treats Sena, she kind of has Sena up on this pedestal where she is the perfectest girl that Mio adores :) her favourite :) her bestest girl :) but is failing to really communicate anything about what it is that makes Sena so loveable to her.
And the answer, I think, is pretty straightforward -- Sena is very loyal and sincere in her affection in a way that flatters Mio's ego in a good way -- but since Mio's attempts to get Sena to reveal herself to her the same way Mio feels seen by Sena keep falling flat, she can only really go back to those shallow compliments to return the affection. Talking to Sena is like talking to a mirror, Sena knows how to give Mio the positive reinforcement she needs but doesn't know how to let Mio get to know her, in turn.
And Sena's rock-bottom self-esteem and the idea that she has to be someone likeable to validate her own existence holds her back a lot, and masks that Mio does love Sena for reasons that are entirely unique to Sena. Sena uses sincerity as a mask, and while that leaves all her relationships quite shallow before she learns to communicate better, it's a shallow understanding of the real Sena.
Everything both Mio and Sena do is very heartfelt, Mio with her strong sense of self and Sena with her strong sense of compassion. I think Mio is ultimately good for Sena, because she's like a puzzle, she's someone Mio gets to figure out, someone she gets to have agency with, everything she learns about Sena is new and exciting and it keeps the high of the chase up.... as long as she feels like Sena wants her to do that. And when she doesn't, Mio just goes back to trying to flatter her way into Sena's heart, paying compliments because that's kind of all she can do what with Sena trying to keep her out of her heart.
And Sena does really want to be seen, be validated, she just doesn't know how to get that from people, she just knows how to do the things she wants to others and hope that one of them catches on and does the same thing back. She's just gotten so good at sincere effusive validation that it completely blocks out the part of her that wants that for herself, too. I think people can see that she is quite awkward and anxious, they just misplace that anxiety to be about how she's, like...... bad at things, when that's not her problem, Sena knows she's hot shit, she just doesn't think her skills are worth anything to anyone.

mio and sena hcs please. if u dont mind. i think they should kiss actually. sena had such a crush on mio i cant believe they never did anything with it
SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG TO ANSWER i kept forgetting to but senamio is everything to me i love them so much. yes i say this abt all of the ouroboros pairings but smth about senamio just. gah.... i relate to sena so much and it's not jsut the autism but it's also the feeling of being inadequate compared to your peers and not being enough. and th. the.
the scene in chapter 6 lives in my head rent free. god. "are you really... my mimi?" IM SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM I PROMISE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think they're absolutely the most physically affectionate pair. can't keep their hands off each other kinda couple. especially after the whole agnus castle thing. holding mio's hand is a good comfort for sena, reassuring her that yes it's her mimi and she's here and she's okay. i can def see them sharing celebration hugs after a hard fight, with sena swinging mio around ("did you see me in action, mimi?" "yeah, you looked great!") and they're just giggling with each other. sharing lil kisses for a job well done.
i think sena's also the kind of person who would feel insecure about being someone who needs a lot of reassurance. she has a lot of problems with her self-esteem, and i can see her being insecure about being "high maintenance." but mio's always there to comfort her, to say that she isn't too needy, and that she loves her no matter what. sena also gives mio a lot of comfort when she gets lost in her anxiety or guilt. she feels as if she's caused a lot of pain for her friends, not being able to tell them the truth during that month in agnus castle. sena may not always be the best with words, but she makes sure mio knows that it's not her fault, and that she's here now and that's what matters. it would've hurt much more if they actually lost her that day.
also sena plays with mio's ears sometimes bc they're soft and she thinks they're cute.

I've been mulling over your Sena/Mio meta and since Tumblr's hot meme rn is "everything is yuri", I came to the conclusion that Sena/Mio is peak yuri. Like okay, a lot of the intensity of BL is that every act of affection carries weight because boys aren't raised to be openly affectionate like that, on contrast, the Mio/Sena dynamic feels very much like the conflict of people who ARE encouraged to show affection to the point it becomes superficial. It's taken for granted.
You're honestly not wrong. Mio and Sena have very strong "romantic two-girl friendship" vibes to me, the kind where neither of them can admit that they want something more out of the relationship because they already have a best friend who is doing the most they can to be that kind of good friend.
I think it's also interesting to think about how Miyabi fits into this pattern -- her relationship with Mio clearly taught her things about herself, and maybe kind of made her give up on trying to get Sena to fulfil those needs the way Miyabi did, which caused their relationship to cool off further, and the impact Miyabi's death had on her probably also solidified for Sena that she couldn't be "someone like that" for Mio despite being closer to and more knowledgeable of Mio than anyone else in her life.
Sena also has a lot of baggage around being a burden to others; even as she acts like she wants Mio's attention and praise, she seems to shy away from actually connecting with Mio and speaking to her frankly and openly in a way that Mio seems to really crave. Sena understands her own feelings better than Mio, who is more composed, but also more temperamental and more selfish.
It does have that S vibe where both of them keep acting like they're sort of play-acting and should have already grown out of those feelings but... haven't, because despite the thing they want from each other having matured as they have, they still want it from each other. They just think the other one doesn't want that, so they end up reaching out to other people instead. 'S a little sad, really.
